24: Live Another Day. Hype thread.

I hope that this series being set in London means that they finally use the 24 hour clock on the show.

I still don't understand why it's not widely used in America. Here in the UK, we use the 24 hour clock (12:00, 13:00, 14:00 etc) for everything. It's so much better.

Going by the image of cover page of the script, AM and PM are still in. Of course that could change.

Has there been any confirmation of Tony yet? I saw the rumors on the first page of this thread.

Nope, as far as I know there's been nothing outside of the tweets indicating that they had lunch. They better work him in somehow, unless they plan on giving him a worse sendoff than they did the last two times.

Nope, but
why else would he have met up with Howard Gordon, David Fury, Sean Callery, Manny Coto and Patrick Somerville?

Makes no sense for pretty much the entire 24 creative team, minus Cassar, to be meeting Carlos Bernard just before setting up pre-production and finished scripting on a new season of 24 if they didn't want to entice him into it. Remember, he would have to be convinced to move to London for a good few months.

Either way, he's likely in it.

A lot of things died in S5 that shouldn't have.

nah, just Michelle.

Palmer's death made sense in the grand scheme of things. Without it, Season 5's plot would not have existed (Jack wouldn't have got back into the game). His death had weight, meaning and considering his story up to that point was totally played out, it was the right time. It was totally right. His body's send off with the rifles whilst his musical theme was played full forte at the same time Logan was being escorted into custody was one of the greatest moments ever in the series and a true fulfillment of everything that Palmer stood for.

Michelle's death only really served as a plot point to get Tony annoyed and then killed. Which, considering Tony didn't die, meant her death was essentially a "lol, cya" death more than anything else. It meant nothing - Jack didn't even seem to give a shit. Sure, they tried to add similar weight as Palmer's death to hers with the events of Season 7 but that made no fucking sense in the end and felt hollow.

As for the others who died in S5 - Edgar was a pain in the ass. Thank fuck he died, and thank god it was painful. Henderson? Well, he needed to. Anyone else? Nope. Aaron survived, thankfully.

yep, it was just Michelle.

Just as long as they do something with Tony and Pierce I'm happy. They don't need to do anything super crazy with Tony because he got an entire season in season 7 to himself, but at least give him a proper sendoff.

Pierce, I'm still sour they ignored him in season 8. What a mistake. Hell, just off the top of my head they could have had him go with Taylor to CTU to meet Jack after Renee got offed. Use the excuse of Taylor asking for Aaron specifically to protect her, knowing Jack has known him for a long time, then just a one or two episode appearance and you've got his quota for the year.

Mannnnnnnnn...

As long as Glenn Morshower is cool with working in London for a few months, you can bet your ass that Pierce will be in. What is he doing at present? Has he got anything lined up?

On a similar topic, scenes were filmed yesterday of Audrey Raines and James Heller in London. lots of extras.

Well, did they ever give a good reason why Aaron wasn't in season 8? I think I remember at the time they said something about not being able to write him in but that's bull.

I watched the end of season 6 the other night and it made me super excited for Audrey and Heller in the new season. Should be reaaaaaaaaaaaally interesting.

Seriously. I don't get why so many people are like 'ohh poor Edgar :(' when he wasn't likeable in the least.

An analyst (Carrie?) warns him that there's a security breach in the ventilation system and he completely ignores it, then she gets killed because Edgar told her to check it out herself. And when the nerve gas is released and Chloe tells him to get out of the building, he just takes his sweet time staring at Carrie's dead body instead... with the gas canister right in front of him. And we're supposed to feel sorry for him? Fuck that guy. I never felt that the silent clock had anything to do with Edgar, for me it was more like 'CTU is really fucked'.

oh my god

Kiefer just confirmed a fact I never knew in this interview - believe it or not, Kiefer has never, ever seen an episode of 24 before.

He doesn't like watching himself, and has avoided watching a single episode.

I get it, many can't surpass the shame/awkward feeling of watching themselves

Yeah, but considering he practically lives and breathes Jack Bauer whilst filming and knows the character inside and out, I would never have guessed it.

and holy fuck, his voice in this clip of him in the upcoming film Pompeii - I was NOT expecting that. hahahaha oh my god

I imagine as a professional who takes pride in his craft he wouldn't be able to enjoy it. He'd be taking too much time and energy, dissecting his performance and picking at the little things he could have done better instead of just watching a show for entertainment.

I don't disagree, but I loved David Palmer, and he only served one term so they could have always brought him back as President. If Wayne got himself elected DP definitely could have reclaimed the White House after Keeler & Logan. And how the fuck didn't he get a silent count?

As far as Edgar, all new CTU communication agents pretty much all sucked after S5. He and Chloe had an interesting dynamic and S6 could've had him finally losing his virginity to a mole trying to get info.

I'll always remember Edgar first and foremost as Skip, Big Pussy's shitty FBI handler.

I never watched the last 2 seasons of 24. I think I stopped during the season with Jack's family playing a prominent role. I'm kind of in the mood to watch a bit, what should I skip?

Season 7 is fantastic. Watch it.

Season 8 has a poor first half, but then the greatest second half of any season of 24 ever.

If you haven't finished Season 6 you should watch at least episode 17, it's awesome and it works pretty well as a standalone episode. Episode 24 is worth watching as well because of the final scene.

As for the last 2 seasons, Season 7 is pretty good overall, and Season 8 has a weak first half but the second half is amazing, easily the best stretch of episodes in the series. I'd suggest you skip the beginning and start watching from episode 14.

I really like the first half of season 8. It has its low points [mostly the filler plot and the cringeworthy stuff at CTU] but there are a lot of cool "Fuck yeah Jack Bauer!" moments. Also president Hassan is awesome.

But first half of season 7 is godlike.

So I should skip watching the rest of season 6?

Season 6 is weak but I would watch episode 17 at least. It's one of the few bright spots.

(Spoilers of what happens):
- They trick the main bad guy Fayed into thinking he escaped (the terrorists that "break him out" really work for CTU)
- The bad guy steals a truck and Jack was hanging on underneath for like 10 mins as the dude drives to his hideout
- Jack snaps a dudes neck, shoots up a warehouse of like 15 bad guys
- Runs out of bullets, says fuck it, and still runs toward the main villain of the season
- Gets into a fist fight, chokes the guy out with a metal chain and hangs him
- One of the CTU agents arrives a few minutes later, looks at the huge number of bodies and goes "Damn Jack!"

Guys, guys: in the absence of any time constraints the obvious answer is that you have to watch every. single. episode. That way they can judge for themselves which ones aren't up to par.

Plus, every stupid-ass ex-SO/troublesome family member subplot that you suffer through makes those fuck-awesome moments like Jack using parkour to break a fools neck all the sweeter.

Solid Snake wishes he could be Jack Bauer. In fact, Kojima may as well cross that bridge at this point and make the next 24 game. He's always been talking about how he wants to do other stuff besides MGS, and that's right in his wheelhouse.
