2014 NBA Off-season |OT| Our cap is tellin me NO! But my fandom is tellin me YEAH!

I suspect Bosh and Wade will opt out to allow Miami to go after some other free agents. They must make enough money from endorsements to cover the reduced salaries?
That or just a longer deal so they make just as much (or close to it) in the long run, just somewhat less annually.

Dan Lebatard has been saying on his show since the finals ended that all three of them could opt out, but if they did they expect Miami's front office to spend. Like repeater tax territory spending. They ain't gonna opt out to save Arison money. Supposedly Bron is already a little ticked by the tight spending last year.

Thomas is about to get paid, I'd rather just gamble on Mclemore and the pick.

Embiid+Saric pls

Sure

Where our league is going now, no one is a true PG anymore. You are either really good with the ball, as a shooter — Curry, Lillard, or Kyrie — or no one can stay in front of you — Westbrook, Wall, and Rose. There aren’t any Chris Pauls anymore.

Yeah, ESPN was ragging on Jabari Parker this morning. Or at least were quoting the Cavs. Gained weight and is now over 255 pounds, didn't shoot well, "huffing and puffing". Said Gilbert will try to control the pick and get Wiggins.

It's no secret Jabari wants to go to the Bucks (amazing as that sounds). One hour from Chicago and it was pretty much all but assured until Embiid broke his foot. Wouldn't be surprised if his heart just wasn't in that Cavs workout. I doubt he intentionally tanked it, but I'm sure he didn't give his best effort.

Tanking it would be crazy. Gilbert kinda sucks, but Milwaukee is truly the bottom of the NBA barrel.

I think Wiggins will be #1 just through process of elimination. Embiid's back/foot, Parker's fitness, no need at point guard in Cleveland with Exum, Randle being undersized, etc.

ESPN reports that you can add the Clippers to the list of teams that plan to make a run at LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony in free agency, despite a lack of cap space, but that Blake Griffin is "untouchable" in any circumstances.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on...lebron-james-but-blake-griffin-is-untouchable

lol if giving up Griffin means you get 3-4 years of LeBron, you do that all day, every damn day. smh at teams overvaluing their own guys.

Paul/Redick/Barnes/James/Jordan would be pretty beastly.

Agreed wtf. Griffin man...not to sound like a hater, but I really dislike his game. He is somehow effective at times, but his shitty uncoordinated flailing in the post is awful. As is his total lack of footwork. Would trade him in a heartbeat.

I really don't understand why the Cavs would take Parker. Offense wasn't really a problem for them. Jabari's best attribute is putting the ball in the basket, yet you've got a ball dominant PG in Irving, a gunner in Waiters, and a guy in Bennett who by all accounts the Cavs haven't given up on and is more of a 3 than a 4 in the league. The team was garbage defensively even with Deng and replacing Deng with Parker is only going to make that D worse. On the flip side, you've got a guy in Wiggins who is athletic, has length, is already a good, if not elite defender, and doesn't need the ball in his hands to make an impact on the court.

Honestly, it's a fucking no brainer. They should take Wiggins.

Yup.
If the Clippers think of him as untouchable, then they really are a mess.

Cavs franchise such a joke, still haven't decided between Parker and Wiggins with draft tomorrow. Just pick the Canadian number 1 again, Cavs.

I think the Jabari stuff is all smoke to see if they can get someone blow them away with a trade (they know Milwaukee at 2 wants Parker bad). Parker is all offense, not a good fit for that team. Wiggins' floor is probably an elite defender and supreme athlete he makes a lot more sense with Kyrie, Waiters and if Bennett ever amounts to anything.

Then again, it's Dan Gilbert.

@WojYahooNBA: Cleveland pushed on deal centered on No. 1 pick for Kevin Love, but his refusal to re-sign w/ Cavs has killed talks, sources tell Yahoo.

I wonder if Cavs are really going to make a run at Lebron

I wonder if Cavs are really going to make a run at Lebron

Of course he's not gonna commit to resigning. What if he does and then the Cavs don't get LeBron and/or Irving leaves? Then he's stuck in another wasteland. To get talent of LeBron and Love's caliber, the Cavs have to be risky and take a leap of faith without assurances it'll all work out. I think LeBron would be amenable to teaming up with Irving and Love in his home state, especially if Miami can't make moves. But you're not going to get that assurance before you actually make the moves. Such is life.

Yahoo Sources: Cleveland's made new associate head coach Tyronn Lue highest paid assistant in NBA history. http://yhoo.it/1qawYN5

Any time you can make THE TYRONN LUE the highest paid assistant in all professional sports history, you've got to do it.

Never change Cleveland.

Can we please kickstart a "The Office" offshoot for Cleveland's front office?
That's quality entertainment!

Meanwhile Iverson is busy trying to get his 2001 wardrobe out of storage getting kicked out of casinos, waiting desperately for that Reebok trust fund to kick in. Tyronne won!

Rondo, DMC and Josh smith on the same team. What could possibly go wrong?

God I hope the celts plan to move Rondo still. That's one of the things I've hated about the Love trade, it's predicated on building around him and Rondo, and I just don't think Rondo is all that great.

I don't get how there can be a conflict between owner and front office. Take the guy I want or you're all fired..not really complicated.

Broussard says the Rockets could do a sign and trade w/Knicks.
Harden for Melo.

Poor Harden.

Eh, dude is making $80m and would prob put the Knicks in the playoffs in the East.

I retract my statement.

edit:

ESPN has learned that Dallas Mavericks are on verge of reacquiring Tyson Chandler in trade with New York Knicks. Story going online now

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 32s
Sources tell ESPN that Mavericks are in advanced talks on deal to complete trade that will bring Chandler and Raymond Felton to Dallas

Oh my god the Zen Master found someone dumb enough to take back Felton's contract

Wow they paid a lot to get back Chandler. A lot.

I'm honestly not even sure hes much of an upgrade over Dalembert. Trading Calderon and taking back Felton? And writing off Larkin after a 1 year? Seems steep.

Phil Jackson already doing work.

i'm not a fan of felton, so i don't like the move for the mavs. while jose/monta wasn't the best backcourt, you still had jose's shooting while monta played a two-man game with dirk in crunch time and his iq and one of the best assist-turnover ratios in the game.

i think i'll probably miss caldron's shooting the most. though maybe he didn't like being relegated to a spot-up shooter.

So Knicks get Dalembert (expiring), Larkin (1st rounder in last year's draft, good prospect), Calderon (longer contract, but better than Felton), and #34 in this year's draft...

...and functionally are under the cap right now without Tyson/Ray/Melo off the books, while still being able to offer super-max cash to Melo if necessary (or less than that, and the ability to actually add non-crap FAs this year)? And still have a first next year? And still have max room in 2015 automatically when Amare/Bargs are gone?

I almost have no problems with this move.
