From an artist's perspective, which have worked on TLOU2 for a whole console generation. The leakers should get kicked in the nuts by each and every one of the people involved in this game, while from the fans perspective each and every developer should get kicked in the nuts for this abysmal story.

TLOU2 has become one of the biggest drawn out convoluted soap operas in gaming history unfortunately. Feel sorry for all the sacrifice people had to do to make this game.

I understand the whole "subverting expectations" of TLJ now. It's funny as fuck watching from the outside all the fans losing their goddamn minds when you don't know or really care about the property. I just spend the last few hours skimming TLOU wiki, 4chan and this thread. It sucks for the fans but this is great!
That seems to be a trend now. Look at FFVIIR although in that defense that's been worked on for years now.

Why couldn't have Joel died with some dignity?

Like sacrificed himself by fighting till the death to hold off the cultist's to buy Ellie time to run with Dina or something.

We go through this entire journey with Joel, just for him to be put down like a defenseless dog.

Notice how aside from Tommy (as far as I know he's alive), both male characters die like bitches early on in the game for stupid reasons that make no sense.
Depends on how witty someone wants to be with scripts. You can go traditional or not.

As I said a few times earlier, I actually think this plot is a cool idea. Much better than the usual cookie cutter video game plot which would have been Joel and Ellie save the world, or father figurey Joel dies but makes sure he gives one last pep talk before his last gasp of breath.

Looks like Druckmann went the plot twisty Memento and The Descent route.

The leaks sound pretty bad if true. Not a big deal for me, Naughty Dog shit the bed with Uncharted 3 for me, so I was already ready to jump off. TLoU was great, didn't like the DLC. When Amy Hennig left, I lost all confidence in them, since I know that Neil is a crazed leftist. Wasn't really interested in TLoU2, this just confirms.

I don't know like wtf, the gameplay looks sick, the environment looks sick, the graphics look incredible, just why WHY!? Why the fuck do they keep pushing this lgtb and sjw bullshit soo much. I wil just buy Ghost Of Tsushima as my last PS4 game then. FFS ND, i was soo hyped for this and you come with this bullshit.

Why let sexuality effect what you enjoy? The fact is we live in world where people can now do what ever they enjoy within confines of the law.

The way society is progressing would it really be relistic if every prognostic to be straight atrative woman ?

What difference does make your enjoyment of game if Ellie likes bit of pussy, and looks way she does and I totally disagree that she looks like a man she looks exactly like someone living in world that involves being extremely afletic and doing lot fighting etc. I mean would it be fine if wad guy she was seeing or do just want her single? I don't get it.

Didn’t know working for ND was so bad. I mean, I read about crunch all the time in the gaming industry but i guess at ND you have to deal with that and not being paid? *shrugs*

Probably because storylines are mandatory, cut scenes possibly unskippable, and a game with zombies, thugs and saving one's skins isn't the type of game that requires lesbians, girls mounting each other on a bed or slow dancing and tonguing.

It seems jammed in there for sake of story.

It's like playing Call of Duty and instead of missions of kicking ass and cut scenes of mission objectives you got Private Bob and Corporal Dong making out in a tent talking about marriage and relationships before grabbing an M16 and heading out to battle. Not really needed.

Yes I get that extent however your building entire universe that spans over years would it really realistic for young girl to grow up and not find a partner weather that's male or female.

I just can't scrape the feeling that if Ellie was bisexual and she was with man this would none issue. I've never seen people complain complain heterosexuality however as lgbt became thing tv shows movies and now games your instantity pushing it down people's throats throat etc

It always surprises me how people in progressive circles love this franchise so much, because it's really just torture porn for the most part and oozes what people would otherwise see as '' toxic masculinity '' in a different game.
Amy Hennig was the one at Naughty Dogs who wanted to go more in the adventure and exploration direction with the games at Naughty Dogs but Neil was always all about violence and generic action.

Personally I don't care about this franchise so I don't feel like I have a dog in the race, it just baffles me as an outsider to see people praise the game so much.
Yeah, people do bad things it's the apocalypse and all that. But I think that TLOU enters some pretty cartoonish areas quite often where it's just violence for the sake of violence.
Don't get me wrong I don't have a problem with that, but at the same time I don't see it as any different than just sexualization for the sake of sexualization.

People always complain about unnecessary sexualization but TLOU is so full of unnecessary violence just for the sake of having it to be shocking and it's so weird to see some people praise it who I know for a fact would find it problematic if it was made by another studio.

To be honest even Ellie looks weird as fuck in TLOU2. It's like they took TLOU1 Ellie's face and morphed it onto an older/larger face, like in those deepfake videos where one actor replaces another.

TLOU1 Ellie looks a hell of a lot better/like a real person....

...See all I want to do is give this pointed ears, like a cartoon elf or something like that. Why's her face all long and sharp features? I'm being reminded of Kif from Futurama.

