Not at all. As I mentioned, there were two calls that I thought were missed by the refs and that should have been called against the Pens. But this "Pens get favourable treatment" talk, while igoring that Matt Cooke was high sticked and bleeding in game 3, and Letang was also high sticked and nothing was called in the same game, grows pretty tiresome. Teams who play the Pens aren't innocent conspiracy victims.
Missed calls happen in every game, they just tend to miraculously happen more often in Pens games. Seriously, most people who watch these games notice it, and even the commentators talk about it.

But keep thinking it's everyone else that's biased and not yourself.

Wow that was a harsh and unfair beating damn. "What did I do?"- :lol classy.
Unfair? Do you know how it started? And was the Ducks fan not at least a willing participant? They were probably both classless douchebags, but without knowing more I wouldn't put blame on one over the other.

[edit] Ahhh "unfair" in that the Canucks fan was above him and had the advantage.... yeah, agreed.

Well the wheels had to come off at some point. This loss will probably make them care enough about the next game to win. That's how the Sharks work.

What happened?! I was following the game on my phone but since I live in Chicago I don't get Wings games unless they're on Versus, and VS was carrying Crosby/Habs tonight.

I'm reading the summary on yahoo and it looks like San Jose just completely broke down.

Man, I'd be ecstatic to see Detroit win Game 5 in San Jose. I think I hate San Jose fans more than I hate their players... but only just barely :lol

Franzen with a cowboy hat trick. awesome

My wife was saying it was probably the best because had they swept, they might have been complacent in the next round and gotten run over. This is a nice wake up call that they can still lose and that they aren't invulnerable. I hope she's right.

Not a bunch of loaded and glassy eyed people passing themselves off as hockey fans. It was pretty awesome hearing everyone turn on their team as soon as it was 2-1 Pens, and then magically start cheering them on like the best thing since sliced bread when they took the lead, though.

Its like you've never heard of Montreal-based Montreal fans. They are a different breed from the rest of us Montreal fans. They will boo their own team in a heartbeat. They're opinionated as fuck, but I love it.

That's hockey for you, especially playoff hockey. I remember when pens played philly in the playoffs and we basically drove a row of flyers fans in our section out of the game with the taunting and shit. When they finally stood up and left, everyone in the section started cheering. It was good stuff, but you find that shit at any sporting event when you are wearing the other teams colors. I had snowballs thrown at me in Buffalo walking to my car wearing a Crosby jersey :lol

me and my friends actually did the exact same thing, except it was in philly! they were probably the trashiest looking people i ever met in my life, the best was this one woman who had about a pound of makeup on her face, was about 5 feet tall, obese and wearing a jersey with her name on the back of it. After the Rangers went up 4-0 in like the first half of the 1st period and my friend kept asking the entire section "is that bad?", they got up to call security on us and never came back. security tried to throw out 2 other ranger fans who they thought were us but then didn't. awesome. I love heckling, and especially at away games. Alucard, you need to grow a thicker skin buddy.

Shut the fuck up Alucard. You and Crosby would make an amazing couple, both arguing and whining as to who'd be the "aggressive bottom".

I'm amazed that you don't know how the real world works by now. If Solo or X26 wore a Gomez jersey to the Mellon Arena, would they expect high fives and a blow job by the time they left?

Understandable. I think even Manics has lost the will. Granted, I anticipate his return should the Habs get knocked off :lol

Sorry dude. Gotta run. Manics just texted, directing me to the "Off-season Thread".

I'm fully expecting you two to shit up the World Cup thread with your Italian ramblings :p

The negativity in this thread between Pens and Habs fans has just turned me right off. There's right and there's wrong and all this hate and vitriol is just plain wrong. Manics feels sad for GAF hockey.

BTW guys, Boston is going to the ECF and they will also draft either Hall or Seguin in June. Have a nice summer !

I don't disagree with you there. Mellon Arena is one of the quietest playoff buildings when the Pens aren't scoring. It pisses me off watching it on TV 'cause I'd be going nuts for 'em in person.

