am i missing something? her nudes were sent around the office? i mean thats not the greatest thing in the world but also not horrible. sounds like she was sleeping with her boss and sending coworkers nudes….kinda dumb.

anytime anyone kills themselves is horrifying but i dont know this person and i dont want to put the weight of someone killing themselves on someone else if wht they did didnt warrant suicide.

what im saying is that whoever passed her nudes around shouldnt have to bear that burden. she was very likely already mentally disturbed if she killed herself over sexual harassment rather than just NOT sleeping with her boss and giving nudes out or just finding a new job.

and there it is... without any evidence whatsoever you manage to blame the woman in this... you sir are what we call round these parts a cunt

I don't get the frat boy culture, sure in the office we all get on like lads, but the buck stops with the ladies ffs cause you know we all have respect for them and if some work colleague tried to show nudes of a female co-worker id personally march him by the throat into the directors office, have some fucking respect for our fellow humans

Sorry man, but that's fucked. I get she may not have been in a great mental place, most people who commit suicide aren't. But having your nudes sent around the office isn't horrible? Whoever passed her nudes around shouldn't bear that burden?

What the actual fuck......

Where does you work that this kind of stuff isn't a big deal?

What if they found her onlyfans and shared the link? They make it sound like they were passing photos around but this isn't 1990.

I find some of these accusations hard to believe to be blunt, Activision have pretty sizable HR teams and legal teams and I would be very surprised if these reports are common occurrences and not one off events by previous/fired bad employees.

Putting it out there: the legal proceedings will take years, and whatever Bliz will be made to pay won't be significant, and the company will lumber on. Some employees will be chosen to fall on their swords (any management/execs will do so with a package that we'll never know the details of) in the name of "we're making changes, look! look!", but they won't throw their talent under the bus. Oh, they'll announce some kind of diverse workplace safety council of elders with third party quasi-oversight and maybe a new position or two to allow employees voices to be heard.

This won't sink them. Companies are like lizards, they'll shed their tails to survive.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Riot Games go through something similar to this as well? And they sure seem to still be going and going still

It's a valid question, the story is missing a fair bit of context. How did they get access to nude pictures of someone, or were they sharing already public stuff?

We had a similar situation in the UK where a teacher had an onlyfans and some students found it and shared the pictures, the teacher ended up being fired (?) And then sued the council.

We had a GAF thread about that girl who got Chris Avellone fired then people found her porn video, which was linked to and discussed in the thread. Are we a boys club now too?

I love to dunk on Activision but any company with 1000+ staff is going to have bad apples, I find these reports too shocking to be something endorsed by the company itself, it's not like riot where they had literal bedrooms in the office for staff to have sex on.

Read the many accusations in the lawsuit. Then look at Activisions response. This sounds like more than just one or two bad apples. It sounds like culture. Usually that is either top down, or due to management letting rotten people do what they want. Either way isn't great. If I'm Activision and this lawsuit is bullshit that is exactly what I say in response, a "these accusations are baseless and ridiculous, and we look forward to our time in court to address these lies". But seriously, their response doesn't read that way at all

What are you 14? do i need to explain adult relationships to you and that in some relationships partners will share photos with one another and if said couple break up, the decent fucking thing a normal human would do is delete those nudes not what more than likely happened in this case... share the fucking things with a "friend"

So how about you drop the only fans shite because if she had an onlyfans page she'd hardly fucking commit suicide over it..

This is gross. But at the same time, did any of this has ever been reported to the supervisors or better yet, the police? Because sorry to say, but if there's a silent permission for this kind of behavior and no one directly/indirectly responsible ever takes any consequences, then those things will keep happening, even escalate further. We often read about such things only when the critical mass has been reached, or worse, when it's already too late like with the suicide example here, and every time I read something like this, especially about Hollywood in recent years, I cannot stop thinking about what was going on in those women heads? Like, you getting harassed, molested, raped even, and you're not doing anything about it, when you should immediately call someone, anyone, or simply quit the job, but no, they stay there for years, only to come out with the #meetoo decades later...

I've seen a sexually-themed situation once on my own eyes, the girl immediately started yelling at the guy on the open with and everyone around, said that one more time and she'll go to the director, the guy turned pale instantly and looked like he had a near-death experience, and needless to say, he never came close to her ever again, nor other girls/women at the office. This is how it should've been solved, immediately when it occurs, she put the guy in his place, when the event was happening, she didn't let him cross the line for even an inch, but set the boarder right away instead, and better yet she wasn't afraid to do it out loud so people around noticed.

