I really looking forward to Saturday. Can't wait to be gravely disappointied in the ending or the cliffhanger for a movie I won't be able to see for 2 years, long after I've stopped caring for the franchise.

Yeah, kind of fucking hate they did this with Buddy Complex. I haven't even watched the OVA to see how it ended or anything.

I'm watching it for my yearly mecha fix since I don't really care much for Gundam, but between Aldnoah Zero this year and Valvrave last year, I think I might just force myself to like Gundam at this point if I want to watch some decent mecha anime.

That or rewatch Code Geass R1 or Gurren Lagann every year.

That ending was so disappointing that I actually wish Slaine had just won a killed everyone. That's how bad I thought it was.

It was a big meh but at least it concluded without any giant cliffhanger.

The final battle was especially lackluster, Slaine's precognitive abilities just turned off because reasons. For a show that relied so much on Inaho's keikakus thie way they resolved this fight was just poor. Yuki's, Rayet's and Inko's battle was off panneled and so was Harklight's. Blergh. Glad it's finally over.

Aldnoah Zero 24

Well, that's that, I guess. Wouldn't be surprised by a third season or a movie to follow up.
The final battle was disappointing. Slaine scrambled without much prep or his predictive ability, whereas Inaho had his haxed eye and a Kat that was quite clearly prepped extensively. Inaho still barely won.

Also, no resolution between Slaine and Asseylum? Meh.

I did like the way Slaine tapped his forehead the same way Saazbaum did at the end of season 1 though. He was the best character in this shit show right until the end, even if the plot relied solely on causing him misery to push it forward. They even put the blame for the assassination attempt on him. That's hilarious.

fight is on going

pew pew pew, earth fodder dying

slaine rallies his troops and tells them to surrender to earth while he goes down with the moon base

slaine's guys decide to go back and fight while moon base is exploding

slaine sees inaho and decides he wants his final fight

slaine's group is fighting, while earth troops suddenly get good and put up good fights

slaine and inaho fight ends in an inaho victory but inaho decides to save slaine because hime-asshole asked him to

small time skip - peace, hime giving everyone aldnoah, she's still with that other dude that did nothing to deserve anything

slaine is now magneto, imprisoned in a cube, inaho visits and tells him that hime told him to save slaine, slaine cries

fin

sorry for the terrible formatting, I almost died of disappointment typing it out

edit: the only redeeming moment was seeing el dorito with her long hair down

Let's not forget that
Harklight and Barry die offscreen attacking the Deucalion, Slaine is scapegoated for plotting the assassination and starting the war with his death being the catalyst for peace, and Lemrina not even appearing in the timeskip epilogue
.

It's a stretch but I think
Lemrina does appear, with the doctor, you see the wheelchair and bun like hair
.
Wow that was fucking lackluster. Slaine just gives up. Dude was clearly not cut out for the villain role.
Yeah Slaine just going 'welp that's over' was kinda lame.

Eddelrittuo with her hair undone was way cute tho. Basically chibi-hime.

Also the idea of getting Aldnoah technology from the martians is fucking stupid, we would be basically becoming dependent in a power source that the enemy can disable at any time.

I also think that the writers didn't knew what the fuck to do with Slaine.

Wow. Well, at least it didn't end in a cliff hanger. Just rushed as hell with characters dying off screen. Wish we knew what happened with Lemeria. Poor girl got shat on the whole series.
Earth forces not losing one person is kinda bullshit though.
Blaming everything on Slaine, which results in peace is just bullshit and doesn't make any sense. Somehow the whipping boy of a Vers count plotted out the assassination of the princess? A 17 year old boy how hasnt' been to Earth since he was 5 or so? Okay.

Dude was straight up suicidal. Saw it coming for a while, but just seeing it in action is kinda depressing.

EDIT: Oh Lemeria did show up. She was the person the doctor was working on. Wish we saw her face at least.

Just saw the first episode. So far the hype I had has been fully justified.

I still don't know how much of the writing was handled by Urobuchi himself, but you can clearly see the Butcher influence all over.

Character shows signs of optimism and general love for humanity: dead (though I'd say odds are good that it was a body double ala Padme)

Cynical alcoholic/smoker (in this show's case, it's alcoholic) with prior history of the main threat

Speeches about how the opposing side has their own ideals and how they shouldn't be taken lightly

Cool-headed, possibly emotionally broken main character

The bullied character (Slaine...I can already tell he's going to be Urobuchi's punching bag in this series, as I already found him more sympathetic than Inaho

The soundtrack is also incredible so far.

The first few episodes of Season 1.
I realized that during the second half of that season and subsequently dropped it.

I kinda liked that. Him being the villain never made much sense, so I welcomed the return of a more S1 "sane" Slaine.

Oh that was her ? I was just wondering "who the hell is this girl and why is the camera focusing on her."

My predictions for the sequel if there is one.

The new season or whatever begins by setting the scene of what's going. It is noted that Lemrina has been gone some time.

Dark forces at play. Cut to Inaho having some kind of premonition.

