I admit, it's a highly appropriate joke. But "Yao Ming" or "Andrew Bynum" Award was also acceptable.

A mediocre season for Yao is better then the best season Bynum or Oden will ever achieve.

Because i'm not sure i want the suns FO to have cash to spend after last off seasons spending spree.

Also, the 2011 FA list isn't that spectacular, particularly when it looks as if melo won't make it to then.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=FreeAgents-10-11

Lord the 2011 FA class is average, after melo the next best player is either Afflalo or Marc Gasol (i'd love for the suns to pick up marc for the record).

Haha indeed. Sad but true. I would love Gasol as well but I figure the Grizzlies will resign him. That's why I looked at Z-Bo for this year.

Sharp has been here for a while. Not a rookie.
Really? :/

Itwasmeanttobesomethingsomething isn't all that bad. He's like chars, if he lived in Utah.

did you start posting before or after last season ended? I know you were posting in the playoffs, but that would leave you eligible for this years ROTY.

Sharps ok, but his gameday run down stuff is annoying.

I love that...

Squall's been around for a while, I thought.

It's odd, but the grizz have to decide this year who they're keeping, either Gasol or Mayo. I don't think they can pay both, and that may depends as much on what they can re-sign Z-bo for. If they can get Z-bo for ~12m per, they may decide to stick with him, give up gasol, play thabeet minutes, and re-sign mayo. If they can't, they're going to have to re-sign Gasol, because you can't have your front court being Thabeet.

:lol :lol :lol

Pickings are so slim for RotY, TCB is trying to make people eligible!!

I'm fucking desperate.

Think of it this way: peterb0y is probably runner-up right now. Respect to peterb0y for playing with heart and hustle but his post-game wouldn't get him top 5 in other seasons...he still has a lot of time to make a good impression though I guess.

Maybe some of Kevin Love's high bb IQ will rub off on JR Smith

Smith and Beas on the same team :lol :lol :lol

I've got odds Darko kills a bitch if JR is on his team.

Smith is already sold on Minnesota.

dat tree

I'm not sure if it's been talked about, but the OJ Mayo to the bulls trade would be interesting. I'm not sure the bulls have anything the grizz want though... Out side of Rose, Noah and Boozer (none of which are going to be traded) there's not a lot to be excited about on that roster.

Knicks Age, good luck, should be a fun one. I think that this game will be waaaaaaaaaay closer than our last matchup for a few reasons:
A. We're coming off a road trip and big Xmas game
B. Lack of away crowd motivation factor (See the Cleveland game @ cleveland versus the Cleveland game in Miami)
C. I think Amare will have a much better game, don't think that Joel will be able to do what he did to him last time.

I still have faith that Turner will eventually become a productive player...if not a good one.

And how does NBA Gaf feel about Griffin and roty? I tend to stand with Charles' stance. Obviously people will point to my avatar and claim that I am bias. Wall was close to Blake early on before the shit hit the fan and he started missing games like crazy, and clearly Griffin has been far and away the best rookie thus far and probably will end up that way...but should he really be given Roty?

It may seem like a minor thing, but having access to that money, professional trainers, being able to watch 82 games of basketball with the perspective of nba teammates, coaches, training staff...I don't know. It seems to be a heavy advantage over all current rookies.

I would prefer it if Blake was considered a sophmore in the rookie/sophmore game and made it into the all-star game.

Yeah, I know he didn't post much, but I don't know if he never posted. I can't seem to find a post by him in the old threads so I may be wrong though...I have a hard time believing a guy can make nearly 800 posts in this thread as a rookie and we didn't give him some sort of shit :lol

We really need Sharp to come in here to clear things up. I'd say he is clear ROTY right now if he is, but then again, we haven't really put him (or TheWayItblahblah) through the tests to earn the award...you have to be trolled, hard and show you can deal with it before you can get such a prestigious award..

Sorry but he's the ROTY right now. I get what you are saying, but isn't it in the rules that Griffin is still considered a rookie?

He's a rook. You can hate it as much as you want, but none of it counts as much as time on the court IN the NBA. So he's a rook.

Blake shouldn't win it... Chuck made a good point. When an NFL rookie QB sits out a year to develop and learn the game, he's not a true rookie when he takes the field in his second season. Just think how much better Wall would be if he got to sit down for a full year and actually learn how to play basketball.

But, Blake will win it. Because he bangs on heads. All de time.

He's a wizzards fan, what more could we do to make his life horrible, than his own management does daily?

thewayitsmeantotbe19 should be disqualified because he had to get his username changed because it was too long.

Can't believe I just heard Skip Bayless says Blake Griffin is over rated. :lol

He may not be overrated but his dunking sure is.

ESPN made it seem like you needed to tune in to see his new highlights and then they proceeded to show him get an ally oop and dunk it with two hands while hanging on the rim for a while and swinging down with a stupid expression on his face.

BUT THEN...

His team stole or rebounded the ball and he was wide open ahead of the pack and he proceeded to dunk the ball with a slam dunk contest rating of nothing.

He did once again hang on the rim and swing down with the dumb look on his face though.

He's a very good player and hits more outside shots than I thought he could(though he's not a great shooter) but he needs to work on his freethrows. They don't look awful but he's usually reliable to miss one of two.

And his defense seems lacking, especially for his athleticism.

How much time did Blake have to work on his game last year though? When did he start drills again? Probably not until June/July at the earliest. That's hardly an extra year.

More time than Wall and Turner...

The rule should be changed, but Blake's got it in the bag this year.

It's one thing to sit out a year to practice and develop. It's another thing to be sitting out a year to rehab and only be allowed to do basketball related activities after certain amount of months.

I'm thoroughly impressed at how good he is so quickly. I for sure thought it would take him a while to get into the flow of the NBA game, but he's looked naturally good out there on the court.

Blowing out your Achilles is a disadvantage.
Going a year without playing is a big disadvantage.
Playing for the Clippers is a devastating disadvantage.
