The craziest thing is how easy this would have been to fix. All they had to do was darken the iris and increase the iris size. That's all I've done to the following image and she all of a sudden doesn't look completely insane.
I quickly/horribly shoved Aloy's larger iris/smaller pupil eyes over the existing pale irises and wandering pupils:
Less wired/more human.
It's NUTS how easy that was for both of you guys. Seriously, how was BioWare incapable of fixing the fucking eyes?
Again, I ask: Who was the art director for this game??

I picked up on the eye problem very early on. I did some minor tweaks, and even then I'd still shrink the pupils a little.
It's the same damn problem that affected films like The Polar Express.
If you can't get the eyes right, the rest falls apart.
Games like Horizon and Until Dawn have really raised the bar on believable eyes this gen.

I am a massive Bioware fan and I can't stop laughing at these. Like legitimately close to piss my self territory there a few times. This has superseded my love for that Fallout 3 gif of the deathclaw falling out of the sky.
They really should have fixed some of this before launch, hopefully the day one patch addresses them but at the same time it's hilarious.
I don't understand though, Dragon Age: Inquisition for it's many faults had some pretty decent animations, even facial animations. I know different studio and all that but they really should have been working from that standard

Looks like they used facial capture but never went back and clean up the subtle animations that the software picked up, so..... a rush job.

It's definitely in-engine. No way to prove it's gameplay-consistent until we play it, but it's in real time. Power of Kojima and the Horizon engine.

It is in-engine. However it is also a cinematic made well before game related compromises have taken hold.

I thought Denuvo just meant no injection-based modding. Like, texture modding is still okay.

Its horrible. You can clearly see there was no seamless stitching together of the animations. It literally jump cuts from one of the animations to the next.
Well, the same engine with finished, finalized, released in-game stuff still gave us these:
I see no reason Kojima won't work similar magic, given his pedigree.
