Why doesn't Japan let English-speakers act?

Like, you guys have seen anime or live-action Japanese stuff where a character speaks English and is voiced by obviously a native English speaker (either they're white or at least from the USA, the actor I mean) and yet the delivery of their lines is sooooooooooo bad.

Why do Japanese directors do this? Why do they make actors that can speak English fluently deliver their lines so poorly?

Yeah, they often don't do the effort searching for proper people and texts. Maybe they have time constraints that stop them spending time looking for native speakers.

And goodnight! Gotta go to bed since I'm too tired!

I don't know. The British spoke normally in Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence

worth noting that they make shows with Japanese audience in mind and for them, that's probably 'west' enough

~25 hours in Persona 3 Portable now. I can safely say, that P4G is so much better. While I like the mainplot and main cast in P3 more, all other things were basically just improvements. And my god, they are so much better in P4G. I really should have played 3 first. xD

The one thing about P3P is that it's a somewhat limited in presentation compared to the console version. For me going from Persona 3 to Persona 4 it was basically "ah yes, now I can control my entire party". P3P to P4 Golden must be quite a bit of a jump in terms of the non-battle related stuff.

Glad I played P3P first, loved it so much. It was a really messy play-through though, was one my first few JRPGs. I made sure I didn't make the same mistake with P4G.

Yeah, definitly. Just some stuff like something happening inside the dungeon (which isn't the case in P3, but in it's defense, most of the story scenes take place outside of it), being able to do more stuff (reading, fishing, catching bugs) and having more events (the only event outside of story relevant things was the beach so far). It's just lacking after playing P4G.

And some more personal things, I really don't like most of the side characters. The only really interesting one so far is the monk, most others are just bland and boring. The writing itself also feels lacking compared to P4. No idea if it is because you don't see the characters walking around, because of the writing or because they don't even have voice overs during rank 9/10. And even though I dislike these things (or not like them as much), the game is still good and especially the main plot is better.

I liked P4G's story more but I get what you're saying about P3P. P4G got so meta towards the end, blew my mind.

But the game told me MaleMC would be the better choice for the first experience. :(

Also, I can finally stat dating Yukari aka best girl.

The only reason to play P3P is to play as FemC since it improves S.links and fleshes out all the male cast members more.

If you just wanted to date Yukari it's better to play FES since it has a better presentation (although the gameplay is another step down from Golden).

I think some other music plays too if you play FeMC. Or perhaps it's just P3P added music for both characters. I don't know as I didn't play that version but listened to the soundtrack.

You're right, the City, Battle and School music change for example, I'm kinda mixed on which side has the better music but it's pretty close. Persona music is always good though so it doesn't really matter what you choose.

I like very much bombay cats. They're like a little black panther with golden eyes
