Bioware Eyes is the new Pixar Smirk.

My husband is still doing the wide-eyed fish look everytime he walks past. I'm afraid his face is going to get stuck like that forever.
"I'm sorry, your husband has a terminal case of Bioware eyes. There's nothing we can do."

As someone else said earlier, calling it like I see it. I'm not gonna coddle gamer culture sexism.

Thank you.
There's nothing with calling out sexism, but he's right that you make a lot of blanket blaming in threads, and generally a lot of arguments made for female characters showing even a little bit of skin.

If you lessen that, it's fine since there are some assholes in GAF.

I've put a couple hours into the trial now and the experience of playing the game is nowhere near as offputting as the experience of watching the game. At least on PC, the faces/animations don't feel nearly as awkward as these gifs would lead one to believe, and the combat/exploration is really fun in a way that ME has never been before. It costs $4.99 to try it for 10 hours on Access, anyone on the fence should at least give it a shot before pre-judging it based on a hyperbolic gif thread.

Edit: And yeah, I think the gifs are hilarious too

BTW people can play the game for free if they use the access trial, even EA is advertising that. Too bad i can't play it right now.

Far better without the makeup, which just sticks out.

It's the kind of makeup application that girls do when they're first learning - and I say this as someone who skirted the clown makeup line as a young teen. But it's really the eyes that are the main problem.

A photoshop mixing the ones that add better eyes and remove the makeup would make her look massively better.

I don't know, but weren't Asari ment to be somewhat hot as part of the plot?

Not even getting into attractiveness being subjective, but Peebee is far from ugly. Like with Ryder, the animations are causing her to look odd.

Why are yall trying to bang peebees play house or Second in command mom with the I want to speak with your manager haircut?

We all know the turian girl has a fantastic personality and something about her makes me want to bang, ok?

PeeBee looks like a Blue Shrek

I would agree, but seeing the shrek comparisons... I don't know, can't unsee that shit lol

I don't get the Shrek comparisons at all when she isn't doing the Shrek smirk. She looks like every other Asari.

I wanted to stay away from Turians since I had Shepard romance Garrus, but her and Liam are the only party members that I find remotely interesting.

Those eyes are unforgivable. They're one of the easiest things to fix as well ffs.

Yeah they're normally the first thing modders mod.

I don't see how a the hundreds of people working on the game don't notice it and then bring it up, and assign some resources to fix it.

If a sole modder can fix it in a week, a dev like bioware should be able to do it easily. Especially when conversations are 1/2 of the game and these eyes are complete detract from every single human beings face in this game.

Same thing for the makeup, though that impacts less characters.

I would agree, but seeing the shrek comparisons... I don't know, can't unsee that shit lol

I mean, shrek is supposed to be more cute for kids than ugly.

Some people will never admit devs can be lazy. They can be over-worked, under-staffed, or mis-managed, but never lazy. The gaming industry is the one exception in the whole of humanity.

I am reluctant to call lazy the devs who made a game like this.

Sure, the animations arent film perfect but then again games have become so overwhelmingly complex.

I'd sooner reconsider whether games should stop chasing tech than call devs lazy.

Everything I've seen so far of this game just screams 'disinterested'. EA don't give a fuck, Bioware don't give a fuck, gamers don't give a fuck.

Hundreds upon hundreds of people working on something and being bored doing so leads to stuff like this.

Because sexualized video game characters are so uncreative and tropey, that being the most important word here, that's it's super easy to pick out the motivations behind why a character looks someway.

EDIT:Two posts above me, Ironman?

Tha fact the models badly animates and has dead eyes, dosn't have anything to do with the actual modelling.

Some people aren't just asking better eyes and better animation, they're asking the model to be the perfect standard of beauty. Is not the first time we see this, the same happened with Alloy.

Those people are batshit insane. Aloy looked like her model, didn't have anything weird in regards to animation and facial design, resembled a human being, and yet some people kept calling her "manly", and "unattractive".

Yeah we need more below average looking men and women in games! Esp. when Bioware uses supermodels for models for their games.

Peebee on the other hand is taken much too far in the other direction. Somewhere in between Shrek and Supermodel doing cosplay would be the sweet spot.
But why? She looks great in that right pic! But oh well it's not like they will (or can?) patch a character design. Not much to do about it, I guess they're just going for the everyday look with this game? The "gorilla-girl" in the OP looks hot though so maybe not.

Thank you.

Please, if you are quoting someone, actually quote that person and maybe use Bold or Italics on the part that you want to talk about.

It's not nice to create your own quotes and put those words in people's mouths. Actually that can be called misleading and defamatory.

Please refrain from doing that.

This is not only directed to you but it's public announcement as well, that is why we have those tools available and besides, it is the right thing to do.

I have a huge feeling I'm going to regret buying this but the huge mass effect fan in me is telling me to buy it regardless.

Of course. Pre-ordered this long ago and there's no way I'm cancelling. My thoughts on the game have even softened. I've listened to a few other takes and it seems at least like the game's problems aren't totally pervasive. And there are a lot of good things too.

But I definitely see instances where the team was clearly rushed and didn't have time to apply enough polish. And then in a few other instances I see not laziness but, I'm sorry to say, just total fucking incompetence. Whether that's at a ground level or an oversight level or both I don't know. But some of the design, animation and writing choices are just flat out bad.

not a confirmation of anything but "they are looking into it";

CC patch has already been mostly confirmed and you might expect some form of animation fixes later. My expectations are still just fixing the worst of the worst and the rest being the way they are.

Better than nothing, I guess.

If this thread proves anything pertaining to animation it's that animation > outright graphical fidelity when it comes to suspension of disbelief and immersion. Bioware's latest efforts show increase in fidelity (when it actually works) without commensurate increase in animation quality.

Long live QWOP.
