Boston apparently wanted Mayo ($5.6 million), Mike Conley ($6.5 million), Dante Cunningham ($2 million) and rookie Josh Selby ($550,000) in a large transaction that included draft picks.

It's unclear who the Celtics would have sent the Griz in addition to Allen ($10 million) to satisfy the nearly $15 million swap in salaries.

So yeah no wonder it fell through.

Btw, how did the clippers not win the division title in 06 when they had the better seeding in the playoffs? that makes 0 sense

Edit: Phoenix, of course lol

Henry Abbot blows. He has an unhealthy dislike of Kobe.

Then again, so does Kelly Dwyer on Yahoo.

The link? Both Portland Blazers fans. Just sayin'

No just saying. It's the truth. One of the reasons I ignore them.

Abbot once said he was responsible for his worst moment as a sports fan. I'm sure he'd have no problem being objective after that.

Who actually likes KoMe?

People appreciate winners. New concept I know.

The pacific division has been won by LAL or PHX for like 2 decades. or when ever divisions came in.

LeBron beating out KD for the MVP would be absolutely absurd. That ESPN article claiming he's a real contender better be a farce.

How do you not include the fact that Henry Abbott thinks that Lebron is a better player than Larry ever was?

Larry is an all time great winner but he admittingly couldn't do some of the things LBJ can do. You want to win though you always go with Larry though.

The NBA Rankings has never been about individual talent alone. Elgin Baylor was the most individually talented player of his generation, could put up numbers no other perimeter player has ever put up, but no one in their right mind thinks he's a top 5 basketball player.

Lebron may be a top 10 talent in the history of the NBA, but he's not a top 10 player at this point, every top 10 player has at least one ring...every Lebron fan conveniently loses sight of this when discussing Lebron.

They rant and rave about him in a way they don't extend to the likes of Elgin or even Oscar (who has one ring) despite them being statistically more dominant than Lebron has ever been.

There were only 2 divisions back then. I think the 3rd division was added when the Wolves became a team? or was it later?

edit: just noticed pacific division winner won 57 or more every year but one in that listing.

Like what? Average 26/10/7/50%/42%/90% during a championship run? That Larry, what a scrub.

... and that wasn't even his best statistical season by a long stretch.

Is it really worth replying too? i mean, if someone wants to suck on LBJ's chocolate salty nuts so much they've lost almost all objectivity. It's not worth it.

You have to remember this was during the era where average points per game was like 110 or 120.

This same reason why MJ's number was so impressive. He did it when teams were scoring 80-90 a game.

Everyone knows that, but there were other things in that era like back to back to back games regularly, horrible travel accommodations, horrible physical therapy and injury prevention techniques, horrible shoes, etc.

There's a reason why most of those players peaked in their first 5 or 6 years, because once they sustained injuries and needed surgery, they were never the same...something most of today's premiere players don't really deal with.

Also, imagine everyone playing at the breakneck pace of those 60's and 70's teams? Most modern NBA stars would be gassed and fatigued midway through the season.

I know the style of the game has changed, but those numbers are still those numbers. So if we're talking about "statistically brilliant perimeter players without more than one ring"...Lebron isn't even in front of those two.

Not to mention, steals and blocks weren't even tabulated then, if they were, they would probably be up about 3-4 steals a game too

Jordan's best seasons the average was ~110 PPG. And in his later years that PPG was brought down in part due to the the NBA watering it's league down with expansion.

That's what makes Jordan so overrated, people thinking he went up against such great defensive because of a couple of hard fouls from the Pistons/Knicks.
