Yeah did not think about it till now but wasn't the Russian President the good guy in Season 5? And wasn't Logan trying to have him killed?

Seeing the topic reaching 6 pages so quickly after the last week preview's impression hyped me to the max :D

Itzin's faces, the music (especially at the beginning of the motorcade scene), the aftermath scene and obviously the army of one scene, most incredible episode ever. I actually started laughing during the Logan's interrogation scene due to the craziness of all of this. Such a pity the show is on the way out after the slow start and the season's redemption :(

That was one FUCKING AWESOME episode.

Too bad most of this season hasn't been that good. It started off really slow then the action has gone frantic within the last few episodes. It seems like they're cramming it all in these last 2 hours.

Well it is the series finale, I would expect a big finale.

Despite the amazing action sequences, is anyone else a bit put off that they're tossing out Jack's role as a character all about justice? Him being totally consumed by revenge just seems a bit off. Yeah he shot Nina in season 3, but he never gave a second thought to who was pulling her strings. Coverups? He kept his mouth shut about Logan's role in Palmer's assassination when that was all brushed under the rug. Just is kind of rubbing me the wrong way.

Yep and I hope someone is gonna tell Suvarov. There are three candidates that I see: Jack, Chloe and Aaron.

I think he's just snapped. I'm sure in the finale he will realise he's become a monster and surrender, but I think after the shit Jack has put up with over the years, it was coming. One 'bad day' can make anyone go mad, and Jack's had 8 of them. I'm really curious to see how they wrap it all up. Will they have him realise what he's become and surrender? Or will he go loopy like Tony and go out unrepentant?

Well, when you really really look back all the way to season 4, it was Logan who said to kill Jack, and Tony & friends had to fake his death so he can escape. Living someone else's life is already bad enough. Then in season 5, those friends get killed, President Palmer gets killed, and Logan was also responsible for that. Now he's back this season and pulling all kinds of strings again. Logan has made Jack's life so miserable, probably far worse than what Nina or the others have done to him in seasons 1-3.

So it all makes sense. It's like a giant story arc since season 4 and finally Logan will pay the price. WITH BLOOD (hopefully).

I'm wondering how they forgot that the Russians didn't want to talk to Logan in S6, but they said this season that Logan and the Russians were still buddy buddy. I thought I'd never see Logan again after Martha snapped. Seemed like she was his only reason to live.

Logan is far too egotistical to care that much about anyone.

Didn't his vitals crash after he said Martha then the episode ended

Seems like another area where the writers decided "fuck it, lets do whatever." The Russian president seemed like a decent guy in S5, and in S6 he didn't want anything to do with Logan.

And of course in S6, Logan seemed like he had turned himself around. Guess he couldn't get over the lust for power/love. He reminds me so much of Nixon.

The last line of the finale has been revealed. The words are bleeped, but only one letter was revealed:

**** ** *o**

I'm going to guess and say
Jack is gone.

I disliked Season 6 so much I do not even remember much of what happened.

What was Logan's role again? I just remember him with a beard and Jack's family behind a lot of the stuff going on.

I presume that the reporter left the Video in the telephone's coin return or something.

I wonder if it was kind of a Chekov's gun; there wouldn't really seem to be any point to giving Hassan's daughter the number if she would just call it and nothing would be there.

Still, as much as it's going to be ridiculous, Jack still hasn't killed anyone who wasn't an asshole criminal victim; this might just be so that he's still sympathetic to the audience though.

I agree it kind of sucks to have Jack be this incredible hero for every season only to have him go out the same kind of guy he usually stops. He is basically Tony right now. I always felt that Jack would go out in a blaze of glory, saving the world kind of stuff. Or him finally be commended for being the greatest hero of all time. I guess the movie will be the true ending.

This is so sad, every late night talk show has LOST guests everywhere. The only show that I see that will have any 24 guests is Jay Leno, he has a 24 show on Friday.

hasn't he killed secret service?... hes killed both secret service and a whole group of russian delegates/service men, and in reality, if anything like this had happened, not all of those people would have been bad people (just following orders)

Chloe said it herself, Jack shot the secret service guys just to wound them. In the episode you can clearly see one of the dudes was just shot in the foot, much like the police officers in the previous episode.

That just blows all believability out the window. Even Jack couldn't get non letahl shots in all those people. Its hard enough when you have just one target.

But fuck it. Jack's shooting people and actually doing something exciting for a change.

Some possibilities:
- we're in love
- jack is tony
- dead as dodo
- SMG2 is good
- take me home
- lets go home
- burn my home
- rape my bone

.... and then after you wait around during the credits you see the words TIME PARADOX appear. :lol

I can't wait for the finale. I don't think I've ever been this excited about a television show EVER to see how it ends. I hope they "save" Jack's character in the finale. He's always been about justice and honor it seem like... now he's just Tony, out for pure revenge. I hope in the end he comes around and he exposes everything and is somehow made out to be the "good guy" again. I don't want Jack Bauer to be remembered as a crazy person who went out for revenge.

EDIT: I just watched next week's preview
So I think Jack is going to assassinate the Russian president, after that Chole will catch him. She'll confront Jack and make him realize that he's gone off the deep end and getting revenge on everyone won't bring back Rene, blah blah blah. She'll shoot and wound him and they'll take him to a hospital where he'll face pending criminal charges etc.
The Hassan's will confront President Taylor and pull out of the peace talks. Logan will get brought down too and everything will end poorly for all them, maybe on the brink of war. I guess that'll setup the movie...

One thing that I really wish they would've brought up in this season was Jack's FoxDie condition that he received at the end of last season that miraculously cured by his daughter. Seriously that whole thing just WENT AWAY and I wish they would've played more to that this season. Jack is slowly dying and he has to complete one last mission. I dunno maybe I just want my 24 to mirror Metal Gear Solid too much... :lol

You are correct, sir. I think Jack has just lost his shit. Every person that ever meant anything to him gets damaged in some way - extreme or not.

EDIT:
Along comes Renee Walker, who becomes a kindred spirit when Jack turns her to the Dark Side of interrogation and justice. That didn't work out too well in the long run, did it? In a way, Jack 'created' her and this ultimately led to her death.

So, yes, I think Jack has snapped. It's payback time from a man who can't be killed because he's already dead.

What a great episode...oh so sad to see this show go. I remember being the only kid in school talking about jack bauer like way back in my freshman year of high school. Now I'm a junior in college and it's a very sad moment knowing it's all done :(

It's really refreshing that there's no real big boss or second terrorist threat this season. I wish they would have tried this before.

It is kind of depressing that it's going away. I've been watching since back in season 1 in 2001. I remember the awesome GAF threads for Season 4 and Season 5.

Jack dressed up at the Master Chief was an incredible scene. Gregory Itzin was also phenomenal in this episode. I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls down an Emmy nom for that. The scene with him crying and begging for his life from Bauer seemed real.
