Gyro aiming is definitely better for guns but as a roller user, the second stick is the superior option.
You use the stick for horizontal camera movements, then gyro for small adjustments and vertical aiming.
It seems you're using them wrong. Only use them for vertical aiming and small adjustments
You shouldn't be using gyro to turn. You should use the right stick to pan horizontally and the gyro for vertical movement and precision aim.
You can use the right analog stick stick for rotating, most people do.
Even if I do know that, I still do the damn turn, my brain sucks I guessYou don't use 100% motion controls; you use the sticks/buttons to get in a range and tweak with the gyro controls. We've all had instances in stick based shooters trying to shoot something but the sticks cause the aim to pass over the object each time or take a bit more time to tweak.
Instead you do it automatically together; allowing very quick play.
That's the thing tho, I have issues trying to coordinate that hahaYou use the stick for horizontal camera movements, then gyro for small adjustments and vertical aiming.

Yeah might be my problem as well, but at 38 is even harder.I'm afraid I'm just too old, curmudgeonly and set in my ways - at the ripe old age of twenty-three - to adapt. It's a pity but I still seem to do very well using the sticks.
Isn't it harder to jump and aim with dual analog though?
I use gyro controls and wipe the floor with 90% of everyone I face. It's far more accurate once you get over the learning curve.
...non motion would have a 0% win rate.Next Splatfest, motion v non motion

Glassless 3D. NO I AM NOT FORCING MY HEAD TO NOT MOVE QUICKLY.
Seriously, if you don't use them or don't like them, force yourself to go through a good portion of the single-player with gyro controls. Then you'll never go back.
Yeah, this is probably the reason tbhPower of the default.
Several use cases have shown that most users will keep the default settings of a system or platform regardless of any advantages offered by customizing them.

I don't own a New 3DS, so I don't have a lot of experience with it, but the demo units with the autocorrecting 3D worked pretty well for me.
I hate gyro controls, but there's something very off about Splatoons non motion controls, so I've had to use the gyro.
Normal doesn't feels as tight as say Gears or Uncharted. Like they sabotaged them so you'd have to choose gyro.
I don't see what the advantage is with a roller. I can definitely see it with the guns but otherwise I think using a roller is more about planning ahead where you are going to paint than anything else.

Good. Splatoon's motion controls need to become the new standard for console shooters.
My wife and daughters don't use motion controllers as they use the paint roller. I assume its the younger audience or less experienced gamers who don't use them...
it's probably older gamers who aren't using them. those people who are too experienced with dual analog controls to switch to something new and different, even if it is the better way to control the game.
#TeamFattiesMore importantly 63% of idiots picked Eating over Sleeping in Splatfest. So despite Sleeping winning more matches, Eating won overall... Boo!
Truth.
Also, some of us are using the sticks because we can't use the gyro. =/

.The best compliment I can pay the controls is that I don't even notice I'm using the pad to aim.
