Needs a third option, take a look at their old games and do something with that spirit, not necessarily pixel art either.

FF7 remake is the best thing they've done since FF5.
Do new things that follow FF7's scifi+fantasy world route and it's action+classicrpg battle system, FF16 looks pretty bland in comparison.
