wtf? No they are not. Do you even watch basketball?

They do have the worst owner though, and by a fair margin. So the Clippers will never become good. Griffin and Gordon won't stay for long.

Are you a Marlins fan by any chance?

Same thing as the Heat, I follow along, they are my baseball team. If we are in the hunt or in the playoffs then I will be watching all the time. I will say that the 2003 playoff run was one of the most exciting events in all of my watching sports. 97 we kind of expected it, it was still great, especially the final game but the whole run of that 03 team was magical.

SOHH on Blake Griffin:

He's ripped no homo, light-skinned, curly/frizzy looking red hair...looks like one of those unrealistic looking players you see in the 2K game drafts. In the game, he'd have a Latino first name and a chinese last name.

I bet I can count on one hand the amount of times you posted in the MLB thread.

MVP quality stuff right there.

MVP usually goes to a team with a top 4 seed. If the Knicks get a top 4 seed, Amare probably could be thought of as an MVP.

But you should keep in mind, didn't durant go on a 20 game run last year or sutn of 30+?

Well in the East right now there's only a 2 game differential between the 2nd and 6th spot. If the Knicks are still looking good after the All-Star break, Amare would deserve to be in the MVP discussion. As it is, I don't think many people expected the Knicks to turn around this quickly. Most people including myself thought it would take one more piece before they would be relevant again.

But now with Amare seeming to fit in pretty well, if the Knicks manage to land Melo..... watch out.

Let's be serious, Knicks will not be 2nd in the East. I can see them doing better than Atlanta or Chicago, but I wouldn't bet too much money on it and the other top 3 teams are out of the question.

The best statistic Amare has put up 'til today is the Suns record this season. They're on pace to win 13 less games than last season. Warrick, Childress and Turkoglu together can not replace him. Hill is asked to do so much offensively compared to last year. They very well could miss the playoffs. It's not like Nash is underperforming, quite the contrary.

Same for Felton and the Bobcats.

As for the Knicks, they're on pace to get 50 wins. Compared to 29 last season. They're going to slow down in january with a difficult schedule, but after that, they should pick up again.

“I HATE 3-POINT SHOTS. I THINK IT RUINED OUR GAME.”
- Larry Brown, after his team shot 45 percent from 3-point range Tuesday
:lol

What the hell is wrong with the Knicks realgm board? If by any chance they get Melo this season....He along with Stoudemire and Felton make them title contenders?! Are they fucking drunk? If it was one guy, I'd let it slide but it seems everyone is drinking the _____?

Surprised to see this on Sportscenter last night. Obviously these are more rare than people think, but I didn't realize they were this rare.

I guess most game-winning shots come with the game tied?

I think there just aren't a lot of true buzzer beaters, to be honest. A lot of gamewinning shots come with at least a little time remaining. I also like how they threw the postseason in there to put Fisher higher on the list and started (for no discernible reason; did they not start counting until then? That seems hard to believe) in '02-'03. Not that the postseason doesn't count, but lumping postseason counting stats with regular season counting stats is kind of disadvantageous to players on teams that don't make / get far in the playoffs.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the above stat is kind of dumb. Cherrypicking, questionable samples, and making a rare event even rarer, for no goddamn reason. Fucking ESPN.

This is explicitly only counting buzzer-beating FG that wins the game, not just the last FG attempt. So if a player shoots a dagger but with 1 second left on the clock, it won't be counted.

You answered your question. You realize you're skimming though the ramblings of 12 year olds to fuel your Knicks hatred right?

Melo would make us a strong 4th in the east right now, if we didnt lose much to get him.

Losing two of the last three games sucks. Especially when the team is winning near the end of the game and the team gets exhausted. It's time to unleash Jeremy Evans, Sloan.

Knicks are 5th in the rankings right now, Bulls having a 12 - 8 record.

Melo would improve the team a lot. Depends on what they'd give... Not sure there's any hurry though, it does seem like he'll wait out until this summer.

Also doesn't show the number of players who've hit it only once.

