Enabling 4:4:4 subsampling means that it's losing as little data from the original bitmap as possible.

I'm really liking XnView for tasks like this.

What does the program do? What's special about it and why should someone use it to convert BMP's to PNG's or JPG's instead of just doing lossless conversions in photoshop?

Just a heads up, if you go into the config for the game you can turn off that grain filter. It helps a lot.

That is a great shot. The game looks way better than i expected it could.I love the dense detail on the enemy

I would say it's pretty well optimized. It's just the lack of AA which forces you to take radical measures with SGSSAA, or downsampling, which leads to worse performance, but mid-range rig should ace through it no problem.

Would a kind soul such as yourself care to tell me how to get SGSSAA through inspector in Spec Ops? I tried fiddling with it for a fair while to no avail.

I don't have a better analysis of it than to say it looks very flat/basic/lacking in depth and/or subtlety. Maybe someone else might be able to say more.

AC looks so underwhelming, flat and bland. Lighting isn't very good and everything is so bleak. Adding SweetFX helps a bit but that just makes Connor look like an african-american instead.

No problem I've managed to get a number of big releases on release for roughly 30% off. They nearly always have a discount voucher advertised on their front page. Really useful for day one purchases of Steam games.

AC3, especially with TXAA is probably one of the first games I've seen that approaches a cinematic experience. It's not incredibly detailed or rich like many recent games, but the choices with what they do have is much more mature than many of those games. I'd suggest that it is up there with Half Life 2, Mirror's Edge, and GTA IV in terms of tightly controlling art design. As for the lighting, I think it's usually quite fantastic. LIke Brelappin said, in motion it really shines.

Huh? It does the same conversions (well, more advanced options in some cases) as Photoshop and not eveyone has Photoshop.