Just my 2 cents/personal thoughts.

You've made just as many presumptions there, the report says nothing about ex's and relationships. Just that someone had nude pictures shared by other employees, without more context it's unclear if any laws were broken or if the company endorsed or facilitated it or just didn't know..

But sure, why wait for evidence... Activision bad, Bobby evil etc etc.

I never understand people like alex.

Your work place is your work. If the pay is fucking trash u leave and get another job. It's not your family or your hobby.

Hell i shit the brick with a few jobs with people trying to pull my leg. Guess what? i move on and jump to the next.

Crying for 10 minutes in the bathroom because some douchebag treats your unfairly is retarded.

she killed herself you absolute cretin.

How horrible do you have to be to try and make excuses for a company, the company should protect its employees

What kind of statement is this, honestly.

Whoever passed them around to cause her distress and embarrassment in the workplace damn well should be held responsible.

It also doesn't matter if she had mental health issues. How the fuck is that an excuse to give the person who spread that shit a free pass?

Let's say she doesn't have mental health issues. You do realise she could have just been incredibly distressed from this situation and this was her trigger? Anything can make someone snap at any time, not everything is a gradual process.

Your comments are really close minded and scummy. Wouldn't want to be in your workplace. You'd probably find someone with mental health issues so it gives you a free pass to spread their photos.

Those who support these social slacktivist mindsets usually are the ones who have the most skeletons in the closet. I am honestly not surprised that Blizzard has been doing shit like this - assuming the allegations are true. Guess we will see during the trial.
I know, this is true.
Even on facebook, the ones I see being more vocal about social issues are the ones I know they did some shit that could cost them a "cancel" or are just... not great human beings.
Maybe it's a way to try and protect themselves, maybe repentance. Maybe just simple hypocrisy.

Still pretty close to LA.

the CoD studio is in the LA area.
I worked for Activision in Q/A back in 2005 for a whole 3 days before quitting lol the main office at least back then was in Santa Monica in a nice spot, they rented space in a commercial building next door as well. The devs aren't all there though, the game I worked on was being made by vicarious visions and I don't believe they were actually on the premises, I think they are in NY.

SOME of the stuff there just sounds like standard office behavior when people get comfortable, I've had women who were my superiors come up and hug me from the back or start rubbing my shoulders etc or tell me they want to marry me. That kind of stuff I'd just throw out, if it's telling someone they have to sleep with you to keep their job, or grabbing their breasts or just saying really nasty things after they tell you not to that's another story. I will say I've seen people who make dirty jokes at work with people they like act all offended when someone they don't like does the same thing so it's not always as cut and dry as it seems.

If that woman's suicide had nothing to do with work that's dirty pool to bring up in the case, I would have to hear her family speak about it if they felt comfortable doing it to really take it as 100% fact.

Absolutely hypocrisy and a way to "hide". Why would the person who is trying "so hard" by doing nothing on social media be suspected of doing horrible things? Reality is: everyone knows they are.

Can we vote on a thread ban?

Also you might want to educate yourself: https://www.brandeis.edu/investigat...icles/beiner-sexy-dressing-revisited-2007.pdf

Same principle applies.
Suicide is rarely over one thing and yes generally someone who does it is in poor mental health at the time. Having your nudes passed around at work could surely help put you in that place but it may also be that it was just the straw that broke the camels back and she had already been dealing with other things. I don't think any of us are really qualified to judge one way or the other here, none of us were involved or knew her personally.

As I pointed out, look at the precise wording of the claim. There's a lot of stuff to unpack there, and even then you don't have close to a full picture of events. It implies cause-and-effect that the reason for this poor woman's suicide was due to humiliation and shaming, but stops short of providing any sort of direct causal link apart from a single allegation about something that may or may not have happened.

I've got to be honest but the mention of the butt-plug and lube seems like a giveaway to me that a particular perception is being crafted. I'm sorry, but if you were looking at a rape case, and it was shown the victim owned a vibrator, would that be construed as a tactic to strike against their character or testimony, implying they were promiscuous or "asking for it"?

My point being that despite being ostensibly unconnected with anything else in the claim, its used as prejudicial detail. For all we know the dude may have had the butt-plug for his own enjoyment, but its placement in conjunction with the allegations of nudes being passed around creates a specific narrative which seems to me to be the basis for a criminal case.

As I wrote earlier. If there's provable crime, throw the book at them. But, if not, why is this sort of horror being ginned up in order to bolster a civil complaint? It does seem a but fishy, no?

