My thoughts when reading Durante's last message...

I have a built which has that (and also pausing while still moving the camera).

WHAT?? That sounds incredible. I must have that!

However, the problem is that objects get clipped if they are outside the original camera of the game. I've tried for a long time but wasn't able to fix that.

NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU WHY DID YOU TEASE ME WITH THAT

The fact that the game doesn't support 2.37:1 is also pretty annoying. Ah well. I've already given up on it in frustration.

Tried downsampling from 5000x2812 but there was still noticeable aliasing. At 4k injecting some FXAA using SweetFX removed it.

Is it possilbe for you to share this anyway? Or do you not mean a .dll intercept, but an actual build of the game?

Turns out I did have SMAA on in SweetFX. With just that + 5500x2320:

I think it comes out looking pretty good. I prefer SMAA over FXAA just because it doesn't add any blur.

I think he means an actual build of the game. However he got that... *shrug* Not right to tease people about such things ;)

normally I'd say the same thing about FXAA, but I did a number of tests and I couldn't see any more blur happening in the FXAA compared to SMAA...and FXAA actually seemed to give me straighter lines.

iRacing looks excellent! I've been hesitating on getting in to it for a little while, because I do like me some graphics, but those are great.

And mp4-12c ftw. It's a new addition, yes?

Yea it really looks good downsampled from 1440p. It gives it that extra contrast and IQ that really makes the game look a lot better than it does at 1080p.

Yep it's one of the newer cars. I highly recommend the game though. I just finished my first week in it and it's been so much fun. It's nerve-racking at first to drive closely in traffic and the rookie league can have some erratic driving but overall it's been great. I would try to register for the Cadillac promo that gives you 3 free months.

Ah definitely! Thanks

Some nice textures. Pretty decent combat. Still hate the camera and the way it controls.

Are you using a gamepad? I played it on the 360 and it has the best melee combat of any game I've ever played and controlled great. I've heard it controls terrible with the mouse tho and that you really have to use a gamepad. It's an amazing game so you should really stick with it. Plus your shots already look so good I want you to screenshot the whole game! Let me know if you have any questions about the gameplay. It's good to explore the game on your own tho as a sense of dread and exploration is one of it's biggest strengths.

Since you spend a time around the Cheat Engine forums you probably already know this, but in case you don't there is a cheat engine script that allows you to edit the camera distance.

The only CE table I've seen that modifies the camera is the really crappy "free roam camera" mod that allows you move it with the arrow keys, but as soon as you move it, it starts snapping to a certain point automatically. You have to be a wizard contortionist to get any decent screenshots because if you let go of the joystick for a second, it snaps back. And what it snaps to NEVER makes sense and always seems to want to look away from your character.

Bloody useless.

Maybe I'm using the wrong table?

I'm using a gamepad, yeah. I'm not used to using a gamepad. I'd much prefer proper mouse control, as that's what I'm used to even in 3rd person games. But what can you do.

Problem with screenshotting the game is that I grow frustrated only being able to take screenshots from 3rd person perspective, and I haven't found a competent camera mod yet. I know my way around Visceral's Engine so I can mod the camera in Dead space 1/2/3 all I want... but this game.... I got nuffin.

The free roam camera options are all garbage. Here is the table I was talking about.

It has an option for Camera Distance which lets you pull the camera way far out, super close in, or anywhere in between.

It's not a huge thing, but it's always nice to know all of the options available to you when screenshotting.

Edit: Also, if you'd prefer mouse and keyboard, there is a mod that supposedly fixes mouse support in the game but I don't have any personal experience with it.

You could try using mouse/kb and DSMfix.

The problem is that it's in my current development build of DSfix, which is totally broken in many ways due to my trying to hack in Rift support.

Anyway, screenshots!

Sweet! Using the camera distance address, I can find a few other pointers in what I think is the camera structure.

Already found the "camera height." Moving it straight up works fine with no snapping. Woo.

Oh god... this could keep me busy.

Oh man, provided that this ends up being fruitful for you, I'm sure we'd all appreciate you sharing whatever you figure out.

Dark Souls is one of my favorite games of all time so having more options for screenshotting it would be a huge positive.

Awesome shots. That game looks slick as hell. Is it any fun or does it just show well?

Mixed bag so far. The levels that take place in Jets are still pretty fun (though I'm not fond of this new dogfight mode malarky) but there is all kinds of shitty on rail turret nonsense in there that sucks.

There is the binoculars in the game. I found a pair over in the graveyard in Firelink Shrine. You'll have to deal with the "DOF" and a narrow fov, but it still makes for some nice shots.

Please oh please one of you get a full free camera working. It is indeed frustrating to center all the shots around your character when so much of the world and its inhabitants are begging to be showcased. You'll have to find a players only though too, or you'll just die during the best opportunities! Haha.

I'm fairly certain that at one point I used a Cheat Engine table that enabled you to not be noticed by enemies. I think it's out there if someone takes the time to look. I'll check my downloaded files to see if they're still here somewhere.

Edit: Looking through some old Cheat Engine tables, there is definitely at least one that allows you to lock enemies into their positions so they can't move and attack you.

Eggsellent.

I've been delaying my foray into Cheat Engine for far too long.

One of them actually also has a "Monster Vaccum" that just sucks all the nearby enemies to your area.

So you can get ridiculous stuff like this happening

(Forgive the jaggies, I was just checking out the tables.)

I did have trouble, but not like that. Are you using a square ratio?

My native resolution is 1920x1080, I have tried both 2560×1440 and 3840x2160, they both pass the Test and they work in Assassin's Creed 3 and Crysis 2 without a problem. When I change to those resolutions in Grid 2 I get black bars on both sides. I have tried turning off every other graphical setting in the game but still I get the black bars.

edit: interestingly if I am in windowed mode and maximise the window by double-clicking the top pane and change the resolution it works as fullscreen, but I would still need to use one of those programs that hide the borders.
