Oh come on ref. Straight Red for a hard side tackle, but a guy gives cleats and a knee to the face and that's just a yellow? Ridiculous. Super harsh card for a game that you've let be heavy physical all of the first half so far. I've seen way worse tackles get yellows.

SKC has looked flat on offense almost all game so far. It's just letting Houston attack and attack and attack. At least we got it level with the deserved penalty. But now we have to play an entire half with 10 men. Gonna be almost impossible to win. Hopefully we can salvage a road point at least.

EDIT :::

Oh for fuck's sake! I just watched the highlight with the Houston announcers. "He gets a high foot. Just a nick. Just a nick. You're not gonna get any blood. He's fine to continue on. Look at his eyes. He's not looking at the player, he's on the ball." Claiming that he was looking at the ball the whole time...so dangerous plays are okay so long as you don't actually look at the other player? Really? lol

Son of a bitch. A harsh red and a accident goal. Whatever.

NY is in the driver's seat for #1 in the east tonight it seems.

Kicking myself for not going to the Union game tonight.

Wife got home from work at 5 and we were just about to jump in the car but I just couldnt bring myself to drive 90minutes and the game be cancelled or worse the weather be as bad as they said it would be..

"Rain, lightning, strong winds and hail"...if if was me alone I wouldnt have given a shit but I had the family to think about.

And wouldnt you know it, game goes off with out a hitch and I'm stuck home reading updates on twitter while she makes me sit through Big Brother...gah!

Ah well, NY away this weekend then All-Star game next week, still pissy about tonight tho...

Sitting at the Quakes game waiting for it to start...

I forgot that Philly vs Aston Villa was today, how come that game is not listed on the MLS app but Seattle vs Chelsea is?

What do folks think of this "smart soccer" thing

The micoach Elite System includes a small data cell that fits into a player’s base layer in a protective pocket on the back between the shoulder blades. Connected by a series of electrodes and sensors woven into the fabric of the base layer, the cell wirelessly transmits more than 200 data records per second from each player to a central computer and then is displayed in a series of simplified insights and results on the coach’s iPad. At the touch of his fingertips, a coach can monitor the workload of an individual player, compare one athlete with another or view the whole team to gain a complete picture of the squad.

In the future, MLS fans will be able to experience greater insight from the field of play as live, on-field player data will become an integral part of the game experience, whether watching from home or within the stadium.

I love stats so I'm really hoping they make lots of that data publicly available, that could be even better than Opta

That is pretty awesome and carries potentially large implications for the future of, not just the MLS, but sports in general.

I went ahead and started a new thread on it, if any one is interested in some general discussion about this technology.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing this thread? Every time I click on the link, it logs me out of GAF... I don't know what the problem is but I'm blaming Meus' wall of quotes.

Once again the Union lose to a team cause were a team of midgets...god I cant wait till Bakary is ready to play. 7 Red Bull players on the field were taller then our whole team..
We get beat in the air like its are job, plus Macmath seems to suck on crosses...but is amazing when the shots are directed at him.

I got my Season Ticket loyalty points in an auction finally, if all goes well my son will be escorting the MLS All-Stars or Chelsea onto the field this Wed. Fingers crossed, little man will have a once in a life time experince if all goes well.

SKC vs Revs is kind of what I expected so far. Revs playing in their half alot looking for passes forward. Getting a couple decent breaks down field. They are really frustrating our midfield. We just can't get a lot going.

I'm waiting for the highlight of that last SKC chance right before half in stoppage time. We had two guys taken down in the box with nothing called. I want the replay before I start bitching too loudly.

Anyone watching at home catch whether or not Williams was actually offside on that disallowed goal?

Watching the highlight. It was super super close. In real time I was like, "Oh yeah, he's Offside". Then when I tried to pause it on the pass, it was a lot closer than the first look. I think it might have been an ok call, but only by the slightest of margins. DeRo took a line into the 6 yard box for the ball while the defender was still moving forward.

Wow...nice dive Feilhaber.

EDIT:::::

Ref hasn't stopped blowing his whistle all second half. Slightest contact is called a foul now.

Rumors are swirling as the trade dead-line is coming closer..

'Team matter' keeps Adu off the field for Union
Creative midfielder Freddy Adu did not travel with the club for the road game and it was not due to an injury. After the game, interim head coach John Hackworth did not elaborate on why Adu was left off the roster, only saying it was a “team matter.”

and of course the Shea rumor from another article.

What we also know is that FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea was not in the Dallas 18 today against Portland

A Brek for Freddy trade would be crazy. I dont think its gonna happen but it would be intresting

Was at the press conference; Hackworth did also say he expected Freddy would be available for the next match. I don't know how much I would read into it.

Freddy was benched because he missed curfew, he was out at Xfinity Live late on Friday night apparently getting ugly chicks phone numbers https://twitter.com/Mari302/status/226525350786637824

nothing more

the only way he gets traded is if it's a Nowak trade AKA for nothing in return, because he has no value. He fucking stinks. If your club only plays once a month maybe Freddy would be a good fit as that's how often he puts together decent performances for the Union

Some meat for you Union fans - Nowak is suing the team, which means the terms of his firing are public. Hmm, this sounds familiar (bold is mine):

1. various material breaches of League Rules (including the League's Collective Bargaining Agreement), including physical confrontations with players and officials during a Team game resulting in a fine and multi-game suspension, interfering with the rights of Team players to contact the players' union with concerns, subjecting Team players to inappropriate hazing activities and engaging in behavior that put the health and safety of Team players at risk.

2. material breaches of the Employment Agreement, including engaging in discussions regarding, and otherwise actively seeking, employment by other professional soccer teams in Europe and making disparaging remarks to third parties regarding Club, its management and its ownership.

3. demonstrating gross negligence, including putting the health and safety of Team players at risk by requiring injured players to participate in strenuous training activities, not allowing players to have water during such activities despite temperatures in excess of 80 degrees, ignoring the advice of the head athletic trainer regarding which players are healthy enough to play in games and participate in training sessions and creating an atmosphere where medical issues should be hid from medical staff and not treated.

4. committing actions that have reflected ill a materially adverse manner on the integrity, reputation and goodwill of Club and the Team (in the eyes of the League, U.S. Soccer, current and potential Team players, sponsors and fans), including the unusually harsh treatment of players described above, actions during Team games that have resulted in fines and suspensions, the multiple breaches of League Rules and a discussion (by you or your agent on your behalf) with the head of U.S. Soccer that was in very poor taste and left a very bad impression with U.S. Soccer.

5. multiple incidents of insubordination with respect to the Club's Chief Executive Officer, including claiming at one point (in direct contradiction to the terms of the Employment Agreement) that he does not report to the Club's Chief Executive Officer.

6. various material breaches of Team Rules, including creating a hostile work environment and culture of fear for Team players and other front office employees by orally berating and physically intimidating fellow employees.

All the time.

I assume you mean Penn Station in NYC and not Penn Station in Newark. Your options are:

1) Take the PATH from Harrison, transfer at Journal Square to the Hoboken/33rd St train, get off at 33rd St and walk the 1-2 blocks over to Penn Station.
2) Walk over to Newark Penn Station and take a NJ Transit commuter train to NYC's Penn Station.

And if you're wondering about the other way around just reverse the directions.
