2012 NBA Playoffs |OT2| OKC VS LA: Black on Black Crime

Actually, if you guys lost Wade instead of Bosh, your chances would be better. People underestimate how much Bosh spaces the floor and the 15-20 foot jumper keeps teams honest.

He's a far more important component to the Heat's long term success than ESPN would let on. Also, the Pacers are basically what the Blazers were supposed to be, personnel wise, with far worse coaching.

They aren't a bad team and they aren't scared the Heat.

That goes a long way, believe it or not.

When Wade wasn't playing this year our 3 pt shooters weren't complete ass.

Maybe it is time to ship his ass out

Honestly the officiating in these past two games is so bad that I no longer have ammo when people I know call the NBA rigged. The thunder would have won by 10+ both nights if the refs were even close to even. It's embarrassing and not even subtle at this point. At least I get to laugh as Kobe shoots his team out of another game while dumb fans/analysts act like him isoing for long 2's is "clutch".

Look forward to Kobe leading the league in scoring next year at 38% shooting while idiots like Bayless call him a true winner when he has only been the best player on a title team once, and that was against an LOL Magic team that barely beat a Glen Davis led Celtics squad.

Eh, Wade is still pretty great.

The problem with these gambles is that it's just that; a gamble. One of those big 3 gets hurt and the team is in a tailspin.

Not every team has the Czzz/5pur5/Bulls ability to call up rooks and hold the line when the superstars get hurt.

That goes squarely on coaching and the ability to get the best out of your guys. I always thought that Spo was in over his head to try and coach this team. There are certain coaches that have the resume to tell these guys to STFU and listen to me.

Phil
Riles
Pop

and to a lesser degree

Doc
Thibs

And none of those guys are walking through that door in MIA.

If they rigged it for the Lakers, they rigged it AGAINST the Clippers.

The calls & non-calls in the Memphis games were insane.

Stern does not want 2 L.A. teams to be in the top position.

I don't get it, they both won and are both going to lose. How is it rigged for either one? If the nba was going to rig it the team they are against wouldn't win.

The whole problem with the "league is rigged" nonsense is that, if it's rigged, why do the Lakers ever lose at all?

I mean, it's rigged, right?

Why would Stern let us get swept last year? Did Dallas beat the odds?

But if they did, then how is the league "rigged"?

I don't understand it either especially when the argument is that the nba is working against the team and players that will make them more money.

i could see someone try and make the far fetched argument that in this lock out season the nba is rigging it for the small market teams against the bigger ones to prove their lockout was a success. Like the pacers over the superheat, okc and spurs over LA teams, and Phili over Boston. But even then it holds no merit because the losing teams just flat out deserved to lose.

In fact stern has had very little influence over these playoffs compared to others.

It's the excuse that people conjure up in their minds when things don't go as they would like them to.

Does the NBA have horribly imbalanced calling at times? Yes

Do certain officials have tendencies over others? Yes

Is the league as a whole rigged? You tell me. The Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat in 6. David Stern hates Mark Cuban.

Yeah, my eyes work just fine.

Ask Stacey King how nice Jeffrey was.

Or Kwame. Or Rip Hamilton.

Or Tony Kukoc.

Hell, ask Charmillionaire!

Or watch his HOF speech where he's ripping John Stockton on a day he's being honored as well.

Did all that happen before 1991?

what does niceness have to do with being a good teammate

hes funny, and arrogant, and can be a dick

but none of that has fuck all with being a good teammate

things like, you know, supporting your team when it matters, playing team basketball because you understand that its the best way to win and not just to show people what an amazing team player you are after theyve been yelling at you for your entire career, and trusting the people around you

he didnt do these things well early in his career, as everyone has said. he did them later, as has also been said many times

so like what are you even babbling about anymore

i cant tell if youre being disingenuous because youre trying to be funny, or if youre just dumb

i mean youre dumb enough to think when i said after that i literally meant like the day right after 1991, and not due to his fathers death and the circumstances surrounding his first retirement

so i really cant tell

Hilarious.

