2013 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Let the JPEG Die Already

Just an FYI, people were getting banned from Planetside 2 for using SweetFX. They specifically put a warning on their website not to use any injectors or third-party graphics mods because they might trigger a ban.

See here - http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/important-client-modifications.54265/

Yup. I saw that. I also saw their Twitter post which linked directly to an album of mine which they new specifically used SweetFX.

I've read that thread you posted, but I've never actually heard of anyone being banned for it. I've been using SweetFX in Planetside 2 for ages... and I still do. If they ban me, they ban me. But honestly, I'm not worried. I've been spending a lot more time in War Thunder anyways :)

My card craps out -_-

smaa and lumasharpen, just too advantageous

It's "banned" because it's an injector that uses the same hooks as other hacking tools and so can be used as an excuse to get out of punishment if detected. They're not really against the use of it.

I hate how Fraps has a lag when you click to take a shot. I also hate how you can't hold the button to take multiple successive shots and how you can't take two shots within a few seconds of each other...

Oh wait no that's not the PC version it's a screenshot from the Xbox version.

I was just doing some messing around and liked the little low res shift I did. I completely forgot this wasn't just "screenshot thread" and that it was supposed to be all PC.
My bad.
Oh okay, you had me confused for a moment lol

Rule 99 - Nobody likes Cinematic Mod.

Rule 100 - I'll post it anyways.
For the record, I really like your shots lol

I feel like my War Thunder shots lose a lot of their crispness going from in-game to screenshot. Maybe I should start using bicubic sharp...

It's kinda annoying but here is how I do it.

Just an experiment I felt like trying. It's not very high quality DoF but it does make for some interesting screenshots if used well :) Sadly, if you enable Bokeh depth of field, it doesn't appear when you use the weapon zoom. A shame... screenshots would be much better with bokeh :)

Thank you for the thorough answer. One final question; how did you disable the HUD in this gun view screen? Hud_hide 1 still doesn't disable my gun-view HUD.

If I'm reading his post correctly, you adjust the Field of View to a low enough number that the gun is no longer in frame of the shot.

Even on my 2 year old F3 Spinpoint 1TB HDD I never get pauses or any significant frame drops. I am contemplating adding another 1-2TB HDD for more games/data. Down to 194GB on SSD and 500GB on HDD.

Get a faster HDD. Not a problem here.

Refer to answer 1.

If you've got an SSD, have it save shots there then transfer them over to a drive with more space.

It doesn't pause. I'm saying, when I screenshot, it won't let me screenshot again for a set amount of time.

You can't disable that to my knowledge. The stuff that appears when you open the weapon customization menu is always there.

You probably took the shot before the hud showed up, though, right?

Also, What I'm describing to you guys is not "Click - screenshot - lag -resume"

It's "Click - resume - try to click.... no shot...wait... click - screenshot - resume"

Like it's only letting me screenshot once per 2 seconds. When I take the first shot, I keep clicking and it won't take another shot for about 1-2 seconds. It has nothing to do with lag.

I get that, and the reason for that I believe is that it is still writing the last screenshot. They can't get saved instantaneously, they need to be written to the drive. So as long as it's writing, it can't take another one.

If you have a faster device to write to, theres a much smaller delay in how long you can take between screenshots.

maybe, but I find that hard to believe given that I have no problem recording video at the same resolution, while also taking screenshots, both lossless... If it can do that, then it should be able to take consecutive screenshots.

I guess all that I can give as support is that I can take screenshots rapidly in Fraps and I use an SSD for saving images to.

Do you have the paid version of FRAPS and if so are you saving as PNG? That may cause a delay due to the encoding time. Try switching it to save-as-BMP instead.

Also, that first War Thunder shot with the snow and trees is amazing.

Changing to BMP did the trick. Thank you very much.

Stepping on the War Thunder train...

Took me a while to get into the game, but once I got the Hurricane I instantly fell in love. I'm hooked now. The screenshots don't really do it justice, it looks amazing in motion.

Random question; Is there a way to take pics/record with a program that is compatible with SMAA? Fraps and such doesn't work and I need an alternative.

Thanks! :)

The screenshot function in SweetFX works and it's very fast too.
It's activated by the printscreen button. If the game has it's own screenshot function bound to that button or if the windows screenshot function (also on printscreen but it doesn't always work in games that use fullscreen mode) slow you down, then you can bind the SweetFX screenshot function to another button.

I saw a Guild Wars 2 player put it to clever use by making a autohotkey script to take a screenshot at X minutes intervals, and made a photochronicle of his journeys that way.

I don't know if there's a War Thunder thread but has there been any talk of making a War Thunder SP game? I was under the impression Gaijin was going to port Birds of Steel to PC but I guess that never happened. I just really don't like the WoT style of War Thunder.
