A Tale of 'Merica and Milk - I just walked out and abandoned a job interview. FML.

against ToS to directly insult a Gaffer.

i've seen this happen all the time here...i first assumed the modding quality was on par with bungie.net where the mods don't care(i've seen one call a regular user a bitch and to stfu in the off-topic forums over there) but these forums are too big. i doubt a mod here scan these threads with 1000+ posts 24/7

also i can't seem to find the report button lol

Unemployed alpha thinks he's worth more than 70k a year and waiting 45 minutes for an interview.

Walks out before interview and then sends company an email telling them they are unprofessional.

OP stands up to 99% of posters saying they are wrong and he's right...Gets banned for going overboard crazy by saying submissive men drink milk.

wat

Gaffers get insulted all the time. You do something stupid you get called out on it.

What got Thacker was the homophobic and sexist remark.

Sexist and homophobic comments can probably be considered insulting to GAF or specific posters. Just saying.

There's also his post where he questioned if anyone on GAF was actually successful.

Well, sure, it applies to people on GAF as well, but it's not like it's specific to GAF or any specific posters here, it's a more general and wide-reaching comment.

And he stated numerous times that people weren't successful, and nothing seemed to happen. His ban came pretty much right after that particular "milk" post.
So, my assumption would be that all the other stuff was fine, but that post was the one that did it.

We seriously need a symbol that can be edited into thread titles as a Lionel signal.

Though for something like this I imagine it's going to take him a bit to do a write up

he basically called all of NeoGAF sissies because we wouldn't stick up for ourselves by walking out of an interview after 45 minutes.

seriously, not even exaggerating

I'm not a sissy because I would continuously assault the interviewer with passive aggressive guilt tripping. Tell him how much difficulty I had finding the place. How my car is parked in timed parking and might be getting towed, or I may not have enough to pay for the extra hour parking fee. Tell him how I had left another appointment early to get there on time. Tell him about my sick pets, and how my best friend's husband might be gay.

edit: it's soy milk that has the estrogen

I get where you're coming from however in this situation, I don't consider what the owner did as "treating him like shit." That's an extreme accusation.
He has a track record of bitching and moaning about everyone and everything on GAF.

He also has an ego the size of 'Merica, because obviously he's the only American who has day to day struggles.

He should be more mature and "suck it up" to pay his bills, but I really doubt someone with that much insecurity is even a gambler.

My unprofessional IANAD opinion? He's a pathological liar with narcissist tendencies.
They didn't treat him like shit. They let him wait for 45 minutes.

Perspective is a great thing to have.
Thing is any reasonable person doesn't see waiting a half hour when you have nothing better to do and are in need of money as being treated like shit. The boss wasn't coming out with his metaphorical dick out asking OP to suck it. From what's been written, the guy just in a routine that he wanted/or had to adhere to. It's a perceived slight rather than an intentional one. Any reasonable person would have just asked what was going on or taken the affable route of turning the job down politely instead of leaving an burning the bridge afterward.
As I said, my actual problem is in understanding how people see "putting up with shit" as a standard now. I don't care so much for OPs case. It just surprised me how much people will bow down, just to get a job. It's like a disease, that companies think they are something better than their workforce, which brings in the skill, knowledge and money. It's should be a fair trade. People should respect each other, and if either the employer or employee are late, it shouldn't be that much of a deal, but handled with enough respect. So just to use OPs case as an example, it is not and it shouldn't be normal to let somebody wait 45 minutes without saying anything. That's not just a bit rude, but showing how much respect that person has for you - 0% in this case. Comments like "Don't wanna wait an hour? Then you don't deserve the job." make me wanna puke.

Honestly, it's sad that we came to a point were people need to beg for a job to pay their bills, but I can't really support this behavior at all. So whatever the OPs track record is, I don't care, but I'm all for how he handled the situation. Fuck people who think their job offer is better than the human being applying for it.

Anyone else just get a gut feeling by page 2 or 3 that OP was going to get banned?

Once the thread blew up, I knew it was over for him. He just couldn't walk away.

You don't think it's reasonable to think that he should have at least asked what was going on before storming out?

And then one day you wake up and realize idealism gets blown away by reality. Keep dreaming.

Damn, the power of GAF;

So I'm confused. Am I some sort of pathetic boy because I use unsweetened coconut or almond milk on my cereal? I'm just trying to have a healthy breakfast here.

Once the thread blew up, I knew it was over for him. He just couldn't walk away.

I knew it was going to happen. I even sent him a PM to just walk away because he would say something to get himself banned at some point. I guess he ignored it.

I used to be idealistic like this, until you realize that the labor market doesn't see you as a unique person with a unique skill set.

I think the mods deleted the thread. I can't seem to find it.

Pretty sure it's the same dude. I remember the smug King Bugs avatar.

Yes, detective-GAF went overboard and we had to delete the thread.

As far as other moderation questions, yes, directly insulting other members will generally get you banned, if someone does it to you or you see it in a thread please PM a mod, blah blah blah, and if you want to continue this conversation please take it to PM. Thanks.

We can still insult you, though? That's grandfathered in or some shit, right?
OP is lucky this wasn't a legal job, his antics would be on Above the Law already.
OP did attempt to briefly elucidate GAF as to some of the finer points of the FLSA, though I think I'm the only one who was amused by that.
