2012 Major League Soccer |OT| THIS LEAGUE IS RELEVANT!

Damn 3/4 teams I was rooting for lost, only DC made it through. Rooting for DC vs Seattle now...

I want to root for DC over Houston, but I think if Houston wins, Sounders get to host the final, but NOT if DC wins, right? So screw DC!

Martinez's goal was so nuts. I was at a pub watching (packed with Sounders fans), and the place went absolutely bonkers.

Too bad I couldn't find an affordable flight down to LA for the weekend :(

Don't worry, in all likelihood NYRB will replace him with someone who is equally incompetent.

You know it will be another foreigner, and just when Backe was starting to figure out MLS...

Tiffert wearing the crimson mask, replays didn't show any vicious contact. Either the wind busted him open or it was a Ric Flair blade job.

Totally lttp...but I thought this myself.

Holy hell it's been some time since I've visited this thread.

Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough. Trophies boys......MOAR F****N TROPHIES!!!!!

No way NY2 is called the MetroStars... NYRB must have kept some sort of rights to that name. What would they do if Red Bull ever sold the team? New owners would change it back I'm sure. Not saying Red Bull is likely to sell, but they need a contingency plan just in case.

There's a huge pile of boxes of unopened Metrostars jerseys in the garage area of RBA. Saw it when I was helping paint tifo.

I was hoping they were next year's jerseys and their plan was to change back to Metrostars but they were 2006 Metro jerseys that never went to stores.

Houston better be careful today with fouls. Six players can be suspended on their next yellow. Carr is out injured though.

Corey Ashe, Calen Carr, Brad Davis, Boniek Garcia, Tally Hall, Kofi Sarkodie

Some Brazilian dude named Augusto making his MLS debut, how bizarre

We've had him on loan from Fluminense for a few months but he never got playing time.

NBCSN's closeups during the action are terrible. I think I missed that one free kick because they were too busy jabbering about something.

I'm wearing that exact outfit.

LOL

looking forward to the LA - Houston final. The pace and overall game just seemed a lot more fast and intense in the playoffs vs the regular mls season.

Looked like a champions league game

Galaxy are just at another level, let's face it. But it just shows how much parity there is in MLS when they were in last place near the halfway point, before Omar Gonzalez came back.

Donovan and Keane have developed a pretty amazing understanding for just a year and a half together, over the last few months they are making opposing defenses look AYSO level...

I have been rooting against them all along, but at this point they deserve to win.

Sigi's tactics were complete garbage last night. Boys played like amateurs. Tired and no spirit whatsoever. Even Brad admitted it last night:

Fuckin hell. I barely slept last night. Just dreadful, all in all.

Come Sunday we need a bloody miracle...

I would think that Sounders has a lot of quality in their squad. What killed them is the change of tactics/formation for this match. I think Sigi went for a draw and got trashed for being stupid.

Was out of town since Thursday and just now had a chance to look at the latest standings...

No. Just...no. It's the most uninteresting matchup you could have imagined. I understand things can, and hopefully will, change on Sunday. But as it is now...bleh.

Shit sucked real bad guys, real bad.

Trying to remain optimistic, since the Sounders DID beat LA 4-0 at home earlier this season, but still. Shit sucks.

Was at the Galaxy/Sounders game on sunday, and it was glorious. It seems the Sounders were lined up to push for a draw to take it to Seattle for the win but the Galaxy are playing at peak right now, like their best from last year. Landon is back, and energized.. Beckham while not scoring is all over the goddamn field, high energy. Keane and Magee are on fire, Gonzalez and Wilhelmsson are worked together as good as Landon and Keane and overall they are just connecting where they need to. Glad to see Bruce yank Buddle from starting lately, he's dragging the front line down.

Seattle played a decent game, but it did seem like they lost their drive after that second goal. I know Sounders fans are awesome and winning in Seattle is a tough thing to do.. good thing we don't need to win. We just need to hold the aggregate.

If LA moves on, and Houston does as well the cup will be in LA and I'll get to go again this year.

Break all of their legs....ALL of them. Especially Gonzalez.

This weekend, we ECS are going to Starfire to raise hell and ensure they realize how important this is to us.

Nothing less than the lads up 3:0/4:1/5:2 at the end of 90 will be acceptable...

Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena has repeatedly said striker Robbie Keane was Major League Soccer's best player for much of the season. But apparently he's not among the most valuable.

MLS released a list of finalists for its major postseason awards Thursday, and Keane's name was nowhere to found despite the fact he finished fourth in the league in scoring with 16 goals.

Keane also finished first in something called the Castrol Index, a mathematical formula similar to the NFL's quarterback rating that measures everything a player does during a game. And he had a goal or assist in 15 of the Galaxy's final 19 games, leading the team out of the Western Conference cellar to within a game of a second consecutive appearance in the MLS Cup.

The Galaxy plays Sunday in Seattle in the second leg of the MLS Western Conference finals, needing only to protect a 3-0 lead to advance to the championship game it won last year. Keane has scored a pair of goals in each of the Galaxy's last two playoff games.

Keane was not alone in his omission, with no Galaxy player listed among the finalists in any category. Even Chivas USA, the Galaxy's roommate at the Home Depot Center and the conference's last-place team, did better than that, placing two players on the list.

Chivas all-star goalkeeper Dan Kennedy is one of three nominees for best player at the position while defender Ante Jazic is a finalist for the individual fair play prize, awarded based on objective criteria such as fouls committed, cards received and minutes played as well as a subjective evaluation of sportsmanlike behavior.

The three finalists for MVP are Thierry Henry of the New York Red Bulls, Graham Zusi of Sporting Kansas City and Chris Wondolowski of the San Jose Earthquakes, who tied the league record for goals in a season with 27.

Finalists are chosen based on results of ballots cast by current MLS players, MLS club officials (coaches, technical directors, public relations staff) and members of the media.
