3DS XL First Impressions/Previews

I can't wait to give my sister my old 3DS. She only wants it for Kingdom Heart and Paper Mario, though. Which I'm nervous about considering everything I've told her about Paper Mario so far she hasn't liked, hahaha.

Nope. (I most likely will IF Nintendo institutes a good account system)

So for cart only, not much music, and a handful of 3dsWare titles, I think I'll just stick with my 2GB and throw it in the new XL. I'll wait until I need that space and get a new card then.

I was just wondering if there was anything I was overlooking.
 
I really wish that Pikachu 3DS XL wasn't revealed yesterday, as I now fear that a better color or a special edition will be here by Black Friday. I'm thinking of waiting again x_x

tbh it wouldn't surprise me if there was a White (color of paper) + Paper Mario bundle, seeing as PM is coming out right before Black Friday. A Red + NSMB2 bundle is probably more likely though

3DS XL comes with a 4GB card already so just upgrade to that
 
I only went with blue since it seemed like so many people were going red. I couldn't decide, and just said what the heck and went that way.

I finally got my August Nintendo Power (guilty pleasure :p) and there is a life-size pic of a 3DS XL

All I can say is holy shit it's HUGE

Although it's about the same size, it feels more natural in my hands than the DSiXL. The wider top screen definitely helps.
 
There's an easy solution to your color woes, if it's bothering you that much.

1. Buy both.
2. Return the one you like less.

I'd say that's crazy but it wouldn't be the most needless purchase for some people here.

Lately I seem to be getting my Nintendo Powers far later than usual. Aren't they supposed to show up before the month they're for? Like August should arrive some time in July?
 
Honestly, after seeing the actual size of the screens and the unit I'm dead set on getting one day 1 and just switching shells is I end up hating blue. No turning back :p

I just wish that I could try a demo unit :/

That's true. It sucks having to return stuff to an online retailer. Hoping my 3ds xl is fault free!

As for the color discussion, I got blue because red is loud. My ds was red so I wanted to try something a bit calmer.

Not a fan of a solid color scheme either.

For looks, absolutely. But soon you'll appreciate the all black interior much more when you keep playing it, believe me. It's a lot better than if they made the insides blu/red, white would still be OK but anything more would be too much. I'm even starting to dislike my all yellow DSi XL

After a day of play I wanted an even bigger screen :p I want at least 5.5"
 
Man, I'm playing Mario 3D Land and the screens already feel extremely tiny compared to the Nintendo Power picture.

I need this thing ASAP :p
 
Was told gamestop will offer a 100 trade in credit of a 3ds, is this true? On my phone atm so when I went on their Site I did not see any info regarding any trade in deals. I have a 100 dollar gift card and the idea of getting a 3ds xl for free is enticing. Was going to get a vita but with the talks of a price drop, I will wait on that.
 
Still not a fan of these half colors. Go full black, full blue, full red, etc. or get nothing at all for me. Would love that sky blue to be all over my body.
 
My goodness, I just went into gamestop to trade some old games in and to preorder the 3DS XL (had a surprisingly great experience btw), and when I told the clerk I was there to preorder the 3ds XL he turned around to grab the 3ds box and I thought for a split second that he was going to sell it to me right there on the spot. Turns out he just gave me the box to let me check it out, but man was that an exciting experience for that brief moment.

It's a great game, I hope you enjoy it. I got my copy on release day. I actually had to force myself to stop playing it because I want to save it for my XL.

In the meantime I have been enjoying the last days of my DSi XL, since I'm going to eBay it for cash towards the 3DS XL. I'm just about finished with Okamiden, which I got right around the time of the 3DS launch and then never got around to starting. I'm glad I finally did.

After selling my 3DS and DSi XL, I will probably break even or even come out a little ahead for my XL. :)

Oh my friend code is 0602-6263-7074 if you wanna play Heroes of Ruin together.

I feel the same way. KH3D has also been sitting here, unwrapped, waiting patiently. I also have DQM Joker 2 coming in on Monday. Theatrhythm has been neglected for about a month now (on purpose) just so I can continue playing on the XL.

I actually went to Gamestop earlier today. At first, they said they're giving $75 for it but I told them I've been hearing that they're supposed to give $100 towards the XL. They knew about it but didn't know when it started. The guy looked on the computer and said the deal should automatically appear when it's applied towards the pre-order, but it wasn't when he tried. Instead, they did an override and put it at $100. So yea, the $100 credit is true. Good luck!

It's almost here!
