Hello Mitch? It's your cousin Marvin. Marvin Murder!

You know that new sound you've been looking for? Well listen to THIS!

So yeah, Mitch Murder has put out a compilation album, via time travel, sorcery or whatever it's probably the best thing I've heard from him yet. Very diverse, doesn't sound like his usual stuff. If you like DWTD you'd probably enjoy "Savage." the knight rider theme is just LOL though, that one's getting a lot of play in the car this summer.

edit: did I mention it's free? you can grab this one for $0, but throw him a couple of bucks, don't be an ass.

Oh and Dance With The Dead, I need more of this, I've looked around but nothing has come even close to this for me. I started with Perturbator then found out about Dance With The Dead through a recommendation when asking for more stuff like Perturbator, so don't say Perturbator :p. I don't think Dance With The Dead can be topped, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Like my GOD

And these being my two favorites.

Yeah Cobra is my favorite dance with the dead track as well. Out of body in general is great album. Like others have said, you may want to try carpenter brut. Get the trilogy album and listen to the whole thing. It will blow your socks off. Shit is amazing. Also, you may like the latest Dan terminus album, the wrath of code and also GosT's Behemoth, but those guys don't really reach the highs of carpenter brut's trilogy, tbqh.

Continue/Start with these:

Welp, that's going to take me a while.

And back on to Dance With The Dead, I've already checked out Carpenter Brut, Dan terminus, and GosT as well, all good, but not quite on DwtD level so the search will continue. But I'm liking that Mitch Murder guy so far that was just posted, I swear every time I come into this thread I find something.

Nothing has the same wailing guitars as DwtD.

But give Megadrive and ClusterBuster a whirl too:

Yeah I just saw the BandCamp e-mail, the Demons With Shotguns Theme is by far the best track on the album.

Well, even though no one responded to my request for recommendations for "synth for dummies", I went ahead and bought Perturbator's Dangerous Days.

...I love it. This is the start of beautiful relationship.

If you like DD, you should like I Am The Night too. I just listened to this song 'Run', and I'm surprised people like this as much as they do. I haven't played HM2, but the song itself is pretty monotonous. Most synthwave does not sound like this.

My favorite artists: Carpenter Brut, Lazerhawk, Miami Nights 1984, VHS Glitch, and Dance with the Dead.

Thanks for the recommendations. I heard Dance with the Dead on Spotify and I liked it. I'll check out more of it.

As for Run. I just love the way the song grows and adds more layers the longer it goes. By the end, the synth + organ + jumbled vocals + live drums sound amazing when it all comes together.

Edit: I love Le Perv and Roller Mobster. I'm definitely checking out Carpenter Brut next.

Check out MegaDrive - 198XAD, that album is crazy awesome.

Another recommendation is a little different but amazing in its own right: Protector 101 - Wastelands. It's a soundtrack to a non-existent movie, basically an homage to Mad Max 2.

I missed you rpost but i'd suggest checking out some of the compilations in noisepurge's post

The first link, The 80's dream compilation tape, was one of the first i downloaded and i still play it often when i'm doing dishes etc and it led me to a couple of artists i really like.

Also there's a Shogo Let's play that used loads of great tunes who's names i grabbed from the credits and checked them out too.

Also if you like Perturbator then definitely check out Blood Dragon OST by Power Glove

Guise,

I heard Dance with the Dead's "Mask" and "Odessy" on YouTube. After listening to each one on repeat I bought Into The Abyss on band camp. God damn, this guy is good. I love how his use of the electric guitar.

You should love their other three albums. Although I really like Into the Abyss, I'd say it's their weakest.

It's two guys! :D and Out of Body is still their best album.

Wow, Demons with Shotguns is incredible.

I might even buy the game on Steam.

The music is actually even cooler than the album title (which is saying a lot, since it's crazy-cool). xD

Just got the Goblin Rebirth yesterday. It's pretty refreshing as it doesn't dwell too much on the original Goblin. It's subtle, yet damn good. Less horror, more synths, and it does have its proggy moments.

My introduction to synthpop continues. I bought Dance with the Dead - send the signal, and Carpenter Burt - EP 1.

Goddamn. You could replace the soundtrack of some horror game from the 90's with Zombi and no one would be the wiser.

Yea, Zombi is fucking amazing. They've held the Goblin worship torch for a while. Surface To Air and Spirit Animal are my favorites. Surface To Air sounding more like Rush - Hemispheres era.

Their side projects are pretty good too, but more on the Vangelis/Tangerine Dream side.

Steve Moore - The Henge
Majeure - Teleforce

Dance with the Dead are doing a one off show tonight in San Francisco. I wish I could go.

As a new fan of this genre, what are my chances of seeing an band like Dance live?

A synth band is very rare. Most artists are more of the "one person+laptop" variety unfortunately.

Depends on where you live though. Many countries and cities have parties already, just gotta find and follow your local artists.
