Another thing that didn't help the Clippers, was their "Home Crowd" who were 90% Laker fans. When LA and LAC play with Clips as the homecourt team , its probably the only time the home team gets booed at the line even when playing a good game.

I am enjoying this discussion about fans. I want to ask what you think of my situation. Full disclosure here I have no reason to lie.

I am a casual basketball fan, always have been. I have followed the league since I was a kid when I was more of a Jordan fan than I was a Heat fan. Once Riley came here and we became a force I started to follow them more. I would go to a few games and watch all the playoff games. In terms of regular season I rarely would watch a game, honestly regular season basketball is not that interesting to me.

I have been a follower of the Heat all my life. A guy that likes to keep track of the team by watching highlights or the stat sheet but again rarely watched regular season games. I would go to games every once in a while, since Shaq I have gone to about 5-10 games a year. Come playoff time I am fully invested and I watch every game. I feel bad when we lose, I feel joy when we win, even if its a losing season where I don't really watch the games I feel disappointment, I still care. I have Heat loads of Heat memorabilia, I have an authentic Zo jersey in my closet. I do love my Heat.

Would I call myself a die hard fan, no way. I am a die hard Dolphins fan who will try to not miss one snap no matter how painful it is to watch. I am not like that with the Heat but I do consider myself a fan and a lifelong one at that. This is the first season where I watch every Heat game, this team is so interesting to me, its must see TV. It has even lead me here to further discuss basketball which is something I would rarely do. So what do you consider that?

Yeah you are a fan. Not hardcore, but a fan nonetheless.

Though I must say, your posts are pretty good for a rook. Just be careful and stay under the Heat-age veterans' wings (Cerrius and pheenix) and you will do just fine. A lot of people, including me, find it boring to follow sports alone or without friends who share their interests. You'll find that posting here will probably turn you into a hardcore fan over time, and make you enjoy the sport a lot more :D

wtf? No they are not. Do you even watch basketball?

Record wise they are and that's what I meant. But throwing records out the window, they'd still be in the last group of terrible teams in the league.

So you saying that the Clippers aren't still one of the worse (say the bottom 5 or so teams) teams in the league?

Also I have no problem with people getting shit in here. Thats the nature of sports. I live in New England, I spend 90% of my day giving Celtics and Patriots fans endless amounts of good natured shit.
I just wanted to point out that I have reservations about dismissing anybody, whether they have been a basketball fan for 30 years or 30 days. I don't like the idea of alienating new fans. I know random people who pop into this thread to talk shit and then vanish forever is likely irritating when they don't stick around to contribute anything beyond "Lebron assfucked you!"
But I wonder how many fans avoid this thread because everytime they open it, they see pages of hostility and anger. You can argue they should man up and just jump in but at the same time, they may have a point. Sometimes this thread can be ridiculous. Hence why I lurk almost every night but only post once or twice a week.

Srsly (I think)

And then you've got people soiling Scottie Pippen's good name by saying he wasn't a top 50 player and Bosh being the best PF in the league and all kinds of other shit...

Well there is certainly a certain level of stupid that should be addressed...like what you listed. But I don't think I have seen any of that tonight to be honest. The argument tonight seems to be between "heat hooraaaay, and heat suck my ass hair!"

That's true.

If I was a Laker fan, I would be pissed having to win like that. Your team looks like they try just enough to get a W but not much else. The fact that they had to escape the Clippers is inexcusable, hey, I guess a win is a win, right?

:\

All that talent but no interest in giving 100% on a nightly basis.

At least my Cavs gave the Bulls a game tonight. We came up short but only lost by 5.

I know it's only a moral victory but as a Cleveland fan, it's pretty much all we have these days.

Lakers better bring it vs. Chicago or they are gonna get stomped. Sorry Lakers-Age, but that's the truth and you know it.

yeah i feel the same way, its like they are not even trying.
on the other hand its not that big of a deal, i like kobe and stuff having a little bit of rest in stead of going all out before the play offs begin.
anyway we realy need bynum back and carter and ratlif being out doesnt help us as much either.
i cant believe how many times its been that we win because of brown and our bench.

Yeah Ron matched up really well on him. Blake was getting anything he wanted on Odom low post.
Well Ron is stronger than Lamar which is what probably contributed to his effectiveness against Beast Griffin. But I think LO's foul trouble had a lot to do with his poor defense as well.

