Rage and Homeland Spoilers:

Fuck that shit.

Homeland is the ish.

You guys are way too invested in which individual shows or actors got the trophies. Just be glad some actually good stuff won rather than American Horror Story or Dexter. That's really all you can hope for from an awards show.

So I guess the consensus is that Mad Men and Breaking Bad are two of the greatest works of fiction to grace humanity. Perfection in 44 minute chunks. And Homeland is overrated schlock, barely above the ranks of a CW teen drama. Good at it's very best, but GREAT? Ha!

Well, that's awfully dramatic. But yes, both are better (and at their respective bests, MUCH better) than Homeland. Which is a fine show in and of itself, if you can divorce yourself from the atrocious final 25 minutes of S1.

While Mad Men losing is rather disappointing, I think we can all agree on what was the best news of the evening: Kevin Costner winning. He has now won an Oscar (x2), a Golden Globe and an Emmy.

Legend.

So excited about the Homeland wins. The debut season was just indescribably good. I am absolutely dying for season 2!

He needs to go after a Tony now so he can join the EGOT club.

There's definitely no shortage hyperbole in this thread.

Homeland is excellent. It's not yet on the same level as Mad Men and Breaking Bad, and I'm very skeptical it ever will be, but I'm not going to bitch about it winning. It had a tremendous first season and has a fantastic cast.

With all of the ridiculous shit that happens at the Emmys, particularly in the comedy categories (Jon Cryer :lol), it's not worth getting bent out of shape about.

I have been with Breaking Bad since the beginning and picked up on Mad Men before season 2 started. Love these shows.. but Homeland's first season was better than everything they'd done up until this current season of Breaking Bad (which is operating at a whole new level even for it) which is of course pertinent to next year's Emmys. Oddly enough, I personally thought season 5 of Mad Men was by far its best yet and still would put Homeland above it.

Man, I don't think I've ever agreed with you on anything TV related ever. I thought S5 of MM was BY FAR the weakest yet, and I'd easily put both S3 and S4 of BB over S5.1 (although its only half a season and not really fair to judge yet). And Homeland S1 only tops maybe S1 of BB and S5 of MM. Maybe.

I'm just giving the MM/BB fans a hard time. I haven't seen Homeland, have only seen the first two seasons of MM before I got bored and quit, and just started BB two weeks ago (about to start season 2).

Haha, to each his own! I think we can both agree Chuck season 2 was its best.. RIGHT? And that Terriers is one of the best shows of who knows how long? If not, you're dead to me.

I might put S1 of Homeland over S2 of Breaking Bad. Might.

Still hate that fucking plane crash.

It was silly, but its not like it was a major part of the season.

We can agree on Chuck S2, yes! Never watched Terriers, as it got canned so quick.

And now that I think about it, will breaking Bad be eligible for next year's Emmys? Or would they have to wait until the conclusion of season 5?

Well, you really need to rectify that then since it'd be so easy to watch it all. Even as a self-contained season, it still works.. I'm sure they knew it was a longshot when they were making it.

I would imagine they have to wait until S5 is over, so the 2014 Emmys for BB 5.2. Which, if true, makes next year's Emmy's Jon Hamm's best chance yet, as Cranston would be ineligible and Lewis likely won't win again.

Which means Michael C. Hall will finally win.

If The Sopranos is anything to go by then both parts will be eligible.

I'm up to midway season 3 in Breaking Bad, and Homeland season 1 totally destroys any season of this show so far. The BB family scenes are not only annoying, they are fucking dexter bad with god damn Manjaw somehow more annoying than Deb. There is too much similarity with dexter and BB for my liking. Walt and Jessie and Saul are great, but the rest of the cast and their plotlines are pretty damn meh. At least in Homeland, the patsy wife is played by a fucking hottie. Plus in addition to Damien Lewis, you have Claire Daines' performance which destroys absolutely every actor of either sex. Her performance has been God Tier, almost Ian McShane level which is tops of all time.

And I thought crawl space fans were crazy.
