Will this be a weekly show or all episodes dropped at once? Cuase i'd love to watch it day one, but if it's weekly, the i might just wait til all episodes are available and then get Hulu.

One a week if its the same as other FX shows.

Oh so it's going to be on FX. The whole time I kept thinking it was Hulu exclusive. If I can watch it on the FX app (like Shogun) then I'll watch it weekly. I just didn't want to pay for a 3 month subscription.

We get this stuff on D+ (or by other means;)) in the UK. Looks like it will be on FX in the US but I'm not sure how things work that side of the pond.

Not seen much of Derry. Is it a new story in the same universe? The book/movies etc kinda covered quite a lot.

I hope it covers lot of Pennywise backstory. They didn't go as into that in the movie as the book did

I really love the cosmic horror aspect of Pennywise and especially the weird factor with the Deadlights

I'm a huge fan of the book

Yeah the book rules. Big fan of King back in my teens.

Long ass time since I read anything of his though.

I'm halfway through The Long Walk. It's really good but I read five King books back back last year so I'm kind of burnt out on him.
Just looking into Derry sounds interesting for sure.

"Andy Muschietti revealed details about the source material and longer term plans. He said that the series is based on interlude chapters from the It novel. He also said that three seasons are intended for the series, set in 1962, 1935, and 1908 respectively. "There's a reason why the story is told backwards,"

Think I did see the trailer a while back but dismissed it. Hopefully he gets the 3 seasons.

I'm happy about this

Pennywise backstory in the book is dense with detail

I can't wait to see how they adapt that aspect of that book

They have a lot to work with

Must be 35 years since I read the book, it'll be like going in blind!

I read it way back in 2017 before the movie came out so I still remember a lot

I just hope they embrace lot of the weirdness in the book in regards to Pennywise. I really like when stories get weird

Despite me having issues with Alien Romulus I really loved that they went the weird route with the Xenomorph Human Hybrid and that one human female birthing an Xenomorph Human Hybrid Egg. Not to mention the Xenomorph Human Hybrid killing it's own mother by getting milk from it's mother

I hope they go extra weird with Alien Earth

I have D+, but Hulu is separate. And, in order to watch the show i have to get Hulu as well, it doesn't automatically get added to D+. If only they'd introduce an annual bundle for both D+ and Hulu (for the right price i would consider it), but for some reason they don't.

Honestly, there are so many streaming services I've given up trying to be legal. I'll just watch what I want on my IPTV. When they all decide to get together and actually offer value i'll sub. No way am I paying for 4-5 services for 1 or 2 shows each.

The current situation is ridiculous in the UK, probably worse over the pond.

It looks good, but I'm easily pleased. I'm disappointed it's a series and not a movie, though.
We just had a so so movie. Before that loads of absolute trash. Movies have had enough chances.

This actually looks like the real deal. Besides the sequel to Romulus just got greenlit so everyone's happy :)

Damn, I never even heard of Romulus until now, lol. Now I have something to watch tonight.

New trailer

Confirms that we are either getting (A) new xeno variants and/or (B) new extraterrestials in addition to the xenos, like those other aliens briefly seen in the Adrien Brody Predator movie. Pretty solid premise; we'll see how the execution is

Don't watch if you want to go into completely blind, gives an outline of the basic plot and characters. Sounds great.

I find it amusing they use the black guy and the ginger as visual contrast for the edges of their little formation. I bet they wargamed out the line-up for a WEEK :P

Don't do it. It's member-berry shite that somehow brainwashed people into thinking it was good.

Easily one of the worst films I've seen in the last year or two.

Final trailer thank god, any more and we'll have seen the whole show.

It's a shame that Alien didn't start out as an anthology series. I say this as a fan of the show because I think it would have been more interesting to introduce a new race of deadly aliens in each movie sequel, rather than just having the Xenomorphs come back again and again like the Marshmallow man in Ghostbusters.

That would have been cool but we wouldn't have got Aliens.

it says Hulu on Disney+ - does that mean you get this with a Disney+ sub or you need two subs
Nah its either on Hulu or D+ depending on where you are. You'll need Hulu if you are in the States, D+ everywhere else.

Fucking stupid, and the reason I don't sub to any of these services. If they offer one low price to watch everything I'd be onboard but I'm not subbing to multiple services for one or two shows each.

Arrest me lol.

Saw this show isn't canon which could be a good thing if it sucks.
Yeah, was getting a bit silly how much the Alien has had contact with humans before the Aliens movie at this point.

Heck, even Ripley's daughter has had more dealings with them than her mother at the start of Aliens. :messenger_winking_tongue:

From what I understand, it's ignoring the more recent entries, particularly Prometheus and Alien Covenant, while still fitting mostly within the continuity of the older films. So it's a more like a parallel continuity, hardly a new thing for a horror franchise (just look at all the continuities of Halloween, and, good lord, Texas Chainsaw Massacre goes batshit with how many continuities it made). Plus, there was already a separate film canon with AvP, which fit with the original four films' continuity, but then Prometheus showed a clearly different Weyland (the man, not the corporation) from the one seen in AvP 1, which meant AvP became its own separate continuity.

So basically:

Continuity 1 (likely to be considered the prime continuity for now):

Alien 1-4, Prometheus, Covenant, Romulus

Continuity 2:

Alien 1-4, AvP 1 & 2

Continuity 3:

Alien 1-4, Earth

Wait What Omg GIF by Looney Tunes World of Mayhem

Yeah, and like I said, somehow that's still not the most confusing collection of continuities for a single horror franchise. Crazy shit.

Now to see if Badlands falls into Continuity 2 or if it splinters into a new thing entirely lol

Oh, I hadn't watched the trailers, is there an Alien connection?

I guess Predator 2 and its Alien reference works in all three of the Alien continuities as it's a pretty simple reference.

They will never have any real continuity with this stuff, and shouldn't even try. Best we should hope for are self contained arcs or phases, then a soft reboot that may carry over some aspects but otherwise does its own thing. Demanding that a Ripley be present for each event or trying to have multiple experiences with xenos that never get communicated out so Alien/Aliens still work is crippling.

A single 'show-runner' can maybe manage a long series of shows, film, and comics/books/games with a single continuity, but that just doesn't exist for film IPs, and we can see that Ridley Scott has his own view that messes with his own work, Too many cooks in the kitchen and the $$$ is too much, can't really do it as opposed to a book series or comic run where just 3-4 people, or even just 1 person, controls and puts out everything.

The xenos are like vampires, werewolves, or zombies at this point. Some rough basic rules but otherwise do your own thing.
