Lyrics to the Rural Juror song:
The Irma Luhrman-Merman murder
Turned the bird's word lurid
The whir and the purr of a twirler girl
She would the world were demurer
The insurer's allure
For valor were pure Kari Wuhrer
One fervid whirl over her turgid error
Rural juror
Rural juror
I will never forget you
Rural juror
I'll always be glad I met you
Rural juror

I will never forget you
Rural juror
I'll always be glad I met you
Rural juror (x2)

Just watched it, I thought it was fantastic. I think Jenna's song being like the end of a special SNL was a missed opportunity, but overall, very happy.

30 Rock was my favorite sitcom currently broadcast, and I'll miss it, they did some amazing stuff, and I will love Tina Fey forever.

But not 30 Rock. Despite ticking all the boxes for early cancellation — too smart, too funny, too New York (at least it wasn't burdened with Justin Bartha) — 30 Rock is the rare cult show that survived. No — it thrived. For seven seasons it churned out brilliant jokes with the efficacy and precision of a finely calibrated fart machine. It invented holidays and catchphrases. It tangled bravely with race and ludicrously with celebrity. Snakes were tamed and sharks were loosed. Ghostface Killah rapped about muffins. Muppets sang at a funeral. At its worst it was good. At its best it was transcendent. It's not enough to say that 30 Rock didn't die. Its whole life was thunder.

I think I just shed a tear.

Were Conan and Liz in front of a blue screen in that elevator scene?

Haha, that part was so, so bad. Worst/most obvious usage of green screen ever.

Perfect finale, so many nice callbacks for long time fans. I love that Katrina Bowden/Cerie was there in LA as one of the women greeting Jenna after she got off the plane. I just looked her up and she started on the show at 17 or 18 apparently. No wonder she still looks so absurdly hot after all these years.

Regarding Kenneth:
In the episode "Governor Dunston", Kenneth's mother, Pearlene, recalls what Kenneth said to her on the day he was born: "Momma, I am not a person. My body is just a flesh vessel, for an immortal being whose name, if you heard it, would make you lose your mind".

So he's Cthulu.

I think it's because Conan's based out in LA. Probably couldn't drag him out to Queens to shoot.

Really enjoyed the ending. Loved Jack's short boat ride. I didn't really care too much for the prior season, but this one was great. They went out on a high note.

Have loved this show from the start, sad to see it go but so glad it went out on a high. Amazing finale. So long, old friend!

Heh. Ending it the same way so many other TV shows have. Did not see it coming. You know, I don't even know what the original reference is. All I know is I've seen the same ending on Newsradio and I heard is was the finale to St. Elsewhere. Which by the way were two other NBC shows.

They might as well end all their shows with a snowglobe and the whole series being a story or a dream.

Can't believe it's over. Man. What is Thursday night going to be like next year? What's left? Parks and Rec? A small tiny itty bitty possibility of Community but probably not?

Also, lol at Conan. I assumed it was just because he's busy and in another city, or he couldn't actually come to NBC to tape his scene.

Yeah, it's a reference to the St. Elsewhere finale.

well it's slightly different than St. Elsewhere, it's a St. Elsewhere fake-out. Makes anyone who knows that ending think it's going to be a dream for one second, and then reveals that it actually did happen and Liz's great-granddaughter retold Kenneth (immortal) about it.

Kids, did I ever tell you the story of how I used to be a Page for NBC?

St. Elsewhere has one of the most famous endings in television history, it's a cultural reference. (St. Elsewhere spoilers I guess:) The entire series was revealed to be the imagination of an autistic boy who was one of the characters in the show. As ander noted, the reference here is a meta-joke. "Oh they're doing a St. Elsewhere ending of course" but they really weren't. You were supposed to think it was kind of an easy joke at first.

I recently started watching this with my roommate and it really is a great show. The 3 episodes leading up to the finale and the finale were really good even though I have only seen maybe 6 total episodes through out its run.

I will definitely be catching up on the series.

Actually, I was hoping it would be more of a Newhart ending where one of the characters from the show wakes up in bed with another character from a previous show they were on before and says they had the weirdest dream. But I couldn't think of a single character on the show that had a previous show like that. And SNL doesn't count.

But this one was great. Kenneth is great.

