All white handhelds just remind me of the original iPod Nano. The DS Lite copied the aesthetic well, but the style has really aged. I think the silver/black 3DS XL looks much more modern. Or less dated, at least. I like the blue/black one, too. The red/black one looks like trash, but not because it looks dated.

I think I'm waiting for different colors or LEs on this system, I haven't done that ever for a ninty.
Seems like a good oppurtunity.

I understand why white seems boring to some, I've experienced that it ages with time. That said, it is important to personalize it.

Too much red hate. I love it, it pops. I want it now! Europe's so lucky this time around. If it was released in NA when it comes out there, I wouldn't have to try and force myself to hold off playing KH3D for two weeks. :(

Are they going to sell that? Transparent shell, white dpad and black buttons makes for a funky looking console (in a good way!).

Transparent 3DS XL from Iwata Asks column.

There really wasn't any place for a second stick (let alone the two extra shoulder buttons coming with it), if we are to believe the pictures.

So this is what a cocaine junkie going through withdrawal must feel like...

Sell me this transparent 3DS XL Nintendo. I don't care how much of a premium cost you slap on top.

I... I need my fix.

Please.

The silver black reminds me of both the original DS and MacBooks and iPads. But since it isn't metal, I guess more cheap nasty laptops.

I wonder what the drawbacks to getting one that clear to market without any ghostly milky color to the transparent plastic

I'll take what they have in those photos it would be a very amazing thing to own

Interesting thanks.

So if the original 3ds is at a loss, and the new xl is at profit, I wonder if the 3dsxl is of cheaper quality or the price refelects the usual reduction in component costs over time, or no longer factoring in R&D or what.

In nz, we've been given an indication that 3dsxl may be similar price as 3DS. Not sure if it's a special, a guess or what.
Probably a combination of cheaper component costs and a cheaper design, not that that necessarily means worse or lesser quality. The original seems to have a multilayered top shell thing going on along with some funky paint job/patterning, different colored plastics, etc., times however many model color variations. The XL looks like it has a black main body and same controls for everything but Japan's white model, then different top/bottom colored shell pieces. Like it probably has less parts, less complexity, less manufacturing variation, thus cheaper costs for the design.