Frat-boy culture or the result of a morally degenerate consumerist culture, that substitutes meaningful human relationships with social media reactions by promoting hyper-promiscuity as a liberating life choice?

Sharing pictures of the genitals of a deceased co-worker has nothing to do with the gentlemanly machismo of the rock 'n roll lifestyle of the past or the sexually liberal attitude of the hippie era. I'd say this depraved behavior is more the result of a society that openly promotes financial success through social media pornification.

Is it any wonder to encounter such behavior in a culture that has normalized Onlyfans as a side-income and is defending twitch hot tub streams as female empowerment? The cultural zeitgeist of silicon valley and its peripheral industry is anything but virtuous. It has forsaken true moral principles for hollow social media virtue-signaling.

How are young independent women supposed to find a healthy self-empowered attitude to their own sexuality, when online whoring is seen as acceptable and shaking that "wet ass pussy" is celebrated as a cultural icon? How are men supposed to have a respectful attitude towards women, when outright prostitution and superficial amorous polygamy are sold as healthy lifestyle choices?

So why are we so surprised to find this shitty workplace culture at virtue-signaling companies such as Blizzard and Riot? It's no wonder that this crap flies under the radar of the twitter crowd who turns a blind eye to this crap so long as the virtuous tweets keep coming. That sh*t would not fly at companies such as Warhorse Studios, the very same companies who are so despised by the online mob.

F*ck this shit, there is nothing healthy about this new culture that has taken a hold in America. This has nothing to do with fratboys and toxic masculinity, this has everything to do with a morally hollow materialistic lifestyle that is hyper-focused on its own sexuality. There's absolutely nothing liberating about that as it is slowly turning people into a meaningless amalgam of identity attributes only to be sold as products online. Welcome to the machine.

Agreed, but passing her nudes can still make a party indirectly responsible for it. Kinda like 'involuntary manslaughter'.
I get what you mean but I wouldn't go that far because she took her own life, involuntary manslaughter means someone's life was taken from them. I don't think anyone would kill themselves over just that, it's embarrassing but what was missing in her life (or mind) that made her decide life just wasn't worth living anymore? I wouldn't be shocked if she hadn't been suffering from depression for a while and probably not just work related. It's sad that she did it, suicide has been on the rise for years, people are just brought down by things not going well in their own lives, the world around us seemingly being an unreasonable hateful place where people just want to yell at each other, opioid addiction and all kinds of other things. We only know this one thing that happened to her and while it was awful I just can't see a person taking their life for that reason alone or even as the main reason, at least not an adult.

Re-read the excerpt. The allegation is that this happened prior to her suicide creating an implication of revenge-porn style peer group humiliation and implying that it may have had a direct contributory cause to her death.

Like I said, it carefully constructs a narrative that this woman was shamed and embarrassed until she killed herself, without ever making that claim or having any sort of actual corroborative evidence. i.e. a suicide note blaming an abusive relationship.

I wouldn't blame the victim but I would also say it's not a good idea to send anyone nudes if you don't want them to get out, it's like free speech, you can say what you want but if your words get out to the wrong people you could end up regretting what you said. If you send someone nude pictures they are 100% out of your control at that point, you need to ask yourself before you do it if you would be ok if other people saw them because it's probably at least a 90% chance more than one person will see them over time.

Easier to lay the blame on masculinity or traditionally masculine concepts than it is to point at the actual problems. Just another way for a group of mental malcontents to try and control the discussion.

Totally true, but this brings up the question - why a company should to be involved into two individuals affair then? The dude turned out to be a total dick, happens, nothing new, many guys are exactly like that and share personal pics of girls/women they're not really into and treat them as nothing but a temporary fun, but then again, guys wouldn't have anything to share if they didn't get those kind of pics in the first place.

Tend to happen they were working at the same company, and he was even her supervisor, so I can see only two possible solutions here - there should either be an internal rule/code of conduct that prohibits any relationship between the employees, like it was in one of the corporation I used to work at (but then people usually complain that their personal live is not the company's business, people did get along anyway, but at work they basically had to pretend they don't know each other), or the employees should be indeed free to do whatever they like, meet with whoever they like, sleep with whoever they like, but then the company shouldn't be involved into it, no matter the position of the individuals, unless an actual mobbing/harassment took place.

The fact that people think it's fine to share nude pictures of their partners with other co-workers shows how much of an impact digital culture has on our moral behavior. Doesn't matter if it had a direct relation to that person's suicide or not.
Again, this has nothing to do with toxic masculinity, but a general online culture that is celebrating self-prostitution for financial gain while normalizing the sexual consumption of people.