Oh, and a correction. Newsradio didn't end with the St. Elsewhere reference. It was the episode Daydream from season 3. My mistake. Not that it matters.

Jack's response to Kenneth's hot assistant was classic. Holy shit the timing had me laughing my ass off.

The green screen with Conan was clearly made to look awful since he probably wouldn't be caught dead in an NBC studio. I kind of thought that was part of the gag.

And fuck I'm going to miss this show like hell. Not since Scrubs have I been this sad about losing a show. :(

30 Rock is the best sitcom of all time.

There I said it. So sad that it's gone but at least it left the stage on its own terms.

Thank you Tina Fey! Amazing fucking show.

I didn't catch it 'til today, but damn. It was a great finale.

Seasons 1 and 2 are at the pinacle of tv comedy for me. I'd stopped watching after season 5, but came back for the last season. Should catch up on 6.

Just watched it, unbelievably good finale.

I had absolutely no idea what the song was about, but it made me laugh harder than anything else in the episode.

Definitely a blue/green screen, and shot separately by the looks of it. I thought it was funny after the comment the prior week in which they lamented how bad stuff looks shot on green screens.

My favorite parts:

- There's one, albeit short, shot of Cere from behind in a skirt where she reaches to grab something. Glorious. Ugh so good. Need a screen cap.

- Lutz. Everything he did in the episode was amazing. Aardvark! Mommy's baby boy is a freakin' genius.

- Loved that the girl pitching the stories about her grandmother was bi-racial.

- The shortest soul searching cruise ever. Brilliant

I've been with the show since day one. I admit I thought the Sorkin show was going to be better, but was pleasantly surprised when around episode of 4 of 30 Rock everything started to click and it left most every other single show in its dust. I hate most finales, because they feel forced, but I loved this. It was still sad, but it was also hilarious. Can't believe it's over.

Loved the "I'm going to cable where you can swear and really take time to let the moment land!" *fast cut to the next scene* line.

Overal one of the best series finales I've seen.

Tracy: You're even dumber than I look.

Liz: Cut the B.S.
Tracy: But I promised Barbara Streisand I'd never stab her again.

Tracy: The night is young, and neither are you.

Liz: You're just an alcoholic with a great voice.

Tracy: Like the snakes I kept in my dressing room drawer, I release you.

Tracy: He doesn't have meetings! He's avoiding me. What am I, my son's piano recital?

Dot Com: Sometimes things change.
Tracy: And yet you still say stupid stuff to me all the time.

LA airport worker to Jenna: Excuse me maam, do you need a wheelchair to baggage claim?

Jenna: I will return to my first love: Broadway! You Eastern European knock-off Mr. Potato Heads.

Tracy: Dammit! Why did I get such a loud pacemaker?

Liz: Wait! Jack!! There's so much to live for! Don't you want to know how Mad Men ends?

Liz: "Chris has gone back to work. He has a degree in ethnomusicology from Wesleyan. So he’s a receptionist at a dentist’s office."

JACK: “HogCock. Which is a combination of hogwash and poppycock.”

KENNETH: “Woman. Writer. New York. Those are on my list of TV no-no words.”

LIZ: “I’ll go to cable, where you can swear, and really take time to let moments land.”

AL ROKER: “There’s a Snowicane coming. According to the National Weather Service you should, and I quote: ‘leave work; get in your purple Bentley; and be home with your sharks before the Tri State area gets slammed by what is being called: Snowicane, White Lady Name, Like Dorva…or something!”

Just watched the finale and loved it. The show never really did well among my friends, I wonder what looking at a random ep of 30 rock would be like if I watched it for the first time. I could get why it's not instantly appealing and that's probably why it never really took off but I still love it. Damn I'm gonna miss this show. Thank you 30 Rock cast for a very special sitcom.

Just rewatched the episode and I'm not sure if I'm just imagining this, but at the end of the tag with immortal Kenneth, are the last three notes of the music an oddly transposed NBC theme?

Yeah.

Just wanted to chime in and say that this really is/was one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, and the finale was near perfect. Sad to see it go but glad to know I'll always have 138 episodes of genius comedy to watch over and over again.

It's sad that The Office will have 200 when it ends but 30 Rock only got 138.
