Well, I did get to attend one meeting of my schools "animation society," walking away with anticipation to see more of Baccano (Firo seemed cool even though the plot was difficult to follow, ep 5). Tiger and Bunny was nice but it has so much brand advertising, animation looked nice for the fighting for Barnaby's Bday, and they hyped me for Star Driver even though it seemed to be some filler boat in the sky episode.

Nichijou was rather boring with only some girl drawing cool characters to the teacher skit being memorable. Hidan No Aria (9,10) and Kore Wa Zombie (chainsaw magical dude) were crazy but not something I would watch. I think they shall switch to Steins Gate and Ano Hana in two weeks, so two more anime I never saw before.

Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere 1

Again, hard to not be influenced by the discussion I've witnessed, nonetheless...

What did I just watch? Like, it was flashy and funny as hell, and there were like twenty billion characters, and Jun Fukuyama's Toori was amazing in his audacity, but I couldn't make any sense out of it.
Will give another week to see if it stays this random or not. And if they give Minori Chihara more singing time.

Well, the show was a nice, self-contained little package and I can sort of appreciate that. Perhaps it could've done with a bit less of the awkward standard romance subplot that ultimately didn't really go anywhere but at least the last couple of eps managed to deliver in the mindless action department.

This show could've been Sunrise'd to hell and back so it was nice that it didn't end up going down that route. Not entirely, at least.

Tomino really sucks at writing. The show is overly interested in made-up lingo that only the writer understands, all the characters talk in stilted dialect, and converse in bizarre non sequiturs. There's clearly some kind of plot buried in this but it's incomprehensible because the writer doesn't know how to explain it in relate-able terms, or maybe he's not even interested in doing so. I don't think Tomino's brain works like a normal person's.

It's funny how Tomino takes mecha to its logically silly conclusion, with them doing things like trying to open doors, plugging in power cables, and carrying around giant plates and cars.

There's a tsunami scene which seems in rather bad taste now. Also, I like how Yuu saves Hime's house, but presumably a bunch of people still died since he didn't stop the tsunami everywhere. I guess we're not supposed to care about them.

I have to keep mentioning the soundtrack. This is absolutely up there with Kanno's best work and its criminal how overqualified it is for this show.

Expecting something at least as good/bad as Strawberry Panic or Kannazuki no Miko. We'll see about that.

One thing to know about this, besides that most of the people here who watched it didn't like it (I thought the couple of episodes I saw were okay, but didn't watch the later two thirds of the show): It's an adult VN adaptation, with the guy removed, and like in some other such cases, this means the characters are lesbians now (another example of that same shift would be Koihime Musou, though that's a quite different show otherwise).

In both cases, the changes are almost certainly for the better...

I paid 10 dollars for the entire show on dvd. Clearance at a BB years ago. I feel that's about what it is worth.
