A Hillary PAC is spending $1 Million to ‘Correct’ Commenters on Reddit and Facebook

The Super Pac should take the million dollars and put together a counterpoint website, that helps arm supporters with accurate policy information and links. With tips on being persuasive and what to do and not to do.
Not sure if that would fall under the loophole they are using. Maybe the end game is to get someone to file a lawsuit against the practice.

This rationalization is hilarious. Obviously since they're loosely associated with your preferred politician the point it could just be a master plan to stop a bad practice.

This makes me want to just comment about Hilary with ridiculous things to see if i get corrected.

"Hilary Clinton has cooked and eaten AT LEAST 5 babies and we know one was cooked on a George Foreman grill"

All part of the plan

Propaganda. Hillary Clinton is salvation. To think otherwise is thought crime. Your vote will be in full compliance with our vision. Report offenders immediately to the ministry so that we may take corrective action.

Sounds like a bunch of sexist Bernie Bros in here desperate to stop Queen Hillary's momentum. Also, have you guys tried EA Access? I was pleasantly surprised by the price and selection.

Feels pretty dirty when our future president is caught astroturfing the internet with paid employees to go around arguing with people to make them look better.

I mean, if it's good enough for Putin, it's good enough for us...?

"How do I reach these keedz?"

I would correct nonsense like this for free.

I love how Bernie is just covered in fucking birds. I love Bernie but the whole bird thing is pure cringe.

Isn't this commonplace for candidates in the online era?

This is the Bernie version, which is based on the Obama version.

While I'm sure there are astroturfers, I don't think these are the organizations directly paying for those astroturfers for either side... but these groups do help make the tools that astroturfers may eventually use if they were interested in participating in GOTV, phone/facebanking and social media campaigns.

i'm enjoying the fact that absolutely no one decided to address this post in favor of prolonging the pretense that clinton is a special snowflake in this regard

Because that article is talking about marketing on the internet, not astroturfing.

one provides the tools for the other so i'm not seeing a very big fundamental difference

(though irrespective of any difference, david brock is still a putz so i hate everything about this)

Anybody with open eyes could have told you this kind of shit is going on. I'd be surprised if it was not happening on Neogaf.

I'd guess any time you see someone say something ridiculous like "I was a Bernie Sanders supporter, but lately some of the things he's said..." you're probably dealing with a shill. Either that or they simply were never a Sanders supporter to begin with. They use language like that to persuade actual supporters and make whatever bullshit they have to spew sound more agreeable. If you pay attention though it's easy to see right through it.

Wow. How much is Bernie paying you?

There is an ongoing information war that is executed through social engineering.

It is one of the reasons i initially stepped into the poltical threads on GAF. I noticed a very euro and bernie slant start springing up in these forums. Shit, step into a Ukraine/Russia thread and map those posters to current political threads.

I continue to be impressed at how tech-savvy Clinton is. She astroturfs, she set up her own mail server, she's into drones. That'll appeal to millenials in the general.

Hilary is our beloved queen and she will bring peace to the middle-east

that should be enough to pay off my student loans

The biggest issue, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that Sanders was using his own donated money which has caps on it. Citizens United made it legal for corporations and unions to spend from their general treasuries to finance "independent" expenditures related to campaigns. In this case "independent" doesn't mean independent because of the loophole. Astroturfing is bad in general, but it gets super bad when the deep coffers of a political action committee are allowed to finance this while coordinating with a campaign.

It worries me that people think her campaign is the only one astroturfing.

Bernie Too

The big problem is the SuperPAC and campaign allegedly working together via a loophole. It's already known campaigns use their SuperPACs in ways they're not supposed to, but it sounds like this crosses a new line.

Edit: Trojita said it better on the bottom of the last page.
