After Switch 2 reveal let me introduce you to PC handhelds

Guys, I get it if you are a hardcore Nintendo fan, but at least be honest and don't put things such as "games optimized for the platform", "portability", etc. PC handhelds - Steam Deck, ROG Ally X, Lenovo Legion - do all this and much better:

1. They allow to tweak the graphics settings and framerate if you want to prioritise graphics / fps / battery life, something you cannot do on the Switch and Switch 2
2. You are guaranteed endless backwards compatibility, older games will cost you nothing to "upgrade" and will play better as components get upgraded
3. Steam CD-Keys cost pennies compared even to Steam Sales ; handhelds running Windows give you the ability to subscribe to Game Pass
4. No paid online, duh

2. You are guaranteed endless backwards compatibility,
I agree with most of what you've said, but this is false. I have tons of games on Steam that don't run in Windows 10/11 or the Steam Deck, and they're from defunct publishers that will never update them. Some have user-generated mods that let them run, others are lost forever. You don't actually get a guarantee. I mean, it's a pretty good track record that only a handful of my 5000 games don't work, but still...

I mean I love the Steam Deck, but the Switch 2 will get more optimization being a single-SKU platform, and DLSS is way cleaner upscaling than the not-FSR-4 the Deck has.

Big advantages over Switch 2 for the Deck are $50 cheaper now, emulation, mods and like you said pay to play online + better backwards compatibility + Steam sales/key site pricing.

I'm just glad the Steam Deck is so much less fussy since its launch, and it's as near to a console experience as I've seen a PC get.

yeah right now I'd be more interested in a potential Steam Deck 2 than the Switch 2.
Way more games, emulation, customization and probably performance. Also between key resellers and regional pricing games also cost a fraction vs Nintendo stuff that will be $80 forever.

Do we know what hardware S2 has? I assume it is significantly faster than Steam Deck?

Based on how rough some of the games looked on the reveal, I doubt it

In the end it doesn't have Switch 2 games, until otherwise proven. Switch 1 was hacked by the fuckup of Nvidia but who knows how long Switch 2 will last.

PC desktop + Switch 2 is fine combo for me. Why would I buy a PC handheld.

It's never bad to have more options!

Virtua Tennis 4

And then you have games that run but came before a time when controller support was standard on PC. You can tweak to fix a lot of issues with varying degrees of hassle and Valve's done a good job of streamlining, but the ease of use is greatly exaggerated.

La La La Shut Up GIF

During the direct yes, but the Youtube video on the channel looked way better
I've watched that video now too and it still doesn't come close sadly…

What was impressive though was how hard the video editors worked to hide actual fighting ground footage!

I'm sold, but I'll probably wait for the next Steamdeck.

Riiiight.....
Have fun waiting 5-10 years ;)
It's the same architecture coming from the Switch 1...

Why Nintendo has been C&D every emulator developers lately in your opinion ?

Because it'll be easily based on the same architecture as the Switch 1. We might see emulators on the first or second year at the latest, with very good compatibility and better graphics options.

I loved the ally x but for $150 more got a g14 with a 4060 and oled screen..

think I'd use more if had a desk top
