Well, I wear pretty tight jeans (it was supposed to be 501 in my earlier post, not 509), so front pockets are not an option for me.
I'm thinking I might keep my XL at home and carry my 3DS around for coins and StreetPass only and do a system transfer every now and then to update my XL.
Unfortunately I believe there's a limit of 5 system transfers between 3ds so this would not work

I actually quite liked the Tanooki Mario keychain that came with 3DLand's preorder. It was metal <3
If you've played RE4/5, those 2 really don't even utilize the dual analogs...
RE is perfectly playable with the single stick and it's well worth your time, great game. My fave in the series since RE 2.
I preordered red initially, changed to blue.

A lot of stuff is stored on the sdcard but the problem is that some/all of that data might be signed meaning that if you where to place that sdcard in someone else's 3DS you won't be able to access it. And I do not think eshop games are tied to some account that's what everybody has been complaining about in this thread
So wait, does that mean when I buy my new XL, my eShop games are gone...? That would make no sense whatsoever.
well, that's exactly what will happen. Your purchases are tied to the console, NOT to any account.
Sell your 3DS before transferring your stuff to your new 3DS, and you might have well as pissed your money down the drain. ALL your eshop games will be gone. forever.

Welp, gonna go out today and preorder a red one.
These things are just too sexy to pass up. The screen is so gorgeous. Going to hold off playing Dream Drop Distance until the 19th, as well. I feel like playing on that screen will be an entirely different experience.

Blue just seems nicer, maybe more flattering red pictures will surface that show a metallic finish?

I don't think you're quite understanding how System Transfer works.
When you transfer from your 3DS to your XL, all of your data will be copied to the XL, then deleted from the 3DS. The intent is to move everything to the new system, leaving the old system as a blank slate. There is no way to share digital software between the two.
The only thing you can share between both systems is cartridge software, and even then, DS games will have their friend codes tied to one system, and any DLC will only work on the system you've downloaded it to.

Yeah, it's just like the Tanooki Mario keychain. Which I also didn't like. Wish I could've gotten one of those Tanooki tails and ears that were given out at events and to the press, lol.
I could care less what it's made out of, I'd rather have a plastic gold coin than a metal pin of Gold Mario. I might actually wear the gold coin necklace, it's pretty cool. The pin is just going to sit there.

I hope so too, I especially wanna protect the touch screen. The stylus can do a number on it's surface, especially after intense Kid Icarus battles.

Those colors are so nice, even red is good. The normal red 3DS was ugly.

Sorry if I mess up my first post... ever, but I scooped up a preorder of the blue from a local Gamestop where I have gotten to know some of the employees and I am excited to play Tales of the Abyss on a larger screen, will be keeping my original Ambassador Black for the time being.

What are we guessing the odds of walking into a Target on August 19th and just grabbing one are? I'm betting on it being easy since I'm not pre-ordering. I'd pre-order it from Amazon if Nintendo weren't still being dicks about stocking them with hardware.
I think I've decided to go ahead and bite the bullet on the XL next month. I'm still not thrilled about the USA color choices but I can live with them if it means increased comfort for my hands along with the larger screen. I've been playing Tales of the Abyss more lately and I have to take frequent breaks because I just don't find the stock 3DS to be all that comfortable for extended play sessions.
Now I just need to decide which color.

I agree completely about the comfortability factor after an extended play session with Tales, I think the blue in pictures look like a better finish than the red for the US, I went with the blue myself.

DS games on the XL are handled exactly like the regular 3DS. The major difference being that 1:1 mode on the XL will be similar in size to DSi screens. People have reported that if you like how DS games look in non-1:1 mode on a regular 3DS now, you'll still like that mode on the XL, which is really exciting to me since DS games on my former DSi XL were a dream. So to sum up you can stretch your games to fit the entire bottom screen and an equally large portion of the top screen (it won't stretch to fit the entire widescreen left and right), or you can choose 1:1 mode by holding start or select as the game boots up and you'll get native resolution which uses the same screen real estate as a current DSi.

Man I want this thing now! I hate what the 3DS is made out of, stupid smudge city. Gimme dat better finish and finally my most wanted aspect, glorious screens.
Please don't go back to smaller screens next time Nintendo. >_< I hated adjusting from my DSi XL -> 3DS. At least now I'll get many years out of the 3DS one as its launching waaay earlier in its life.

Nintendo fanboys are going to cry about his comments, but I found them to be accurate and pretty amusing. The final statement (just a noise) about the regular 3DS cracked me up. The video sold me on red for sure.
Nintendo should have never introduced the 2nd nub in the first place... it's not an "upgrade" without one, apparently. Those top comments...