Out of nowhere all hell breaks loose as the rebuilt moon base is blown up and several Orbital Knights are wiped out by a new force.

Turns out the Ancient Civilisation is back to reclaim the power of Aldnoah. Several coordinated attacks hit Earf. Asseylum is targeted but saved by Inaho because reasons.

Meanwhile the force descends upon the prison facility keeping Slaine imprisoned. Obviously he resists at first but then he sees the familiar faces of Harklight and Barry as well as his old man. Space magic is the reason they're all alive, of course. Slaine declines to go because he's looking for redemption.

Something, something drama. Asseylum is eventually taken and the only way of finding her is the medallion Slaine has hanging around his neck.

We soon learn Lemrina is working with Dr Troyard and the Ancients because she wanted to free Slaine.

Inaho is then tasked to team up with Slaine to go rescue the princess. Both of them try not to kill Cruhteo when he begs them to bring Asseylum back.

Slaine has some kind of chip or whatever in his head that will detonate if he tries anything funny.

Commence the new season.

Shit, that actually sounds pretty good to me.

That's what I thought at first but going back and looking at it again, who else could it be?

I'm okay with this aside from
Harklight and Barry. Cmon man I know it was offscreen but they were basically bombarded to death

I typed something out but scrapped it, tbh I don't even know what to say about the ending.

but as much as I know the internet loves to hate him, Slaine was the only thing that kept this show watchable imo... god damn they kept screwing him over to the very end, you can feel the Urobutcher's influence even if he wasn't the one penning the story.

I mean they blamed the assassination on him? Really? The guy who did almost everything he could and more to save Asseylm got blamed for her assassination attempt?

Edit: I hate to ship etc but seeing Assylem with neither Slaine or Inaho (and not even any final dialogue with either of them - especially Slaine), and end up with some guy who didn't even exist 3 eps ago just rustles jimmies.

And though we all knew it was never going to happen, Slaine taking over the world would have been far more interesting to see than what we got and you know it

Well at least they held hands and had a great fight. Guess Slaine is Inahos secret.

I hope for more, I wanted a supreme ultimately overlord Slaine
not asseylum hime surviving for the 15th time and getting her way. Lemrina would have been good too. Perhaps harklight can do a rescue mission

Also, so what happens now - are Vers citizens still living under a feudal & caste system?
Even if they gain resources etc as payment for Aldnoah, won't most of those benefits go to those who were well off as was the original fear? Is Asseylm going to change that? Was she oblivious to it? Or being born into the top of it did she assume that thats how things should be? There was apparently a lot she could have been doing at home long before she ever decided to go to Earth.

I just hope Slaine goes full, blown evuhl in the season if there is one. In the first season he did his best to save Asseylum and was hampered by both Martians and Terrans. In the second season he tried to create a utopia in which neither of these labelled in the mattered. Now that is he being scapegoated for everything, in the third season he should just decide "fuck it, everyone dies."

What part of space magic do you not understand?!!!!

Ep: 22
Asseylum: "I do not need a reason to save someone."
Lemrina: "Such arrogance...the suffering of those you save never enters your mind, does it?"

Who knew that would have been the perfect summary of the ending.

Slaine would be better off dead, to be honest. Right now he's in an isolated prison (probably for the rest of his life) with no one to talk to except one visitor occasionally (even normal prisons have other prisoners to talk to). Plus even if he eventually got out, both sides of the war blame him for everything related to war despite it not making sense. A Terrian whipping boy of a Vers Count somehow planned the assassination of the princess with residents of a planet he hasn't been to since he was 5 years of age or so? Makes perfect sense. The only named people on his side are now all dead (willingly sacrificed themselves too), with the exceptions of Eddelrittuo and Lemrina who both most likely think he's dead.

People who hate Slaine should be happy, this is way worse than death.

The hate for Slaine never made sense to begin with. He carried this show from start to finish. He was the only character with development and this storyline had some suspense and nuance to it. He humanised the Martians and elevated them from the cartoonish, mustache-twirling villains of the week they were served up on Inaho's side of the story.

I actually hope there is a sequel now since it's unlikely they'll pull the same boring Inaho VS Slaine nonsense. They couldn't even pull that off without nerfing Slaine.

That was fucking stupid. I didn't really like the ending. I actually felt bad for Slaine the whole episode and I was #TeamInaho the whole way.
I see the princess stayed with that random ass character.
Oh well, it's over. Liked that they brought back Heavenly Blue!

so what was the meaning of aldnoah.zero we were supposed to find out in the show again?

Aldnoah. Zero that was exclusive only to Vers royalty as opposed to the broadly available Aldnoah 1,2,3,4 in the near future
?
Was justice done even though the heavens fell?

Well both Inaho and Slaine fell from the sky as meteorites and neither of them got Hime so maybe ?

Add to that, that he was some kind of tutor for her before she left for Earth and so if he was planning to do it he could have done it at any point while he spent time with her. "Makes perfect sense" indeed.

This was one of the most disappointing shows for me. So many things left unexplained and overall underwhelming.

Not to mention just flat out dumb at times.

Meh.
