Probably not its online mode or Nintendo Labo, but there were plenty of great games. What are your most memorable moments?

For me, it's the incredible number of JRPGs: both the retro ones (from Star Ocean 2 to Live a Live) and the new ones (from Xenoblade to Fire Emblem). It's not all exclusives, but it's still the perfect console for them. Expected games that do the job (the Zelda games) and those that I wasn't expecting at all, but that I'm still playing (Ring Fit Adventure).

- Expensive joy cons and accessories
- Countless re-releases of past consoles’ games

- Nintendo being anti-consumer as of late
- Crap like an app being needed for voice chat.

Some games gave me thrills like the Xenoblade series for example but as a system it's clearly lacking.

On the technical side obviously but also in it's UI, its slow as a koopa eshop, the lack of customisation. I really miss what they tried with other systems like the Wii, Wii U or 3DS they all bring something really original to the table like StreetPass, Mii, Channel system woth the Wii, Mii Plaza on the Wii U without forgetting their core base with incredible games.

It was incredible to play something like Zak and Wiki, then some Wii Sports and to play Xenoblade to finish the day.

Now its library is a copy pasta of other system with some Cloud based games because the tech side is so outdated + obviously the exclusives that are where the fire is still coming from.

Now, as a system, the Switch is an underpowered Legion Go, don't forget that we are in 2024 in the era of the Portable PC that brings a lot of things that Nintendon't.

I hope that Switch 2 brings creativity back to the table

I was super excited at the reveal and all over it day one. My experience has been marred by expensive controllers disconnecting and drifting. And having to spend a kinda lot of money till I broke down at bought a pro controller, which I immediately had to spend a few hours opening and reassembling to adjust the dpad (turned out pretty nice, though). And now even if you want to play with the joycons, the attachment rails are flakey and disconnect and I just can't be bothered to get in there because the process of replacing them looks like a pain in the ass.

I find it impractical for portable use unless I'm on a long flight. Need that little tray to kick it up and power to keep going over a few hours.

And in the end, I have got very little use out of it. And truth be told I see it as great for kids as a primary console, and only good for adults as a complementary platform.

Overall though, I say it deserves all the praise. Being great for kids is very important. And once you are invested in general gaming past a certain degree, it's kind of essential even it just for the rare must play nintendo game.

It's an amazing console. The *only* issue I had with the OG Switch was that I feel(pretty sure others do as well) Nintendo could have given us
the option for upgraded docks that can boost the docked gameplay. Better graphics, resolution, framerates, etc. I hope the Switch 2 will remedy this
area.

I guess so. They were struggling on the home console market, and dominant in the handheld space. They effectively made a device that was both.

The Switch does suffer from some greedy Nintendo policies and its 7 years old by now. Nintendo's rate of output didn't really ramp up either despite only having to support one system.

Great concept with a few beefs. I feel like it was already pretty underpowered at release and it feels like a relic almost now, loading times are abysmal.
Using plastic instead of gorilla glass, really?
Stock joycons were crap, especially for full grown “man hands.”
Battery life is poop, and onboard stock memory is a joke.

I expect these issues to be fixed whenever Switch 2 arrives.

Great console, fantastic games, but not without shortcomings. I own one and have my own frustrations.

Pros:
* Handheld / Console hybrid that many have tried to copy
* Multiplayer games galore
* Almost every game is a hit
* Joycons are a fun concept
* Graphics are amazing for a handheld device

Cons:
* Obstructions and Distance destroy Joycon performance to an unplayable level
* Most expensive console to own, $60-$70 per 1st party title with a $400 $300 entry point
* Sales suck
* OS is lackluster and the store is dogshit slow
* Graphics suck and are a couple generations behind, even when it released.

Nintendo dropping home consoles and going hybrid was clearly what they should've have done all along, and I guess 2015 was just the right time to do so. This is the definitive form factor they need to pursue.

That said, the console itself and its library is way overrated. Way too many shitty third party conversions (that don't have the charm of being completely new downsized games like the ones that were being made on GB), remakes, remasters, and straight Wii U ports. They had the benefit of having to develop to a single hardware, and this is what they came up with?
Comparing this shit with the eternal top consoles ever like SNES or PS2 is laughable.

Also, it was the cheapest system to get started with by a mile. Thanks to the joycons being usable sideways, you got 2-player gaming out of the box without even shelling out the $80 for an extra controller that the other consoles usually required as a minimum for any local co-op. Not to mention that it's instantly double duty as home console and handheld for the kids on road trips. Perfect family system for precisely this budgetary reason.

People need to understand that Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft, it all boils down to the same thing: these are companies with shareholders, CEOs and business managers, and their objective in this sector is to sell consoles and games. They're not our friends. They don't give a damn about forums/boards and people complaining about them. They look at Excel files and even if they have PRs that look cool or play video games too, at the end of the day, they're businessmen who want to make a profit. So they're all greedy and as long as it works, they'll pull on the string to earn more.

I disagree with the sales comment. I’m notoriously frugal and my Switch library is filled with excellent games that I purchased at a significant discount. Also being able to share the digital games with my son is a huge bonus.

Yeah, my Switch library is so big it actually embarrasses me because I know I will never play half those games but they really got me collecting on this thing. It's like Nintendo knows the secret to my wallet.

They all have docks and can be hooked up to a Monitor / TV and can be played with a controller. So.. your straight up fucking wrong. If I can use it whilst on the go as well as docked, that's a hybrid console by definition.
