I actually prefer non-downsampled shots. You can't get away with the fact that downsampled screenshots are "enhanced" and the result of downsampling with e.g. Photoshop is not nearly the same thing as "live" downsampling on the GPU/monitor.

Seriously, Downsampling is something to embrace. Also, what I see looks more like post-photoshop than what ctw0e posted when I play.

Screen capture with FRAPS saves as .BMP. Open with MS Paint and resize. Save as .PNG. No photoshop and the results stay true to the in-game shot. No enhancements. The games just really do look that good.

pc darksiders1 has cranked up brightness by default. i advise setting it lower and using the smaa preset someone made for Spacemarine..should be easy to find floating around.

Yeah, I'll wait till final release and single player shots to judge for certain, but the look just isn't impressing me atm.

I agree, I don't really like the look, the filters/chromatic aberration, etc. That winter scene with the snowman and tree is awesome though.

Turn them off.
R_chromaticaberration 0
R_colorgrading 0
etc.

These can be added to the autoexec.cfg so you don't have to enter them again.
There are plenty more as well.
