Because it takes the xenomorph = penis metaphor to the most childish extreme, that's why.
They've already implied that the Xenomorph rapes with its tail, it already did it to Lambert in the original film.

My goodness the hate in this thread...Did you all get coal for Christmas? The cast seems more genuine already, and I believe that crudup and co will be more believable, which is really what took me so far out on Prometheus. I know I'll enjoy this at least to some degree, so I'm looking forward to it. I'll hope for expectations to be exceeded!
Please be good...
Who the hell is Katherine Waterston and why the hell does she have such a terrible haircut? Also James Franco?
Have you seen Giger's body of work? It's one giant penis-vagina metaphor taken to extremes.
Here's one of the pieces that inspired the original xenomorph design:
![]()
Alien with giant penis head stroking its giant penis.
I remember the director or writer saying that the entire film was pretty much a metaphor for rape, but rather going towards men than women to invert the helpless woman tropeThe very first film, the one which started all of this, is about a spider with testicles and a tentacle penis emerging from a vagina, which reproduces by literally raping the face of its victim. Then an alien which looks like a big ol' erection bursts from the chest of the rape victim like an unexpected hard-on, grows into a gigiantic, violent cock-for-a-head with a tendency to kill people by penetrating them orally with it's long, hard tongue.
To take umbrage with the Alien being a little bit penisy, now, is absolutely fucking bizarre to me.
Absolutely not. Prometheus will never, ever, ever be considered a sci-fi classic. Ever. The source material is irrelevant. Blade Runner wasn't recognized as an instant classic upon its release. Early crititcal reception was mixed at best. It didn't find its audience until people got to live with the film for years and consider its themes.
Prometheus appears to be on a similar trajectory.

Why does this movie suddenly has the Alien title?
Seems weird after Prometheus and this beind a sequel do that.
Marketing and branding. Also sets up the idea the movie would be more about the classic aliens than say what Prometheus.
I mean look at the first teaser poster.

Awful. Looks like a rehash of alien with all of the prometheus bullshit carried over. Along with a bonus slasher sex scene taken from every horror movie ever.
I really hope Noomi Rapace is in this for more than a "Shaw died on her way to the Engineer planet" cameo. She was a bright spot of Prometheus.
To read the spoilers or not, hmm

If anything its reception has plummeted after release, not gone up. If you're gonna compare it to Blade Runner you're going to be disappointed.
No, I'm sure those people liked it at release too.Nope. Already plenty of support for it in this very thread. The tides are turning and you'll be counted among the unenlightened.

All hope was lost after people lerned of the leaks that are confirmed by this trailer
How?
Yes. Walter is his name.
Maybe for some of the negative people but the leaks don't sound all that bad really.
This teaser has a lot of good stuff too. The movie looks great to start with, just like Prometheus did, we get 2x the Fassbender and he was greatnim Prometheus and last but more importantly, we have eggs, facehuggers and Xenomorphs again.
I mean sure, if you ignore the fact that most of the crew is male, the person that gets impregnated is male and the main character is a female that defeats the penis monster. That might have been the intention, but it didn't work out that way. Big Chap very clearly rapes a woman
Since this is something that hasn't come up yet in our talks here on the spoilers that have been confirmed, I figured I'll add this: The people who have let out the spoilers (i.e. James Franco's role, the stuff with David and Shaw, etc) have mainly seen a cut of the film in test screenings and the general consensus on the film is that it's not bad and an improvement from Prometheus.
Apparently Waterston, Danny McBride and Michael Fassbender are all good in it and that the central characters of the film are good. However the side-cast is your typical cannon fodder material and the film has some editing/pacing issues.
It's not a given that it'll be good, of course, but I think some of the doom and gloom here is probably being blown out of proportion.
For the record, Corporal Hicks from AVPGalaxy hasn't seen it himself apparently but has been in the know on some stuff (i.e. breaking the news that James Franco was involved, details onand confirming certain spoilers.the Neomorphs
I'll still remain a bit pessimistic, if only to be surprised when I finally watch the movie. Thanks, Chained.
Charlie deLauzirika's 3hr documentary on the making of Prometheus is really good, and provides a lot of insight into how those decisions got made.
Supposedly there is still one more movie in the Prometheus saga (not counting the Neil Blomkamp movie)So this is the full link between Prometheus and Alien.
It's on YouTube last I sawWhoa!?
Where can i see this?
It's only 1xeno though. The other creatures aren't like the classic alien in the poster and shoot spikes from their tails/back.
No problem! And I fully understand and agree remaining somewhat pessimistic. There's plenty of ways that the film can go south still. I just figured it was worth bringing up the consensus from folks who've actually seen the film have said in conjunction with those spoilers.
Have you read the leaks? That trailer did nothing for me but I was hopeful for Ridley and no Lindelof, those leaks put me squarely into the pessimist camp.
How?
I've read 'em, yeah. The issue is that a lot of the details are vague. At this point, it largely reads like a typical Alien story with some Prometheus-esque details thrown in for good measure. You'd be surprised by how much the execution of an idea or story factors into all of this- so it might be good/alright like the test viewers say.
Mind you, I have no expectations of the film being anywhere near as great as the original two films. But good? Sure, I can buy that.
Haha I believe it!are those bloody gremlin-footprints at the beginning?
no, worse.a prometheus special edition blu-ray...
What exactly is bad about it? It's an interesting idea.Eh, everything withsounds horrible. I don't know how it can be salvaged or made good. But, I guess we'll see.David
