On one hand the power consumption is embarassing especially since AMD used to be better than Nvidia in this dept, especially with 6000 series vs 3000 series

but on the other hand the 9070 XT has an actually good connector.
The 9070 XT has unimpressive power efficiency, because they pushed clocks hard. The 9070 is much better.

the problem is that a lot of the improvements here feel like they were begrudgingly doing so. like "ok, you guys have begged, we'll give you a good $600 card with good RT and very good upscaling..."
Especially considering the whole panic and delay over the price which clearly was going to be far higher before everyone yelled at them.

It doesn't feel like they're actually going for the jugular the same way they sodomized Intel with Ryzen. Not to mention we're still not out of the woods yet- the availability needs to be solved too.
That's maybe because on the gpu side they're still far behind, no matter how good these cards (only the XT) look.

FSR is finally ok, and raytracing is usable, but they still fall behind nvidia for anything else (and if the 5070 had 16gb...).

With Ryzen they have a great or the best cpu for every price, and they're clearly at the top in the high end.

To mimic what they've done with Ryzen they should price these things much more aggresively, and have a high end successor that reaches at least the 4090 while beating it handily in price.

so it's dumbed down 5070ti without dlss/cude.... who would've guessed.
I mean everything depends on the price. If it's really available and really 600$... then sure. maybe.

It also depends a lot on what your current GPU is. For me I have a 3080 10gb, so a 20-25% performance upgrade, with 6gb more vram, at $600 the price (assuming you can get that price), is currently the best bang for my buck upgrade that I'm seeing.

This looks great. Looks like the XT is roughly 50% faster than my RTX 3070. Heck, for 1440p gaming looks like even the non XT version may be more than enough.

Slightly slower performance than expected based on AMD's own slides (but that's to be expected), and honestly MSRP vs MSRP we're not in a position where they're offering a ton more value BUT looking at the real price of the 5070ti, these cards have more than a shot at MSRP.

The RT performance is amazing coming from RDNA3, FSR4 seems a huge step ahead, but AMD is still behind Nvidia in those. It's a huge jump ahead those.

Now, 9070XT MSRP vs actual Nvidia price is a no brainer. I'm sure the 5070ti will eventually ve available at 750 and AMD will magically find a way to make the 9070 550 and 450 as it was expected but they really missed a chance here to make a big splash.

I still think this is the best card to buy if you want the best bang for your buck, but you only get to launch your product once and AMD shouldn have been more aggressive.

I am in exactly the same spot. Updated 3700x to 5700x3d or cheap. Added more ram. Only gpu remains 3080 10gb.
But who am I kidding. I am maining ps5 pro anyway

what else is there? I want a graphics card to play games with. Not this multitasking do it all shit that drives up the price of the card and ruins the market.
feels like you're downplaying the improvements made to FSR4 quite a bit too.
It was a broader look at their offering.

The XT variant looks to be a great card. The 5070ti at retail price (it's doable) still is a compelling choice, even if a bit more expensive, getting you more compatibility with the better upscaler, better raytracing and more features (gsync, reflex, etc.).

Anyone buying the 5070 is outright crazy. Just get a used 4070ti instead. Hell, even a 3090 could be a great choice.

That is to say this gen is cursed xD

I have a 4070 and I plan on getting a 9070 xt. I purchased a 1440p OLED ultra wide about a month ago and I noticed a decent performance difference going from regular 1440p. I think the extra VRAM will help pushing those extra pixels.

I think it should be around a 45% performance uplift vs a 3080.

The Sapphire 9070Xt uses a 12V-2x6 with a 3 8pin adapter, however the connector isn't a problem for 300w cards so no need to worry about this.

The biggest problem in the NVidia side is the 5070 with 12GB of VRAM. That's is not enough right now for some settings it would otherwise run, let alone in the near future.

AMD has a minimum viable card at 550 and a better one at 600, while the lowest card that can be recommended from NVidia is 750. And all that ignoring the real prices

It shits to bed in Black Myth(31 vs 15 fps), Alan Wake 2(31 vs 19 fps) and Indiana Jones(26 vs 7 fps) in 4k/RT on, but it's pretty close to the 5070ti overall, which is great. Maybe they can improve it with new drivers. The fact that it can draw over 400 watts might be too much for my 750watt psu. I’m still not convinced by any new card yet, so I’ll stick with my 3060Ti for a while.

Only reason I wanted to upgrade from 3080 Ti is for path tracing and while its a huge improvement gen to gen on AMD side its not performing for the games I thought to myself I needed more power.

Gamers nexus or hardware unboxed didn't even bench cyberpunk overdrive path tracing, wtf?

Surely someone bench'd those?

Wow, not too shabby. The games with the really heavy Ray tracing are still choking it, but besides those four or five, it's there.

FSR a big deal, too.

You have to be really hard up for 50 bucks to buy a 5070.

Easy answer, it is shit performance on both 9070xt and 5070 and 5070 Ti. There no need to waste time and effort for an obvious answer.

5070 Ti (I really don't want that card) shows acceptable performances for Black myth wukong path tracing so why not Cyberpunk 2077 overdrive which performs imho better?

There's no acceptable answer to skip on path tracing benchmarks. A LOT of peoples are stuck with older gen cards who basically only need to upgrade for these monster performance games. I really don't care to get >150 fps on F1 24 raster.

So just to be clear, not a single reviewer tested a 9070 XT cyberpunk overdrive?

SolidQ SolidQ there was a leak that it performed good in that game, what's going on?

26FPS @ 4k RT Ultra in CyberPunk 2077. That is acceptable framerates? We are not the same.