If you took away the ultra gore and brutal kills in this franchise and replaced it with generic shooting and melee kills, I don't think anyone would care about this game. It's also the most popular game that has a teenage girl getting brutally killed by enemies. So it oozes a more realistic way of getting obliterated.

To me, this game is like Mortal Kombat. Ultra gritty and realistic combo kills with zoomed in xray spine busters.

Make the game have more cartoonish graphics and no/limited blood or fatalities (but keep the gameplay the same), and I bet half the MK fans disappear.

One of the surgeons Joel killed had a daughter called Abby
The Firefly massacre destroyed her whole life, she's been looking for revenge ever since
Knew who Ellie was because of of her dad talking about their shot at a cure, figured out Joel from Firefly records
Cult attacks Ellie's settlement and she, Jesse, and Dinah are part of the group sent to track down and attack it - Jesse is killed during this
Ellie is now violently angry and goes to Seattle looking for the cults home to wipe it out, meets Joel there because he heard about Jesse and came back to help her
Abby finds Ellie because she's been in conflict with the cult too, so when Ellie hunts them to Seattle and is set to attack them with Joel her group find them and attack
She kills Joel herself, takes Ellie back to camp debating what to do with her since for all her hate she doesn't blame her for the massacre
Ellie butchers her group to escape and Abby is now motivated to hunt her down
Second half of the game is spent as Abby chasing Ellie
Ellie continues hunting the cult while you chase her down
Ending is Ellie and Abby fighting to the death
You kill Ellie as Abby, and she leaves while realizing she's not really "won" in any meaningful way since all she's done is get more of her loved ones killed for the sake of her killing Joel and then Ellie
Ending is "cycle of revenge" with the loose implication Ellie's friends will hunt Abby now in return

This is how violent movies are. You watch the movie hoping everyone makes it out alive, and that's not always the case. Writers play on that emotion, so you're either left with the beloved characters dying or making it out in the end.

Areith dies in Final Fantasy 7, which was a big moment in video game history.
Batman's "death" at the end of Dark Knight Rises
Ricky's death in Boyz n the Hood
Mufasa's death in the Lion King

The list goes on.

The plots for these movies are very simple, yet people have grown an attachment to these characters to care enough about them.

This is not a "Naughty Dog" thing, it's what works in story telling. If there's no suspense, then you're not going to fear like there's no characters in real danger.

It really depends how important being a lesbian is to the story. It doesn't even matter if she's lesbo or not. If she had a big storyline about having a boyfriend or fiance, it's the same thing. Does it really need to be in the story.

If you watch War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise evading aliens with zapper rays, and suddenly he has scenes about being homosexual with a neighbour on the run and they find a safe house and start dry humping each other and get into lover's spats, there better be a good reason to have that in the movie.

My man i don't have any problem with Ellies design or the sexuality or the lack of atractive women in this game, my problem is they are just putting all these things just to push this stupid strong women lgbt thing like crazy. I don't hate gays or lesbiens or strong women. If they have it in the game cool no problem here, but the whole plot in this game and all the main character getting killed with all the corny trans story shit mixed up is a bit too much. I wil get it anyway, i know myself can't help it to buy the latest games.

oh shit naughty dog can go to hell, it's SJW the game. of course they had to kill joel and not even make him playable, he's a toxic male.

It is not the sole way of feeling danger for characters though. The world and environment or the surrounding cast being affected is an equally powerful tool to utilize and get the audience to feel fear. And I felt that was more than enough in the first TLOU. Neil had said on several occasions that a sequel to TLOU wouldn't work with new characters as the story is about Joel and Ellie. I understand this is another way of showing that, but not one I personally accept or like.

Right now, it's starting to remind me of The Walking Dead and how people view Negan.

People hated him for killing one of the most beloved characters in the franchise, and now people are starting like him.

I bet people would feel different about TLOU 1 if they just read plot leaks prior to the game being released.

I put the people who crying about SJW in the same category as people who cry that there's not enough diversity in a video game.

Buff woman kills Joel, "Oh my god! This is SJW trash!"
The whole SJW/diversity in plot lines get criticism when it's not really needed and seemingly forced in there. And video games are the type of entertainment people typically don't want politics. Just like sports.

A good example is Ellie and Dina lesbian relationship. First, it's a zombie/survival game, you don't really need it to begin with. Second, even if being lesbian is somehow a crucial point of the plot, why make it so forced and blatant?

Just make a quick note of it and move on. But hey, if they want to do tongue kissing slow dances and straddle each other on a bed, I guess that's the more blatant way to tell everyone they are lesbians.

That's the problem with media. You got a gay guy in a tv show or movie, and most of the time they make it so obvious you'd think every gay guy acts cheery and wears pink tshirts.

You're probably right that I'll feel differently when I (or others) play the game, a lot of character development is missing anyway. I agree that it seems very similar to Negan's situation (especially in the way Joel even goes out). But this is more a personal pet peeve of mine that I was hoping would be avoided given how the first TLOU went. Nothing to do with the politics of it or anything since I have no interest in that aspect, just wanted things to go in a different direction.
