Being a veteran doesn't mean you aren't lazy.
I'm a veteran, and I know many, many other veterans. Some of them are the laziest bunch of losers I've ever encountered. Sometimes people won't do anything they aren't forced to do...which is what the military is good at.
Once out, and no one is telling you exactly what to do and where to do it, people just plain stop doing.
More probable than not, most of the veterans at the occupy movement picked an MOS that doesn't translate well into civilian life, or are trying to make a career change.
Also combat experience doesn't mean much to civilian employers unless they are hiring you for the type of work you did while in the military.
Veterans get the short end of the stick more often than not, but being in the military is a choice...and so is being lazy =)

Your post makes too much sense to gain any headway in this well-worn topic. Stop it.
Fact is, I have a job right now while many do not. There are many people around me, jobless, who are probably smarter, more capable, and all-around better workers. Why do I have work and they do not? Chance? Luck? A manifestation of the chaotic universe we live in? Who's to say. I'm grateful, and don't take my work for granted.
That being said, I also know a lot of jobless folk who are, simply put, lazy fucks who deserve what they get. The issue is not clear cut. I feel like I'm shouting into the void when I say that, because the black and white generalizations will just continue, unabated.
