A Hillary PAC is spending $1 Million to ‘Correct’ Commenters on Reddit and Facebook

So are they essentially doing mass shilling? Eg like the JIDF? Usually organisations etc resort to this sort of stuff when they're trying to shut people off from the truth, or mislead, drown out an alternative message, skew messaging in general, change hearts and minds, or push through favourable propaganda or information. Interesting to know these are the sorts of tactics her PAC's of all things are resorting to, because her own supporters evidently can't do the job, or simply aren't enough.

It's also interesting in the sense that it highlights why her own campaign might have to spend less money on these sorts of things. She's essentially got the establishment and/or PAC's etc spending the money to do this sort of thing for her.

Reminds me of Russia paying/having a team in the gov't to try and spin propaganda online when the Ukraine conflict was the big thing being discussed.

I've definitely had a few people who went above and beyond in their Hillary defense on the subreddit I moderate and posted about literally nothing else. Seems like this sort of thing.

$1 million is a lot of money and with this sort of thing and will likely spread a very long way. Say they paid as much as $5 a post, that's still 200,000 posts worth. In all likelihood they're probably paying much less than that.

And $5 a post would be massively overpaying. I'd bet a few cents each absolute max, probably a lot less.

Absolutely. In all honestly I reckon this move will probably see several million 'shill' posts in defence of her, or against Bernie and others. Just more evidence of the 'establishment' trying to skew messaging in favour of Hillary.

I've been pro Bernie for a long time, but damnit Hillary cut me a check and I'll tell people Feeling the Bern is what leads to STD's.

You would need to spent a lot more than a million dollars to make any serious impact on social media. As expected, Reddit will overreact and will claim any pro-Hillary comments are now paid for.

I find the growing industry of comment astroturfing fascinating.

Is there a a call centre style office somewhere of people going on reddit / random news sites comments sections / GAF or is this more a work from home situation?

Read stories about how Russia has offices full of these kinds of people spreading the good word of Putin online but not really sure how the business works in the US.

Would love to see the job requirements.

If you can't trust the people posting "YASSSSS QUEEN HILLARY" over and over again, who can you trust?

The people with esoteric, borderline erotic Hillary avatars?

Eh, sometimes I see some real bullshit on reddit and jump in even though I know it is talking to a brick wall. What pisses me off is the run away conspiracy theories. It's not enough that the Hillary Campaign or a Surrogate did something or say something bad(to them). It literally always turns into THE WORST THING EVER DONE IN THE HISTORY OF POLITICS!

Then you see everyday it's the same type of hyperbole of turning molehills into Mt. Everest and it is no wonder Sanders campaign is where its at.

This is bad? Almost every single Bernie supporter in Reddit is a brainddead white 20 something male who spew uninformed bullshit. Maybe this will help them learn a thing or two about actual politics.

At this point im not even sure if this is a real post or not.

The replies and lack of posts in this thread is really sad.

Due to FEC loopholes, the Sunlight Foundation’s Libby Watson found this year that Correct the Record can openly coordinate with Clinton’s campaign, despite rules that typically disallow political campaigns from working directly with PACs.
“SuperPACs aren’t supposed to coordinate with candidates. The whole reasoning behind (Supreme Court decision) Citizens United rests on (PACs) being independent, but Correct the Record claims it can coordinate,” Watson told The Daily Beast. “It’s not totally clear what their reasoning is, but it seems to be that material posted on the Internet for free—like, blogs—doesn’t count as an ‘independent expenditure.’”

How can any of her supporters be okay with this? What are the odds people are being paid to make comments that facilitate the "bernie bro"

"We're gonna correct all you BernieBros angrily ranting about the influence of money in politics and Super PACS by creating a 1 million dollar Super PAC"

If Bernie could get back his millions that he wasted on Tad Devine, maybe he could also spend that money responding on social media, LOL

Really don't think SuperPACs should even exist; but I don't know why people are assuming this is only to correct Bernie supporters. It's not like they are the only ones ranting against Clinton.

In fact they claim their goal is to correct conservative rhetoric.

At least they announce this in a press release too; this would be way creepier of the entire op was secret.

"We're gonna correct all you BernieBros angrily ranting about the influence of money in politics and Super PACS, by creating a 1 million dollar Super PAC funded internet shilling scheme"
Fixed. But yea, pretty much lol.

Was about to post the same thing. If this is true, they're literally using a loophole to pour more money into politics, to "correct" the people who, at least partially, are complaining about money influencing politics. Why do they think this a good look for them?

Edit: Misunderstood who was giving the quote. I couldn't believe they were actually bragging about it, it makes more sense for someone else to be remarking about it instead.

Is this where we audition for the job?

Given that he's the guy who gave us gems such as:

and

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=184438547&postcount=8

Ya, he's probably doing interviews right now rofl.

A bit more on topic, the real story is a PAC coordinating outright with a candidate, though given it's Brock it isn't very surprising since he has said he coordinates with Clinton in the past.

this is great news. maybe this PAC can redirect these wayward youngsters, help them glean a bit of insight into how the political process works from the local level all the way up the the presidential election and stop them from voting against their best interests.

The notion that Clinton isn't deserving of massive criticism for embodying things that supposed liberals have been rallying against in general for years now (like corporate money in politics, voting for the the biggest and most costly foreign policy disaster in decades) is both absurd and disgusting. All of a sudden those issues don't matter with Hillary now that she's a frontrunner for president "cuz reasons". Comments like this:
good, fools need to be corrected.
are a reason I've been losing faith in a real movement to make substantial change to a system that is fundamentally broken. In the end party fanboys will fall in line. Real criticism of Hillary? Deflect with fanboyish bullshit about "bernie bros" (what am I to call all the female Sanders supporters I know?) and move on, I guess. Hillary supporters accusing "bernie bros" of brainlessly supporting their candidate should take a good look in the mirror.
