One thing that surprised me a lot about this introductory episode was the amount of shots that were minimalist on character detail. More than often these were the most free-flowing in terms of lineart. It is a simplistic design, but I absolutely love the way it looks. It reminds me a lot of Mamoru Hosoda's works with the simple shapes filled with flat colours. It's almost like looking at a drop of water sliding down a rocky path.
The humour hits a lot closer now than two years ago whenI didn't want to hook up with a Japanese girlfriend the cool kids weren't liking it I was a lot more cynical about the premise. The way each of the four characters appear on screen sells me on the show almost immediately: Yui is clumsy and innocent, and her movements are the most baby-like, Ritsu is a tomboy who doesn't really care about her posture and they way she comes across to anyone; Mio is proper and the most lady-like, or at the very least that's how she wants to be; and Tsumugi, while the ojousama of yore, is curious about her new and strange set of friends like a little kid would treat a kitten or something. It's a joy to watch.
I remember I dropped this show in episode two back then because I didn't find the girls' interactions fun and didn't see anything else carrying the show; I don't know what hit me now. Maybe I am a hipster/anti-hipster? We shall see!

Ha. I've watched the entire ___ of the Stars series/ova's/etc. Great stuff.
It's funny because I appreciate the show a lot more on second viewing and would now put it in my top 5 of all time. Heh.

LOGH and BOTS are still probably my #1 and #2 because they are pretty much top-tier space opera within the medium, and cover everything I love about the genre - classicial music, endearing characters, spaceships, political intrigue, galactic empires, all the good stuff.
Pfft, Jinto is a great character, and part of the reason why the show is so good, real talk.
I feel the same way about Jinto. A part of me still kinda wish things would've ended differently in the second season.

from as soon as Mao approached Amano. I was all like "Oh fuck, wait, that picture of the kid, that was... OH FUCK, AND THERE SHE FUCKING IS. Man, why do the best girls have to either die or be evil?" And I bet you Mao has the "picture diary" or some such. Unless she's really nothing more than Hinata's lesbo lover. In either case, it doesn't really matter.
Also,
did anyone else chuckle how Hinata, the blatant tomboy lesbo has the "breeder" diary? I know it's about dog breeding and all that, but the double entendre on Hinata's apparent sexuality is really classy.

Eh, Crest/Banner wouldn't work without Jinto. I think there's a super aversion among jaded anime fans towards useless mains and it is justified but Jinto doesn't fall under that classification. He's not toally useless and he has a backbone. The entire point of Crest is the banter between Jinto and Lafiel. If Jinto were a different character, I doubt Crest would have been as memorable.
I agree, I just think that Jinto was okay at first but may have ended up holding Crest back a bit. Its still great either way though. Maybe its just my love of chaos. The other 'chaos' in Crest didn't get enough screen time.

The only Deen show I've watched is Giant Killing and that was pretty good!
I wish the Madoka Magica blurays would release sooner. I hate having to wait until February for even the first disc. The last Utena boxset is coming out early DEcember though, and they will ship Oreimo with it finally so that's good news at least. But I'm greedy. I want everything now ;_;
I got a few favourites by deen such as Groove Adventure Rave,Hakuoki,Kore wa Zombie desu ka? and..........and.....yeah...thats all. Doesn't change the fact they're terrible like most of the time. The last collaboration between Deen and Okada is Vampire knight and it was terrible.
Ringo isn't exactly an easy character for a first role in voice acting, but Marie Miyake has done an excellent job.
Plus, she looks like Ringo! (sort of)

They make a lot of terrible series. And by terrible I mean down right awful and unwatchable.
They gave me Higurashi though so I can't complain too much. The only other DEEN series I've liked since was Giant Killing. But that was great, shame nobody actually bought it

Ringo isn't exactly an easy character for a first role in voice acting, but Marie Miyake has done an excellent job.

My major issue with LoGH is the Earth Cult. They're very cartoonish villains that are out-of-place in that universe and end up dragging the show down.

Fate/Zero episode 9 was kind of boring.

Kayneth survived that. The 1st gunshot wound was treated like a real gunshot wound. It hit his shoulder, but still was incredibly serious with all the blood loss that followed. Then he coughs up what appears to be a gallon of blood and survives because of a "miracle"??? FUCK THAT!
