Having a hurricane wipe out the leaders of anti intellectualism and religious extremism and letting the party get back to non psychotic conservatism is the best thing that could happen for them long term.
Go buy a musket then. There's not a single legit reason you could come up with for needing an assault rifle and to even hint that it's on the same level as actual people being suppressed and a party that encourages hate on them is offensive frankly.

I can imagine that if the parties were swapped out in this case, one of those annoying fundie preachers would already be in the news declaring that it was the wrath of God. In this case, they're remaining conspicuously silent. Maybe if it actually does any damage to the convention they'll declare that the party isn't far enough to the right yet?

Do you mean you want every Republican in America dead, or just Republican leaders? Because there's got to be around 100 million Republicans in the US. What would you do with those 100 million bodies? How would you get rid of them? And how would 100 million sudden deaths affect the ability of America to function at every level? And what would happen to the children and pets of these 100 million people? I don't know, killing 100 million Republicans sounds good on paper, but it might end up being a bit of a logistical pain in the butt.
