im conflicted , cant decide on yes or no

With good frame pacing, locked performance and some good motion blur with good image quality it's perfectly fine for single player games sure.

Depends greatly on the game. Generally third person is easier for me to cope with. First person games at 30fps not so much.

Me too. It depends on the kind of game, if it's a cinematic game 30 fps is fine. If however I'm playing Virtua Fighter, I need it at 60 fps.

Given the choice I will always choose 60FPS but NO WAY IN HELL I will skip great game just because it runs at 30FPS….in my opinion that's idiotic.

Anyone who saw that glorious GTA 6 trailer and said... "Man, I wish the game ran at 720i, with half the amount of NPC's, less detail, half the draw distance, and just uglier overall, so it could run at 60fps!" Is a full blown moron

For lots of games I find 30fps fine. If you switch to it from 60, back to back, it looks really bad but takes about an hour to adjust and look normal enough.

I'm playing Infamous on PS3 because I want the platinum. The frame rate is around 30fps and you can easily tell not only in the movement on the screen, but in the latency in the controls. So is that going to stop me from playing? No. Would a 60fps version be night and day compared to what it is? Yes, absolutely

Depends on lots of factors.
Frame pacing, genre of game, how fast the game is meant to be, options for 60fps.
A lot of times, 30fps has piss poor frame pacing and feels soo sluggish and choppy.
Even 60fps with bad frame pacing feels better than 30fps with bad frame pacing.

Depends on the game. I can live with 30fps when playing stuff like Heroes of Might & Magic or Advance Wars. If I play Quake or Doom, I very much like it to be at least 60fps,

I think 30 fps seems fine when playing on a handheld like the Switch, but for a TV experience, especially on an OLED display, I'd like at least 40 fps. I mean, I can stomach 30 fps, but I'd sacrifice some image quality for an improved frame rate.

No, I havent played a 30 fps game on my PS5 and I don't intend to start now, and 60fps on the Portal looks like 30 while 30 looks like 15

I've been using a 144Hz display for like 4-5 years now.. the last 2 years with a 4090, so yeah.. anything below 80-90 is just ass... usually i cap out except for very CPU limited games.

It depends on the type of games.
I couldn't play a fighting game at 30fps but for adventure, rpg, cinematic games I don't mind if it has no frame pacing and a good motion blur.

I like the new 40fps mode in some games though.

On PC I'll play around until I get stable 60fps if I don't get them by default. It's the bare minimum for smooth gameplay imo.

On older consoles, well, it is what it is. I'm not going to miss on cool games just because they get to run like shit at times, so I'll cope with whatever framerate the game has.

I can see the increased smoothness of the higher frame rate. But I not make purchasing decisions on frame rate.

Enough?

Is there an option for less?

Not anymore, no. I don't want to play games at less than 60. I ocassionally get the urge to play through Bloodborne again, and the frame rate just kills the excitement. I'm not interested in trying to mod a console to play it, or dealing with the unofficial PC port. I just wish they'd make a proper remaster.

The Steam Deck running at 45fps is 98% as good as 60 to my eyes/brain, and it extends the battery life by quite a bit. I'm fine with that.

I don't play many games on PS5 these days, but I'm sure I could do the 40fps mode on a 120hz display if the game doesn't have a 60fps performance mode.

Absolutely, no problem. If the frame pacing is good and they use motion blur cleverly, it's great.

Horizon: Zero Dawn for example. In many cases I even prefer it because 60 fps can make the animation look weird, especially in cutscenes.

It's funny how pc handhelds have caused a resurgence of 30fps gaming.

"This handheld is powerful enough to play modern AAA titles at 30fps, amazing!"

Yep. That's pretty much the only times I give allowances for low frame rate. Newer stuff? Nah. I'll wait for whatever to be on PC first