Yes Duki, of course. I love this shit you're spewing.

I guess Jeffrey was
supporting your team when it matters, playing team basketball because you understand that its the best way to win and not just to show people what an amazing team player you are after theyve been yelling at you for your entire career, and trusting the people around you
when he played in Washington, right?

What happened to all that with Jerry Stackhouse?

Kwame Brown?

Rip Hamilton?

How much better did Jeffrey make them? How much did he trust them? Jeffrey is the same fucking guy he was when he entered the league at his core.

When shit wasn't going his way, he became the same guy he was "before 1991".

Let him be, Lakers fans are at an all time high in terms of emotion.

welp, that sucked again.

1. Kobe cost them the game. Again. Hero ball for 6 minutes? What the fuck. From the time Blake scored a layup, they scored 4 points (not counting the final worthless basket). After doiminating the entire game on offense, being able to set their defense as a result, Kobe decided to settle on hero jumpers for almost the entire rest of the way. I believe only Ron and Bynum (given the ball late) got a single shot off in that timeframe.

2. Mike Brown has made every right adjustment, for the most part. In game 2 the adjustment was made on WB's play and Kobe blew the game by himself. In game 4, the adjustment was made by keeping Drew and Pau both in with Kobe out to keep the offense rolling, and it worked. And then Kobe blew the game by himself.

3. Pau is going to get shit on (already is) for his turnover (which was terrible), but that sequence happened solely because Pau was completely out of rhythm by Kobe freezing him out the entire 4th quarter. At least 3 other times he was wide open and ignored. When Pau finally got it, he was surprised and out of rhythm and panicked a bit. But it never would have happened if Pau had touche the ball ONCE in the fucking 4th prior to that. I even noted that Pau had 8 shots last night and that was not good. It happened again. Bynum frozen out too. Why!?

4. In game 2 is was mostly Kobe screwing up, but tonight it was just trying to be a hero. Why did he have to go away from the gameplan? Why did he stop creating for others? They've proven they can hit the shots. Kobe believed he had to will them to win because he's playing versus Durant...which btw..

5. Tonight the torch was officially passed. Durant is now the league's best and most deadly offensive player. All the talk is on WB, but durant has been amazing in this series. And when that final play happened, I knew he was going to take a pull up 3 and I knew it was going in well before he shot it. Just knew. I used to feel that way about Kobe, but it's gone. And now it's Durant. Tonight, IMO, he became the league's best offensive weapon and maybe the best perimeter player (I don't give a fuck, until Bron shows mental fortitude I'm swinging it to KD).

And that's that. Heartbreaking losses. Missed Odom tonight, he'd have brought the ball up and Kobe wouldn't have been able to hero as much.

I picked OKC in 5 and they will do it. But it was way harder for them than I thought. Still, I feel like this team is poised to win it all.

Odom? This team's problems are deeper than a missing Lamar Odom, Mamba.

And seriously, what did you think would happen next round? We've talked about this in the past, iirc.

I meant just having Odom there to bring the ball up would have allowed someone else to try and create a play. Kobe went into "only create for myself" mode for 6 minutes until he finally passed to Pau out of necessity (hard double).

If the Lakers won this game and this series, it would have been because Kobe played within the system and/or created for others, like he always did during title runs. In that case, I still think they could have beaten the Spurs. I may be wrong, but I still just don't buy into them.

The team's problems run only as deep as what version of Kobe wants to show up late. The one with a chip on his shoulder or the one who wants to win a title. And I've said all year the one matchup I felt they had no answer for was OKC and have been surprised they pretty much did figure them out. Just a couple mistakes from being up 3-1...

I agree with some of what you're saying but the reality is that the 5pur5 have caught fire at most opportune time. 17 straight and 7-0 so far in the playoffs. They look damn near unbeatable and like I said earlier to ph33nix, Pop has gotten the best outta his guys. Leonard? Green? Splitter is looking good...You think that Brown could make those guys into legit contributors? Hell, he even made DeJuan Blair into something of note...JAXXX is playing pretty decent ball and Fat Diaw is contributing. The way he is mindfucking VDN should be against the law.

