All-New Press Previews of Final Fantasy XV's First 5 Chapters

Aside from Noctis's, I kinda think these outfits could have worked well as the defaults outfits. They're more realistic than the actual default ones and there would have been less complaints about the cast looking like a K-pop band or wearing all black high fashion clothes.
Yeah, these look really good while feeling more fit for adventure. Definitely getting rid of Ignis's suit first thing.

Unfortunately I really think this is the case. The only open area is going to be the first mass of land and the rest linear and shit. I'm so scared this game development might ve been rushed to the level that first part is pic and second super underwhelming.

I'm not at all worried about this. FF games are always "linear" to some degree, but the style of linear that FFXV may adopt, i don't even think is possible of ruining the game. Reason being, the first few areas (including areas we haven't seen) are MASSIVE. It's exceedingly unlikely that we'll exhaust every square km of content in the first half of the game.

It's likely that "linear" just means less driving/gas stations/stops/camping and more train/chocobo/infiltration/dungeons. Basically, less horizon-stretching area to explore and more streamlined, typical FF content. Either way, i've completely gotten over the "rushed" development aspect of this game. For as much as we've seen, absolutely none of it screams "rushed", even though it would make perfect sense if it did.

I don't think Noctis' outfit is supposed to be "casual" as much as it's supposed to be "Totally Not Prince Noctis"

Are the alternate outfits also by the same fashion company or were they designed by the team?

I don't think so. I think they have been pretty clear about their messaging with the game especially after FFXIII being super linear. I don't think they would lie and say it's (for the most part) open world only to have 1/3 of the game be that way. I've had many doubts about the things the dev team have said but up until now they have been telling the truth about almost everything.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Whelp, I watched Kingsglaive yesterday and was quite impressed. As a two hour prologue introduction to the world and setup for the game, I felt it did its job engaging me into the world and earning my favor to finally pre-order the game, and this is coming from someone that felt Advent Children was unwatchable drek.

Despite some characterization and motivation issues with the writing on occasion(and how spazzy the camera could be during some action), I was surprised how grounded the plotting felt, no sappy melodrama or droll introspection from the heroes as Nomura-led stories tend to usually trip up. It was a stunning movie to look at and a relatively fast watch. I have paid little attention to FFXV and was pushed further away after playing both demos, but consider me intrigued now.

You should definitely check out the Brotherhood episodes on youtube, if you are more interested in FFXV now!

Hi my name is dragonzdgma,
Is the snake from the offscreen footage the same snake that sephiroth single handedly impaled, the very same snake that cloud and party couldn't defeat?

The Midgar Zolom was a clever renaming of Midgardsormr, a reoccuring monster. So...sort of?

What's more jarring is coming from the Midgardsormr of FFXIV and then seeing this one lol

(that's a giant airship hes on)

Somebody really needs to warn Gladio that his pants are plotting to strangle him.
I've been trying to warn him for weeks, and nobody's listening to me.

People just tell me they aren't real, and it's just a game. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one taking this seriously.

Guess it's Japanese dub for the first run. Was hoping for liam o'brien kaine quality. I'm playing it in December either way so guess I will know how bad or good the English dub overall is.

So you think it is an "awesome" alternative but only without the jacket and you would also like to have the hat and the gloves removed (which you unfortunately can't). So you are actually not really content with it either...but it's still awesome? XD
It's also less a casual outfit and more a golfer outfit, namely look 3:
You're saying jeans and a T-shirt is not casual (even with cap and gloves)? C'mon, man. And yes, you can still consider something awesome and there are still ways to improve it (same goes for a feeling more than "content"), but I also said "awesome" relative to his Roen outfit. And on second thought, the outfit with jacket is somewhat fitting while fishing. Again, I'd prefer this though out of all we've seen:

It seems unlikely that any outfits we've seen that are not the default ones are Roen. They just don't really seem to be in the same style when you look at their clothing line.

I want this so badly. Why must we suffer

I watched it a few days ago and agree! Going in with pretty low expectations - a poor film by cinema standards that serves as a long CG introduction to the game - I was pleasantly surprised. I was entertained, better informed on the circumstances of FFXV, and didn't feel let down by its weak points (exactly what you mentioned, as well as the facial animations in parts). Definitely not a bad way to spend two hours :)

If you haven't done so already, please do consider what this person says too:

I absolutely adored Brotherhood and I think it makes a great pre-game combo with Kingsglaive for fleshing out the characters and setting. Personally I prefer Brotherhood by a decent margin, and I'm not a big anime person.

Yesssss. I'm pleased as punch to see someone else with my exact reaction here. I thought Advent was bad, bad, bad -- and VII is my favorite game, even. But Kingsglaive, while far from perfect, works rather well as an opener.

I know the dub talk was a page back, but I did just want to quickly add how impressed I was with Ray Chase as Edgar in WoFF, he sounded absolutely fantastic. (The shout-out from the localization team in the character section about Edgar being voiced by a true Final Fantasy fan was really cute.) I don't mind Chase's voice for Noctis, but have still found Noctis/Ignis/Gladio/Cor sounding quite stitled in-game. I'm continually baffled how half the cast of FFXV sounds so stilted in-game when they otherwise have no trouble sounding completely natural on other projects.

Yeah, I enjoy AC for the fan-service, but it doesn't really work as a film like Kingsglaive or even The Spirits Within. I think Kingsglaive suffered from having a lack of focus character-wise (way too much time on Libertus, etc), but it had really solid pacing and did a fantastic job of ratcheting up the tension at the treaty signing. If nothing else, I was a lot more invested in Regis after the film, whereas before I hadn't been all that interested.

I don't mind the dubs at all, despite some awkward deliveries and the occasional awful line (which is more of a writing issue than a dubbing one). It's a world away from FFXIII and moms being tough.

From what the general audience has been shown, I definitely feel like the dub has been up to standard when it comes to jrpgs. What I've seen has been much easier to listen to over say, Tales of Zestiria. I think that a lot of the issues from the dub come from either contextless trailer scenes. Hearing two-three sentence snippets plucked from a scene can make them sound stilted.

I think, besides what I mentioned earlier re: the framerate and the Pro patch either not addressing it, or possibly making it stutter more with the extra bells and whistles, worst case scenario at this point for me is we're seeing another MGS V situation where the game is front-loaded with content, and the reason we're not seeing more than a little bit here of later cutscenes and areas is that the game tapers off heavily for the last 50% or so and we're sort of catapulted into what could be the Final Fantasy equivalent of the silent car ride scene.

Watching it, I think the bros are all good in both Japanese and English. Personally I think Cindy's Japanese voice is a hundred times better than her English voice, but Ardyn's English voice is better than the Japanese by the same degree so it evens out.

Ardyns voice is so good! I get the feeling Aaron really enjoys doing it too from the English cast videos. Him and Robbie(prompto) are my favorites.

Watching some gameplay from FFXV and I'm really curious/worried how much of the time is spent on a highway with rail guards, basically a linear road where the player is either in auto-pilot listening to dialogue or just has control but moving in a straight line. I saw some of this on the polygon 15 hours condensed into an hour showed some of this; the video doesn't look like a spot you would want to or could jump out of and go exploring.