I get the feeling the wrath of Blake is inevitably coming though....

Err... That's like most Miami sports teams' "fans". But that's mostly because this is an event town and there are many other things to do. I don't find anything wrong with it, but I'm sure the wind aren't as satisfying to you or the losses as painful when you don't want them.

At least you don't pretend to be a die-hard fan. It's the same with me and the Panthers.

Are you a Marlins fan by any chance?

Well it doesn't matter because you're a douche anyways.

P.S. I think everyone was a Jordan fan but I certainly wasn't when w faced him in the Eastern conference finals.

Pistons
Kings
Wizards
Timberwolves

Nets (Arguable)
Bobcats (Arguable)

Branduil said:
Or even the Kings.

They're not even the worst team in their own state.
Teams that are almost certainly worse than the Clippers:
Kings
Cavs
Wizards
Pistons
Twolves

Other teams that might be worse than the Clippers:
Sixers
Nets
Bobcats

Not that 6th-9th worst in the team is anything to write home about, but it's nowhere near "worst." They've had an absolutely brutal schedule so far, which explains a lot of their record.

Edit: Beaten like a red-headed stepchild. Damn it, Dy.

Thats reasonable and everything but you gotta understand that there is no real hostility in what we say. I don't actually dislike you dawg. The reason why we do it, particularly with new posters, is because we don't want this thread to be shit. Other sports forums are there for fly-by posting. Go to a team's general forum or a random NBA forum for that. We only have one thread. If we have people posting nonsense all the time, this thread would be awful. Its our way of weeding out people who can't take a joke/have a terrible sense of humor.

Don't be too upset. The Clips were the better team for the majority of the night and fought with more heart than the Lakers, that's for damn sure.

I thought you guys deserved the win to be honest.

Boom.

I don't know how anyone could think the Clips were at the bottom-bottom of the barrel of the NBA right now.

Their schedule this season has been pretty brutal too. And yet they've managed to beat more quality teams than the Lakers and Heat.

I'd honestly say your Bobcats are better than the Clippers easily. Just having Larry Brown for me gives them the edge. I think the Clippers and the possibly the Timberwolves have the talent to be way better but their franchises are holding them back.

I'm absolutely convinced that if DJ were in New York instead of Ray, he'd easily be the best PG in the East. Instead, Larry has him fighting for minutes with Shaun Livingston because DJ's points in the paint aren't as high as he'd like.

Well yeah, sometimes people get into insults over sports. I don't understand it, same thing with politics. It happens a lot more online than in person. So probably a lot of fans avoid this thread, kinda like I do sometimes. I literally got laughed off here when I predicted a year in advanced that the "big 3" would land in Miami and even got a couple of nasty PMs. So I didn't come back for about a year.

I don't even go into the political threads anymore on GAF. I've learned that while that for years I thought the gaming side of the forums was the place to stay away from, it was actually OT that got stranger still. "Inflation porn" still has to be one of the most disturbing thing ever.

That being said: fuck the Jets! ;)

That being said... I hate the Jets and all their fans. :D

I'd agree that Larry always has had a knack for asking a lot out of his PGs, but I'm not sure he would automatically be better than Rondo. That guy has some great court-vision. He's be more on the level of Nelson methinks.

:lol :lol :lol at DY.

Who wanna fuck with the Rockets? We learning how to close out in the fourth quarter. We beat the Lakers. We gonna stop on joo!

lol thekad was never your competition.

But yeah, you are doing pretty well so far. I dunno where I am at, but I was surprised I did so well last year (didn't win anything but runner-up for MVP shocked the hell out of me) so maybe I'm not the best judge of these things.

And the Bobcats looked like a team that could have honestly be a 6th seed in the East this year imo. But yeah.....that was the beginning of the year.

LB doesn't ask a lot of DJ. He just hates him. Plain and simple. Pick and roll with Hibbert and TJ Ford - go under every time. yes, i know you're 5'11 and TJ is going to abuse you and there is no chance TJ is going to shoot from 3. your pain, it pleases me more than winning ever could.

DJ just lead the Bobcats on a huge run against the Nuggets to win the game in Charlotte - LB doesn't even wait to get to the tunnel before tearing into him.
