Mad Men is a great show but Season 5 was a bit... eh. It never quite hit the peaks of the past four. Breaking Bad is a good show. Homeland may not be a great show yet, but season one was a great season. It's hardly a ridiculous choice.

Rage and Homeland Spoilers:

My government targeted civilians, some of which happened to be children in a drone attack. MY GOD. NO OTHER GOVERNMENT HAS EVER COMMITTED CRIMES AND MURDER. I WILL NOW ABANDON EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER KNOW AND CONVERT TO ISLAM BECAUSE OF THIS HEINOUS CRIME. TIME TO GO PAY THEM BACK THROUGH MORE BLOODSHED OF INNOCENT LIVES.

Homeland teased he big question for so long and then they went with THAT stupid bullshit resolution, and you're telling me that comes anywhere near Heisenberg vs. Fring? The last line of Mad Men's last episode this season held more suspense, profundity and drama than Homeland's entire season.

Fuck that shit.

Holy shit, crawl space lost? Is that even possible.

People who have seen both, is Homeland in the same tier as BB?
No, it's not even close, but it's one of the most impressive first seasons in a while. If it maintains or improves on its current level of quality for a couple more seasons, then i'd maybe think of putting it in the same tier.

I honestly don't know why I watch the Emmy's every year. I always feel like I've wasted a huge chunk of my time. I also watch the red carpet bullshit, which is always super boring. I need to force myself not to watch either of them next year. I could have been doing so many other - better and more entertaining -things.

As for my predictions:

Correct, 8:

Outstanding Comedy Series
Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie
Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie
Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie
Variety Series

Wrong, 10:

All the rest

I'm glad Aaron Paul won. He seemed to be quite moved when he was delivering his speech. Julia Louis-Dreyfus also.

The comedy, miniseries/movie, and variety show awards were mostly lame (except for the totally deserved Girls snub), but the drama awards were great. I was glad for Aaron Paul and beyond thrilled to see Mad Men get shut out.

I'd have to say the best part of the entire show was seeing Jeremy Davies present an award while rocking the Dickie Bennett haircut. I can't imagine the confusion people who don't watch Justified must have felt

Wait so Homeland got more Emmys than BB, GoT, and BW combined?!?!?

GTFO out here with that shit, Academy.

actually I think Game of Thrones won the most (because of the creative ones earlier). But Mad Men went home empty handed, which is pretty surprising... but the reign had to end sometime I guess.

Homeland was really fantastic stuff, either that or BB deserved the win. Bryan has enough awards by now and he didn't really do anything exemplary in the last season. :P

Yeah, Game of Thrones won more Emmy's than any other show with 6. They cleaned shop in the creative categories.

Also, I guess I finally need to watch Homeland.

Fucking Modern Family.

Also Cranston not winning is probably a cop-out because they didn't want to give it to the same guy four times in a row (i know last year he wasn't eligible).

That's weird as fuck and fox is stupid.

That's like uncharted getting made for the Xbox.

It's really not. There are certainly cases where parent networks have made mistakes with certain shows (NBC refusing House is a fine example of this, for instance), but Modern Family was never going to be a fit for FOX - it's too old-fashioned in its sensibilities, and at the time it was debuted FOX didn't have much of a comedy block (and certainly not much of a family focus). For 20th Century Fox, their best bet was at one of the other networks: in this Hollywood Reporter piece, they discuss pitching to NBC and CBS first, then moving onto ABC. FOX isn't even mentioned.
