Dark Phoenix lol.
Midnight release in East Coast or West Coast?
9pm or Midnight for us Cali/Nev/Wash/Oregon peeps?
I read the facebook post and yet still believe it won't be up until 9 am Pacific.
If it's like regular Nintendo midnight launches (including some third party material on Wii U) then it will be 12am eastern, 9pm Pacific
All my jelly.I am not holding my breath, but I am hoping for the best.
I still have GTA5, Project Diva F, Tales of Xillia, and Pokemon Y to tide me over until then. Hooray for backlog!!!
Ive heard a few people say it ranks just below AA3 for them. What is the reception like for the game?
What is the reception like for the game?
Embargo is up until 3 AM EST. In terms of import impressions, I very much enjoyed it, as has just about everyone else I've spoken to. It's not perfect, but it's a strong entry in the series.

High high praise.
SPOILERS FOR LAST CASES IN AA1-3, SO BASICALLY ALL, PLUS A LITTLE FROM AA4
Because Matt Engarde is still not as evil as Manfred and Dahlia. He might be as evil as Zak and Kristoph, but Manfred murders Gregory Edgeworth, then raises his son, molds him into his own image, then tries to blame Gregory's death on him. He spent over a decade raising a child with the sole intention of destroying the child so he could get satisfaction for a slight by a man who he has already killed. Von Karma is the most evil man in the entire series. Everything Matt does is petty compared to that. Even hiring an assassin. And Dahlia was essentially a serial killer. She'd murdered two men and tried to kill two more. Then she came back from the dead as an evil spirit and tried to kill more people. She's only less evil than Manfred because Manfred RAISED A KID for the sake of his plan.
Hey, I LOVED Investigations. Kay is awesome.Yeah, but as a fan even a crappy ace attorney will make me happy.
People didn't like Investigations and I LOVED that game.

Can't wait, replaying AAI while I wait. Forgot how fun that one is. I think I remembered it the least compared to all of the others, but it's really cool, especially all the ameos and little bits of world in there.
AAI Case 3 Spoilers, with AA4 thrown in:
There was the Gaviners logo on the stage, Ema, Phoenix, May and Pearl in the lake, Viola's threatening letters, stuff like that. And Sal Manella in case 2. Not to mention, I THINK I see Shelly DeKiller at the main gate to Gatewater Land, but it's jard to tell.
Another question though, when exactly does AAI1 take place, before or after T&T? Primarily because Viola is still employed at Tender Lender, OTOH, Oldbag is not longer working at the computer company. So, is it in the two months between Phoenix's last case, and him losing his badge?
Also, I really think JFA gets shat on too much. To me, T&T was the biggest disappontment. The last case had some really cool moments, and some just brainbending stupidity. When it worked, it was great, but when it didn't, yeowch. That and IMO T&T had the least memorable supporting cast, outside of Iris.
If I had to I think it would be Trucy=Ema>Maya>Kay
I have a hard time ranking the sidekicks. If I had to I think it would be Trucy=Ema>Maya>Kay. It's a very fine line between them all, I hope Athena can live up to their standards.
I love Trucy as a character but she's just the wrong assistant for Apollo; she's too damn good at her job!
It's kind of like playing case 1 of Ace Attorney except the whole damn game. She's a better defense attorney than Apollo is!
To the people who have already played the game (aka GSR), does the Mood Matrix system ever become more challenging? I played the demo and it seems really brainless. The mood discrepancies were super obvious. Even though that was just a demo, I can't think of any way they could make that system difficult or interesting. Same thing with the Perceive system which I hated in AJ and is returning in this game. They don't require any thought and just seem to get in the way of the cross examinations.
My man!
Though the haters will want you to differentiate AA1 Ema and AA4 Ema.
Ugh at the OP.
Been playing iOS HD trilogy on iPad since summer and I am pretty goddamned shocked at how much vitriol is tossed about at the port. Half the complaints make little sense to me, "worse presentation, user interface pops in and out everytime someone talks" The fuck??? Never noticed any lag either.
This is some Sonic has green-eyes level of garbage complaints. Compared to my DS copy, the high-resolution and full screen horizontal interface is a massive improvement, despite any minor animation cuts that I never noticed. I'm wrapping up case 5 of AA1, so I am unsure how the music complaint stands out in the sequels yet, but FFS to call this port "terrible". Music might be the only complaint that might be worth considering if it is indeed as awful as stated in AA2 and 3.
At the very least iOS is a very competent and cheap alternative to grey market cart hoarding that delivers the core intention of getting new players ready for the new game. Definitely not seeing any reason to be so cold-blooded about the iOS releases though.
Otherwise, looking forward to this game...after I finally play through AA2,3, and 4. Really hope pricing for AA4 is not ridiculous by the time I finish the trilogy. Loving it all so far.
Hm. I'll say it never gets really difficult - in fact, the game as a whole is on the easy side - but they do some cool stuff with it later on.

