Instant buy for me. The original ultimate wireless from 8bitdo is the GOAT controller for the price IMO.

Fantastic controller with one major issue. So many variations on which devices it can work on. They have done an all in one before. I just hate that you can't get one of the newer that works on Xbox, PS, Nintendo and PC.

I'm gonna snag one of these. The first one seems to be well received.

edit-ordered the purple. I hope the Dpad isn't a clicky disater.

Is it one of those that works on both PS and Xbox consoles?

If yes, will be interested for stick placement.

Damn, finally seeing TMR being incorporated here. It is generally regarded as superior than Hall Effect so looking forward to it

- motion controls
- smart dock
- hall effect sticks

My Ultimate replaced Xbox contoroller for PC so 2 is an instant buy. The quality-price-features trifeca is unmatched with 8bitdo

I just wished they had a model with the PS symbols. As someone who grew up with Playstation I just cant for the life of me get used to A,B,X,Y,RB,LB,RT,LT

Thanks for the quick response.
Not sure if this thing works (says it does but... Why wouldn't the Ultimate dongle do the same thing and work too?). Might get it to test.
Edit: Wait this is just for using those controllers on PC or something and not on the consoles?
Edit: Yeah never mind, this is just for using Xbox/PS5 controllers on other devices, boo!

I bought the xbox buttons for my original and have never put them in so I welcome this very much.
Some Steam games will even try to remap the controls to match the labels instead of just changing the button prompts. (Metaphor did this). There was some setting I had to toggle to prevent it.

Not a dealbreaker but it is super annoying having to mentally adjust to games that have Switch buttons vs ones that only have Xbox + PlayStation

How is the compatibility on these for PC generally? Do they work with pretty much every game right out of the box or are there some quirks like with Dualsense?

I have had zero issues with the original 8bitdo ultimate. And the wireless connection is night and day better than the Xbox dongle which would randomly drop out on me.

Original one would be seen by some games as a Switch controller whereas others would just treat it as an Xbox controller. Aside from that it worked perfectly and is easily my favorite controller for PC games.

New one has Xbox button labels so presumably that issue is solved.

tunneling magnetoresistance effect. Presumably having better precision than Hall Effect sensors.

Hmm I'll check on that

Bought the previous iteration like last year and the way that thing is built with HE analog sticks the problem is I won't have a legit reason to upgrade for at least a decade ..

I just ordered the new one for my PC :) current one is going downstairs for the Switch.

After years of working perfectly, my Xbox dongle just recently started briefly disconnecting for about 5 seconds a couple times per day. Fortunately, it hasn't happened yet during any sort of tense moment, but now I've got my eye on the 8bitdo if it acts up at the wrong time.

Seems this has bunch of improvements

I bought the first model a few weeks ago, fuck.

Still have to try it, but it seems like a fine gamepad. Probably better than the Xbox One's I currently use.

Are the TMR joysticks the only new things?

Just saw ArtHands ArtHands post. Looks like quite a few updates.

Curious what the BT mode is on this. The old Ultimate wireless had BT but it was Dinput so rumble didn't work with it.

If the BT is Xinput then I'm definitely getting these for my Sunshine/Moonlight setup with my Apple TVs. I use the Bluetooth model now but the controller pairs as a Switch Pro controller on the Apple TV so the buttons are reversed. Very minor but would be nice to not have to deal with.

Otherwise these are by far my favorite controllers, they don't look too gamery (hopefully I can turn the stick lighting off) and with the dock they pair to the ATV, wake my receiver + TV up, and launch moonlight as soon as I pick them up and press the home button, all while staying charged up while not in use.

TMR sticks.
Hall Effect Triggers.
1000hz polling rate.
Correct stick placement.
Back buttons.
Kind price.

Sounds perfect since I'm pretty much PC only these days.

3rd party are moving past Hall Effect to even better Hall Effect, and 1st party controllers are still stuck in stick drift land.

With the extra buttons on top as well as on back I'm almost certainly ordering when it hits the UK.

Cool, I snagged one, I have quite a few of their previous models. My current go-to controller is the Vader 4, but maybe this one will supplant it.

Tempting. I might be game if the rumble has better definition and intensity compared to the default Xbox controllers shipped with the Series Consoles.

I wish this controller functioned like a Steam Controller so we can use both gyro & back buttons/analog triggers with one mode

I wish they would light the buttons up. I say this a little bit as someone who sometimes struggles with the Xbox layout immediately after playing a Switch game, but mostly as a parent with young kids who don't know the layout regardless of what platform they are playing on.

How's the build quality on 8bitdo controllers these days?

Considering them as long term replacements, Xbox durability has gotten much worse for me over then-years. Elite 2 is the last one for me, very disappointing device overall.