Even so, I would have thought there would be more than that in 7-8 years of play, including the playoffs.

Fuck you all for undermining my wonder at that stat. :(

Thats reasonable and everything but you gotta understand that there is no real hostility in what we say. I don't actually dislike you dawg. The reason why we do it, particularly with new posters, is because we don't want this thread to be shit. Other sports forums are there for fly-by posting. Go to a team's general forum or a random NBA forum for that. We only have one thread. If we have people posting nonsense all the time, this thread would be awful. Its our way of weeding out people who can't take a joke/have a terrible sense of humor.
I agree, this thread is better than other basketball places, where it's just a team's fans circlejerking to their latest win or saying the sky is falling for a lost, or random humongous boards where there are just doing drive-by postings.

Here, we can have long arguments, remember meltdowns and create memes.

If it was just everyone jumping in at once, it'll be 10x worse than the NPD threads, where there are fanboys of 3 "teams"--we'd have fans of 30 teams randomly posting drive-by comments.

lol get the fuck outta here. They could sweep their way to the finals and face fuck the lakers 4-0 and people would still be coming up with excuses.

Funniest part is I didn't even give much of shit about the Heat until people started acting like they were the evil empire. I can't help myself now, I love the bad guy and I always want him to win.
I thought you were a heat fan for 9 years (10 years now). I guess you fell off the bandwagon last year and got back on?

what? you can root for more than one team. This isn't religion.
I've been a magic fan for 15 years, a heat fan for 9, and a cavs fan for 4. I also root for the celtics, thunder, and most of the underdog teams like the bobcats.

I think siddx is confused about the definition of "fan." I root for teams that aren't the Wizards all the fucking time. But they're not my team. I support my team regardless of its current situation. The Wizards suck balls right now, they're bottom-five in the league (maybe bottom-two) but I still root for them to succeed. I really like watching the Clippers right now, so I root for them (except against the Wiz) but if that changes I won't mind, because I'm not a Clippers fan. I think it's just a fundamental definitional problem.

A real fan watches all teams, but roots for only one.

I love basketball, and over the years I've watched and enjoyed the Larry Brown Pistons, those crazy Warriors and Clippers teams that pulled off playoff upsets in 2006 and 2007, the old Kings teams with Williams (and later Bibby) that stood against the Laker menace in the late 90s/early 2000s, and other teams...but the only team that I am a fan of is the Knicks.

This shit is forever.

And for what it's worth, the Heat will never be victim to bad refs. Ever.
dude, did you watch the game? They were terrible, I even said so in a post during the game.

I like how there are 5 more at 2 besides the ones listed but LeBron is convienently listed at #3 on the graphic.

I was at the game and even have a few pictures of plays when Lebron got to the line without being fouled. Not only that, there was several times Lebron, Wade, and Bosh got away with traveling. Heck, on one play Lebron took a pass, took two steps without dribbling, dribbled cross court, palmed the ball like mad, passed it off to Bosh who slid both feet just before bricking a shot, and then Lebron hit a three on the tip out rebound. Three travels in one freaking possession. This is common for LeCrab. Also LBJ got away with like 5 bitch fests that never drew a technical. On one play he even shoved a guy who didn't foul him but he dared to alter his shot. No technical. He's a whiny bitch.

The Jazz probably shot more free throws last night, but they were far more aggressive in the paint. The amount of contact it takes to draw a whistle for Lebron and Wade is stupid in comparison to what the Heat deal out to the other team and it goes uncalled. The Heat get breathed on and it's a foul (see Deron's first two fouls which forced him to the bench very early) versus the contact guys like Millsap and Deron were taking in the lane without getting calls. It's night and day, and it's ALWAYS like this in favor of the Heat.

Sorry I can't 'dick ride' like you claim to do this year.

I guess the 'dick ride' machine was broken in 2007-08 but it's good to see you FAN UP this year.

You should only be allowed to root for four teams. Your team, Blake Griffin's team, teams playing against Russell Westbrook, and teams playing against Dwayne Wade.