While I know American fans are not as vocal or rowdy as Canadians at hockey games, I do know some of the problem is Mellon arena itself. It's hard to explain if you haven't been there. While they aren't doing soccer like cheers between goals, people are yelling about missed calls and bad plays etc. It's just that the building is like a vacuum and if everyone isn't yelling at the same time with music blaring, the sound just gets swallowed up. If you're in the upper decks, it's a dark, dreary, obstructed view nightmare. I remember the first time I was there and my buddy got up during the game to take a leak, he comes back up to our seats and goes, "Man, it's like a world of light and sound down by the ice, up here is a black hole." I'm hoping the new building is able to generate more live energy.

Go Habs Go!

Even though I'm a CH fan doesn't mean that I'm not aware that they must really come out with their best hockey in years. Washington was a threat but it was star players on their own where the Pens are a team with star players thus much more organized.

BUT, the Habs owned them hard in the 3rd period. It was almost sad seeing the pens skating left and right. They felt really destabilized for the 1st time in this series and I hope that the Habs will ride on this momentum Saturday to come home on Monday and finish this off.

Halak aside, my hat goes to Maxime Lapierre who plays with emotion. It's inspiring to see him score and making the effort. Same thing goes to PK Subban. WOW, he really impresses me. Bergeron looks like the rookie next to him.

I really think that the Habs can win the cup if they get past Pittsburgh.

GO HABS GO!!!!!

Im glad ur still alive :D

i dont like bringing up the refs calls, but since you mentioned it, CBC, after the game, counted 8 valid no calls on the habs.

I've been watching hockey for the longest time like most of you, and usually, i really don't care about calls missing penalties, because in the end, it usually balances out.
BUT, yesterday, was clearly obvious how lop sided it was, it was ridiculous.
Crosby breaking Plakanec's stick???? c'mon.
anyway, im happy we came out with the win, i think we deserved it because of all of those no calls.

What's up with all the negativity and conspiracy theories in this thread?

The Pens and Habs are the middle of an awesome playoff series where every game has been either close or entertaining.

No reason to get all crazy on one another. You guys are starting to sound like NFL fans. It's hockey people. Refs miss calls and sometimes the puck bounces the other way.

Alucard needs to move to Chicago. Blackhawks fans are all nice people, fundamentally incapable of being assholes.

Last year during the Wings/Hawks series I was wearing my Zetty sweater around town. Only one guy talked shit to me, and all he said was, "Boo, Wings suck!" I ignored it, then he came up to me like 10 seconds later and apologized. "Sorry dude, but you gotta admit you kinda asked for it when you wore that jersey!"

It's like, yeah, dude, I know... me not answering is me ignoring you. You didn't hurt my feelings. I'm ok. I know how this works :lol

Even a few weeks ago I wore the sweater to a bar and this guy goes, "Wings suck!" I just said, "Kiss the rings, bitch. You can talk when you even sniff the cup." He just started laughing, clapped me on the shoulder, and walked off.

Blackhawks fans are just so happy to have hockey again that they don't care about anything else.

Edit: OH-- and to sharks fans, it's not that I hate you, it's just that you guys remind me a lot of other Redwings fans, and I hate them. So you get lumped into that whole "Meh, we dont care about hockey but if we're winning then thats cool I guess I'll watch and say I've been watching all the time" stereotype. Not really GAF sharks fans, but the ones I meet in real life.

And sometimes Bettman calls the refs during the match for the "betterment" of the game. Its all good.

We'll most likely lose Game 5 but if you're only going to win one game in a series, that's the way to do it :lol

If Franzen had only woken up like this a little earlier we'd on our way to Conference finals right now...

wow, franzen was beasting last night. probably too late, but it sure would be nice to win game 5 and make a real series out fo this.

I'm pretty comfortable with the fact that we're probably going to lose in game 5. If we get it back for Game 6 then maybe I'll dare to dream

The run that the Wings have had for so long is just ridiculous and while I'm not happy to see it end, it's like waking up the night after you hooked up with just a ridiculously hot girl. You're sad to see her go, but you still got to nail a goddess and you really can't complain :lol

Realistically I think the time of the Red Wings is coming to an end here in the next year or two.

I'm thinking SVSE wanted another game's worth of revenue and were willing to risk a game 5. So the Sharks came out a bit soft, but then got blown out of the water more than they expected.

