That new rock texture is sexy.

Is it a custom map? Because tiling of sand texture on the left is really bad looking and I remember original Crysis maps having really well done texture job.

It's from level 2 , the sand texture depends on the scene and the camera position and also it looks better if i have also lot's of AA enabled.Here's a shot from the first level

Aaaaargh i didn't noticed until you mention it ,that stupid Flickr logo =( ,yeah i was organizing the shots and apparently it changed the url ,i think i fixed it now
 
Was actually playing the new Planetside 2 continent last night so I didn't get too many shots during the best times of day. Sadly, you need to be in the right spot for that because the best lighting on this map doesn't last too long. Seems interesting.

Also, since I captured these at 5500x2320, I figured I'd downsample to 1080p

This thread always pisses me off. No matter how high of a resolution I downsample from and how much AA I use I simply cannot achieve results that look as clean as many of these shots. It's driving me mad.

I've run with settings so high that I'm getting like 10-15 fps in some games and it STILL doesn't look as clean. >:(

Post some anyways. Say what resolution you've used. What you've used to capture then. And how you downsampled. There's plenty of people here to give feedback and tips.

Just ignore Stein's shots. I'm convinced he has a wizard somewhere that magically makes his image quality crisp and perfect. Even with higher resolutions in the same game, his shots seem to come out better than mine.

What resolution did you try to downsample? I found that after resizing the screenshot in Photoshop to 1080p, it looks better although depending on the type of aliasing such as from shader-based, it can still look jaggy.
 
Please give a detailed description of how to get NV looking exactly like that or you're inhumanly cruel.

I'm determined to release a ENB config sometimes soon (because it doesn't crash anymore on my face). Rest is just mainly Flora overhaul & classic NMC texture pack.

The problem is that the shots that I DO take and downsample end up looking better than what I actually see while playing. It's like the nVidia scaling operation is introducing artifacts into the image or something.

I'd simply like to find a way to see that type of image quality while actually playing instead of in stills.

My PC monitor is 1440p and I've been scaling down from 3840x2160, which runs like absolute shit in most games, unfortunately. If I add SSAA on top of that it's unplayable, but I'm just trying to achieve perfect IQ. If I snap shots of the games they look nice but while playing the results aren't good.

That said, I've found that using 1440p and viewing the image on my 1080p Pioneer plasma actually looks much more attractive while playing (this is typically what I use these days) and is actually playable but still, I'd like to push it further.

It seems like an issue with the way the GTX680 handles scaling, though. Like I said, there are very subtle artifacts in the image when using higher resolutions. Red colors, for instance, loose some of their sharpness. These artifacts don't show up in the screenshots, though, so I can't really point it out. It's very strange. When I had a 580 it did the same thing so it didn't really improve, unfortunately.
 
I felt I was lost with my config a few days ago (Midhras will know what I mean), but now I like the cold, beige look of it. Definitely a keeper!

It looks really fantastic and I've never really played New Vegas so it might be a good time to try.
 
Sorry if this is against the rules, but I'm posting for Spazznid, who isn't unbanned till the 5th. He's been snatching shots and staring at them for the past month.

If you can't yet understand the pain, just think that Cinematic Mod 2013 came out, just as he was banned... (He'll be sharing that, and more upon his ban's removal) hehe.

Anyways, the new continent came out, and he didn't want to miss the opportunity to share some shots a bit early, so he asked me to share them in his stead.
This is fucking hilarious.

Spazznid and I are loving it so far, though.

Also, Imagine Everquest Next forests... Just playing here, I turned my music down, and got off my flash and just listened to the game, and it felt like I was on Degobah, and there'd be a sinking X-Wing nearby.(Please SOE, add a sinking Mossy).

It's great so far. Very atmospheric at times. I imagine some is locked off just because they haven't completely finished it. Or maybe they just want to test the middle and how that all plays out. Who knows.

I did have a lot of bugs though. I was getting spawn points from Esamir showing up. When that happened, I had no where to spawn and had to die\redeploy. So they have a few kinks to work out.

It depends on what tools you use, some AA may slightly blur the image and you have to count the use of sweetFX sharpening in many games , what program you used to downsample the image. Most of the times i have 0-15 FPS (560Ti) when running at those resolutions and it's hard to capture intense scenes with this IQ (that's why i dont't have screenshots of Crysis 3/Modded Skyrim etc). Also i am very picky on what to upload ,not all of them are good :P .Syndicate was a pain in the @ss to screenshot at 6400x2700 while having to actually go through the levels

Naaah , i don't have any magical program/wizard , the only tool i use for downsampling is the FastStone Image Viewer in the last games ,previously i was using Image Magick with some custom scripts for downsampling. And those Crysis shots are taken in 15360/6480 tiledshot with a sharpening value of 2 ingame.

The lighting in those PS2 in amazing ,is this a new map?

It's a new continent deployed only on the test server for now ;) I've been pretty excited about it. Havent played much due to being a bit bored with the other 3. I've also been dying for some forests and actual water.

curious as to your sweetfx settings. those tones are great. i dont recall the lighting ever looking like that.
 
I've never played Fallout: New Vegas before (100+ hours in 3, though), but when I can get it looking like Wanny's screenshots I will for sure.

I've always liked PS2's lighting. I think it's one of the game's strongest assets. One of the weakest, of course, is the overall lack of detail in the environments. They've stepped it up a notch here. The continent is lush. There are tree house bases! A biodome completely consumed with vines and foliage to the point where you stumble upon it rather than seeing it a mile a way.

Anywho, a few more screens. For real 1080p this time (I screwed up my last batch).
