It's been a pleasure taking our talents to Los Angeles.

It's becoming painfully clear though that if the Lakers want to continue this dynasty beyond next year we need another playmaker as Kobe can't do it on that end for a full season + playoffs anymore. Up the arms race and going after CP3 or Deron would be nice, but we don't have the pieces.

Its about time to consider what the team could get for Bynum.

Seriously.

He's basically done but other teams will bite on his youth.

I wouldn't put much stock in to the Celtic's early season wins. Hell, they were within 3 with 2 minutes to go in Boston.

Come on man half their team is healthy (right now) hall of famers and they still win when guys like Rondo, Shaq, and Perkins aren't playing.

I have to give props to the Heat. They've somehow figured out a way to have maybe two of their big three come close to the type of numbers that you'd expect them to hit if they were leading their own teams, and Bosh is doing fairly well...all while having a decent enough flow offensively.

It's just unfortunate
notreally
that they have to go up against a near perfect basketball team in the Boston Celtics. A team that actually forces Wade to run around all day and Lebron to actually D up someone who can actually score the basketball. Not to mention ridiculous depth pretty much everywhere.

Lakers are in trouble if they face the Celtics in the finals...and without homecourt its a death sentence.

Bynum/Steve Blake for Kirk Hinrich/Javale McGee/Trevor Booker.

As a Celtics fan I want no part of the Lakers in the finals (assuming the Celtics can make it to the finals) I don't think I could stomach another long Celtics vs Lakers series especially if the Celtics lose.

Another thing I wanted to say during the Celtics game is fuck KG looks so damn good this season. He has lost a step after the injury, but man does he look good on defense.offense. Hopefully KG can stay healthy for the rest of the season.

I said that going back to last season.

Question Lakers-Age: Would you trade Bynum for a half year rental of Melo?

I was refering to the Celtic 2 wins over the Heat. C's are good but I wouldn't say they would walk over the Heat in a 7 game series.

This is why I am laughing about this game. It really means nothing. I would have liked a win, but regardless, in the big picture, it means nothing. This game won't impact anything. Heat will still be a top seed, Lakers will still be a top seed.
Lakers were 23-5 at this point in the season last year...

Jazz disgust you when losing to the heat while still showing heart. Whats the word for it when your own team gets blown out and shows none? :D

Par for the course.

I had a feeling the Lakers would lay an egg today. They match up poorly with LeBron teams for whatever reason.

This game was a carbon copy of last year's Christmas game.

They will probably drop the Miami game too, just like they did to the Cavs last year.

If the outcome at year's end is a duplicate of of last I'm good.

Of course this game means nothing...unless the Heat lost and then it'd be "wow what losers they are" and "They can't beat the elite teams", etc, etc...

Celtics are still the worst possible match up for the Heat. KG can shut down Bosh easily, and they can force Wade and Lebron to become jump shooters. Yea they were only within 3 with 2 min, but the Celtics have dominated the Heat for 3.5 quarters of that game. It was never really close even when Miami made that comeback. Wade had a tough time running with Jesus in both the games. He isn't good enough to shut Jesus down. Not only does Wade have to worry about scoring on offense, but he has to chase Jesus through screens all day. Lebron is the only one of the three that will consistently put up big numbers against the Celtics.

Edit: And if the Celtics are healthy during the playoffs they have crazy depth. Especially the bigs which is a problem for Miami.

You mean great right? Everyone and their moms wants those guys. Steve Nash is a guy the lakers should target. He is a better defender than Fisher now.

has nothing to do with the loss, I've been saying we should explore trading Bynum for a year now, while he still has some value around the league. The Knicks are talking about trading Melo for fucking Eddy Curry and expiring trash, Bynum is not that far of a stretch.

Yeah they won't walk over them but there are few ways I can think of where the Heat would win the series. If Celtics hold HCA and they continue their homecourt dominance like they did in 2008 then it's a tall task.

depends on the pace the other teams keep. This season has been crazy in that almost every other elite team has gone on insane winning streaks. If they keep that up than yeah Lakers will have to fight on the road in the playoffs. If the Spurs and Heat keep winning 10 or 12 for every loss than we will have to settle for a lower seed. If they level off a bit Lakers have a chance of making up some room, but not if we don't get our shit together.

Still need another big. It's proven that Pau turns into a pussy when he has to play overwhelming minutes at the center position without a reliable backup.

Lawson/J.R Smith/Nene would be better at this point than Melo.

well by a lot of accounts the Nuggs wouldn't mind unloading Nene along with Melo, but we're already thin enough on contracts anybody would realistically want. If you want them to throw in Nene we have to start asking Denver to take on Luke Walton which has no chance in hell of happening.

Neither of those games were realistically that close.

Lakers looked like shit tonight, Spurs/Mavs wcf confirmed.

Regardless of what other teams do, the Lakers would have to start playing a lot better to get a decent seed. They've had one of the weakest SOS in the league so far.

oh dont' get me wrong I dont' want Nene.

At some point you have to sacrifice some. Yeah having depth with bigs is nice, but I'd trade in that advantage for the advantage of having an all star franchise type scorer at the 3 playing alongside Kobe. That to me is a bigger advantage.

Nene wouldn't really make their interior D any less soft.

Oh I was talking about Nene's blake-griffinesque dunk :lol