I put all of that squarely on coaching.

So, what it comes down to for me is talent and coaching--that is what wins championships. And right now, in these playoffs, no one has more of it than the 5pur5. The Crimson Timberlake said to me once that 5 in 5pur5 may have a new meaning soon and you know what?

He might be right.

So other than last night when Durant missed the 3 pointer to send the game to overtime, Durant has been clutch down the stretch while Kobe has been...anti-clutch for the most part. Is this a passing of the torch of sorts from the Kobe era to the Durant era? ( Sorry lebron fans, but Lebron has never been clutch down the stretch )

Durant has as many playoff game winners this year as Kobe does in his career..

so sure , why not.

Oh, Pop is the best coach in the league and one of the few coaches whose impact is beyond substitution patterns. There is no argument from me there.

But games are still won and lost by the players, mostly. I think they would have problems against the LAL who have proven to control tempo (yes, blown out last 2 just like LAL did to Dallas before being swept). Almost no one thought LAL could hang with OKC, especially after game 1. But once the Lakers focused, they proved to be about as good as OKC.

And we've seen this script recently. But with all the injuries, lockout craziness, etc, they may win since OKC is their only threat. Again, whoever wins that series, IMO, will win it all. But have some of the Spurs players like Leonard played under pressure? Have to see it, first.

I thought this was OKC's year from the very beginning. Being young, athletic, with no turnover from their core in a lockout year, I figured they'd win it all. I see no reason to change my mind now.

Daggered Phx Twice. Daggered Indy. Daggered Spurs at least one time I distinctly remember.

None of those include just closing out games up 3+ or FTs to dagger, etc.

So not right. But I'm sure Durant will get there in his career. And of course title teams usually don't need many daggers since they're up a bunch. But Utah wouldn't know about that.

It'll be funny when the Lakers get rid of Gasol and are worse than they are now. Can't wait.

They'll be worse with too, since I think this was his final really good season in his tank. He, Kobe, Ron all older next season in their 30s...

Did you see the footage from halftime of the Clippers game today? Pop, Timmy and Parker laughing it up, down 10? I was skeptical before the post season started but I've watched a few games and I'm a believer. I think the 5pur5 are on a mission, the right way. They are a team with very few weaknesses right now if you consider the talent (Thunder vs. 5pur5) a push, then it goes to coaching and adjustments.

Pop will likely destroy Brooks in that department. That Reggie Evans foul trolling he did today was just a taste.

Problem with the Thunder is, they have no half court game and no post play (unless you count Collision). When the 5pur5 change the tempo (and they will) how will they react? The Lakers figured some things out defensively in this series and Pop will tweak those things going forward.

I think the Thunder have a shot but I'm not as convinced beyond a doubt as you.

I'm not convinced "beyond a doubt." I mean, they're only 1 of 2 teams that can win it all. OKC is who I'm picking but i don't see it as anywhere close to set in stone.

The Thunder have half court play, they proved that tonight. Sure, no post play, but they score in the paint a lot, regardless. You don't need post play to win; The Cs are an example of that.

And it's not like the Spurs have great post play outside of Duncan who will be slowed, IMO. Duncan 5 years ago would eat them alive, but right now I think you'll see him wear down. Spurs and OKC are basically identical in where they shoot the ball.

I'd love to see if someone like Leonard has the balls to hit a big 3rd quarter shot from outside in game 5 of a 2-2 series.

This post is damn poetic yo

People say that LeBron is a genetic freak but man, Durant with that length and height...to be that agile...he's an inch shorter than guys like Bynum/Gasol.

Such a shame that Odom didn't live up to his potential during his time in the league.

He had the exact same thing, size wise...he could have been a motherfucking BEAST.

This post is damn poetic yo

I'm tearing up over here

I'm making my team mates better.
