Today is the 50th Anniversary of Fantastic Four, a book Marvel cancelled a few months ago. And today they reveal this:

FOUR_TEASER-fixed.jpg

Wolverine and the X-Men #1, Incredible Hulk #1, Fantastic Four #1, relaunching ALL Ultimate titles...who was bashing DC now?

So this is all ultimate comics well that isnt that bad I guess. I still hate how shit always gets reset to number 1. Why do this it doesn't change anything and they are always quick to go back to the higher numbers again later on.

It's obvious they were going to bring it back but it's still a shame. FF has been superb. Out of super heroes deaths though, this one was cloudy on the final outcome anyway.

FF#1, Wolverine and the X-Men, and Incredible Hulk are not Ultimate comics.

Is this in the 616 standard universe? It would make more sense if this is in the ultimate universe, which hickman is working on.

Calling the original FF book cancelled is a rough way of putting it since it was done for story purposes.

How many times have they relaunched titles in the last decade?

Aren't they on volume 5, 6 or 7 of Hulk now?

Stupid comic books.

Rebooting the Ultimate line is necessary after how bad Jeph Loeb fucked the universe up after the first relaunch. Don't know what Marvel is doing with the 616 universe though.

I imagine this is more of a- people wil either buy numbers ones to collect them, or because it is a good launching point for new readers to jump on. I don't think this is anything like DCs reboot. Of course, I haven't read any comics in years, so what do I know.

I still am. Their relaunch still appears to be a total clusterfuck. Not all the titles share the same title, Batman isn't a relaunch but appears in the relaunch books, plus young Supes. Wonder Woman's growing/shrinking pants.

The Marvel relaunches make sense and isn't as convoluted.

Meh, better comics will be available.

Why the relaunch if it isn't being rebooted? This just sounds like a cynical ploy to misdirect people into thinking they're joining a story at the beginning.

Also, speaking of relaunches/reboots - what the fuck has happened to DC Earth One?

No. Everything IS getting relaunched with brand new story arcs. That's what they always said. It's not a reboot per se, but it is going to be new readers friendly.

Comics are like wrestling. Their fans know this character isn't dead, this title won't be canceled long, this was just done for the shocks, yet they smile, wink and nod knowingly and pretend to be shocked when it happens.

And they are not reseted either, not even rebooted. Same characters, same story. No universe reboot. Whoever bashed DC for THAT, can freely continue, dude.

So all of Marvel's history is being rebooted now too? Now Uncle Ben and Aunt May are dead? Sue and Reed no longer married?

This is what I hate the most. They've done it with Capt. America, ASM, Iron Man, etc. They'll do it with Uncanny X-Men, Daredevil, Thor, Hulk, all the DC titles that had a high numbering, and this one as soon as they get to a milestone issue. Using Action Comics as an example, why can't they just put a blurb on the cover that says special-edition 1000th issue or release a variant that has #1000 on it.

The teaser doesn't definitively indicate that fantastic four is going to relaunch with number one. The four might be back but I don't think the nature of Hickman's stories the Future Foundation will stick around in some fashion. This is hardly a line wide relaunch.

In the future, every issue will be #1. Each will also be a finale. Just think of the collecting opportunities!

I feel like people aren't getting the Ultimate part of the statement.
Doesn't really make that much of a difference in the scheme of things - it's still titling an entire series like it has no backstory.

Curious: Where does that say Fantastic Four #1?

Isn't it more likely that it'll be Fantastic Four #600, the issue number they'd be at if you counted the FF issues?

He is saying the Ultimates are getting rebooted as well. The other number ones are not the Ultimate universe

They're also not reboots. This is all still part of Hickman's overall story.

But this would involve people reading the comics instead of just complaining about them.

That would probably also lead to more people realizing Dalrymple being involved is fucking incredible.

But it won't happen.

Is this actually Fantastic 4 #1. I always figured they'd bring Johnny back issue when issue #600 of Fantastic Four, just counting FF issues.

I wasn't aware that there was a complete restructuring going on at marvel.... but whatever.

No, they enjoy a good story when the death of a character makes for a good story.

Hickman's run on Fantastic Four has been incredible so far.

daring question, i know, but is there a link to explain what's ACTUALLY going on? :lol

Future Foundation will hit issue #11 in October, and Fantastic Four was canceled with issue 588.

Do the maths.