I can't recommend the iOS version to anyone. It's simply too much of a downgrade from the DS releases. The only improvements are the visuals and pricing, but other than that it's worse in about everything else.
-Missing animation frames (no blinking, sometimes people don't open their mouths when talking or are missing one of their talking frames, etc.).
-Sometimes a character does the wrong animation entirely.
-GBA-quality soundtrack for the 2nd & 3rd games (this should be a dealbreaker to you; you must hear the amazing soundtrack this series offers in the best quality possible).
-Pearl's theme is gone.
-More typos.
-Overall performance is worse. Some parts lag for no particular reason.
-Worse presentation, such as the user interface popping in and out every time someone talks.
-Sound effects are off. The "not guilty" cheer is cut-off halfway through, for example.
I wholly recommend getting the DS versions of the games instead, unless money is a real issue for you.
Oh, I have a whole batch of new complaints now that I'm almost done.
I'll hopefully finish it up by the time AA5 gets released.
I try to forget AA4 Ema. There was no need to neuter her like that. She was a disappointment as a grown up version and then an added disappointment as a poor replacement for Gumshoe. I mean she wasn't bad, just didn't live up to expectations.
Grown up, I did kind of appreciate the bitterness and cynicism that comes when reality bitch slaps you as you get older (trust me, it happens). It is just that her personality chance was a little too stark from her AA1 Case 5 appearance.
Frankly, I haven't touched it in a long ass while so maybe it was updated, but all those things were present when it was released.
Anyone know at exactly what time it will go up on the eshop?
I liked the change. It made sense given what she went through over time.

11PM CDT/12AM midnight EDT
I would have been ok with her cynical evolution if there were more and more prominent bursts of the old Ema getting giddy about science and investigating, whereas she barely registers any amount if interest even at her best.
Woah, Capcom did that? Maaan, they need better people handling this stuff. I can't believe they let stuff like this slide out while taking down harmless videos like yours. Anyway, people should just be more conscious in general I hate it because I've been avoiding spoilers like the plague, and who'd guess my love for AAI2 would get me spoiled...It's always rustled my jimmies that when I recorded case one, marked it as having spoilers, and noted in the description that I wouldn't record later cases, Capcom hit me with a copyright claim, and yet the various "AA5 BREAKDOWN/<insert other major spoiler>" videos with spoilers in the thumbnails (and often titles) are still up.
It's just frustrating that the stuff designed mostly to spoil stays up while actual gameplay footage gets taken down.
For those unaware: Capcom's Facebook page said the game would come out around Midnight (presumably EST). However, a GAFer talked with Capcom's Community Manager and he said "to our knowledge" it would come out around the standard eShop update time.
Hopefully the their Facebook page is the correct one, but prepare to wait a bit longer if otherwise.
Wait, I haven't been around today. Are we possibly looking at a midnight release?
Yeah, but as a fan even a crappy ace attorney will make me happy.

Nakama!
Was going to finally dig into the series, but Nintendo for some reason isn't selling the other games on the eShop? Is it alright to just jump in on this one, or should I track down the other physical releases?