The only sort of consolation I got from last night was that at least I wasn't a Sharks fan watching their game 5. You have to figure a big win like that puts a bit of fear into San Jose.

Anyway, it was an entertaining game in Montreal, and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Haha. Except that I'm not the father of a Pens player, so who knows? I got some more sympathy from long-time Habs fans and friends here. Heh.

"Many of the younger (under 30) Habs fans these days know squat about hockey. They are there to get drunk even before the pucks drops, buy those ridiculous inflatable Stanley Cups, and see how much havoc they can cause in the streets after actually winning an 'early round' playoffs game.
That being said... wearing an opposing jersey will make you a target, Mr. Crosby! :)
Go Habs Go!"

Alrighty, off to downtown for some sushi. Let's Go Pens!

So Reinsdorf is officially out. Winnipeg Jets watch back on?

I'd definitely say so:
The situation in Glendale remains fluid; if the city does not agree to the league's conditions, it is possible the NHL will instead move quickly to finalize a purchase agreement with Canadian billionaire David Thomson and move the team to Winnipeg. Sources tell ESPN.com there is a purchase agreement ready if the Glendale situation disintegrates.

There is also a rumor that somebody from the NHL was on the radio talking about the league already having a 2010-2011 schedule ready with Winnipeg penciled in just in case, but the rumor hasn't been corroborated yet.

I'm hoping this Ice Edge deal falls through as well. Winnipeg Jets would be back in business.

So the Penguins lose, the Red Wings win, and the Winnipeg Jets have a real shot at being back next year. How could this day be any better?

aidan said:

I wonder what happened to cause the deal with Reinsdorf to fall through.

I still think it's too soon to say that the Coyotes are being sold to Thomson and are moving to Winnipeg, Ice Edge is still a hurdle for the pro-Winnipeg Coyotes crew, though I'm sure they're going to want some serious concessions from Glendale for being snubbed in the first place, Ice Edge has the upper hand in negotiations now.

Anyone think Philly will be able to squeeze a W in tonight? I'm hoping the Bruins sweep those bastards, so if Montreal wins (BELIEVE!)..

And then if Chicago wins the series with Detroit being the third team in history to comeback from an 0-3 deficit(BELIEVE!) then ..

Then FOUR of the original six in the CF..(BELIEVE!)

:lol :lol :lol

I disagree. I know a few 'Hawks fans that are total pricks.

It is nice having a competitive team again. The last decade+ was a brutal time to be a 'Hawks fan. :D

I really hope so. Having the Jets back would be great.

Oh God I hope not. I mean I can't see the Wings being a team that wouldn't compete for a playoff spot every year. I certainly hope we don't get another Dead Wings era. I wouldn't be able to cope since I've been so spoiled. The Wings have been a dominant team ever since I was a kid. :lol

PAGING WINGS FANS!!!:

This might be Lidströms last year
as you all know
, his son has been accepted to a hockey education at his old club Västerås.

And about the whole Alucard should go outside more, you are probably all kidding, if not: That is not normal behaviour at NHL games, give him a rest:P Been at the tank with a Hawks shirt, no problems. But i have a picture of the shark biting my head:P

It's a different world in the playoffs. A regular season B's-Habs game at the Garden is rowdy as is, but during the playoffs, it's flat-out hostile (I've been to a number of both). The intensity of everything is just ramped up. If Alucard went to the Bell Centre to see a Pens-Habs game during the regular season, he'd probably be left alone for the most part.

If the Habs can continue to be Bettman's worst nightmare and we get a Habs/B's ECF, man oh man, I'd be in heaven

But realistically, I expect Gary to bounce back

When people talk about the downfall of the Wings they make it sound like they'll become like the Islanders or something.
Yeah the next 15 years probably won't be as good to them as the past 15 were, but they still have a great core of players with many good years left in them, some great talent coming up, and maybe the best management in the league. They'll continue to be a good team for many years. For example, next season they'll most likely be a lot better than they were this year.

Flyers club source tells CSNPhilly.com decision just made: Gagne is in the lineup tonight

:) I just want to see a good game, preferably with a flyers W so I can watch some more good games.
