Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

I still haven't found a Pit or Captain Falcon.

I'm really annoyed.

All the stores I've been to has basically been cleared of amiibo's. Nintendo needs to do something to have some stock on the shelves.

The store tracker on Target is fucked. It says there is a Fox in stock at the store right by my house, but when I called, they said it hasnt updated and they dont have it.

Do I go up there to confirm? Or take the guys word for it?
Same thing happened to me, went there and they barely had any amiibo period.

Uggh..I just realized, these Store Exclusives might have the "X Exclusive" stickers on their boxes..which means if you're a collector you might want to keep them in the box aka you'll need two.
Dang...I should have maybe reserved more of Shulk. Still..i'm hoping Meta and Rosa will pop back online some time ;-;

Someone mentioned either on here or somewhere that stores that have damaged merchandise often don't update their listings when something has to go in the damaged ..uh box? Bin? Likely, someone tried to steal or open a Fox figure in store and the store never updated.

EDIT: Oh yeah, The Flash, if you're still here...i think you were the only other person who's Captain Falcon order from TRU didn't get cancelled. Did your shipping info from UPS get updated yet? Mine still says "Not Available" since yesterday and isn't displaying any information. It's a little bit worrisome because that's never happened before....

How accurate is the Walmart in-store inventory checker on their website? It's showing Capt Falcon and Pit and in-stock.

I've been there couple of times in past few days and nothing but marios and kirby's etc.

Have you called to ask if they're actually stocking them in the back room? Wal-Mart takes pride in having accurate count of inventory. They have warehouses the size of god knows what and keep very accurate count of inventory to ship out. So if the website says that the retail location has it then the location has it but it's just not out on the sales floor for whatever reason.

That's what I'd like to believe anyway.

Dammit! I had no yearning for the villager Amiibo but then I played as him for one of the first times tonight with a bunch of friends. Now I must have his amiibo, that tree attack is too funny.

Don't suppose anyone wants an unopened Pit for an opened villager 😬

For a second there I thought i was losing my mind. I knew I had already read that post :P

I had preordered Pit and Captain Falcon from Best Buy and they've been "processing" since the 30th.
Really hope they're not cancelled.

Seeing prices like that and I really can't blame the reseller. $225 means a lot more to me than 3 plastic figures. Bah I don't have the US versions anyway, just Europe.

Not to mention he could buy them again on Amazon France or Germany and still make a profit.

We found these while we were shopping for a new mattress yesterday. They also had a few diddy kongs and zeldas.

I'm kind of fearful of posting this only because I'd have to assume scalpers will be rushing out, but...

Meta Knight appears in this week's Best Buy ad, specifically mentioning Preorders, so it looks like you should be able to go preorder him at the stores.

Curiously, its not shown on their online "ad" thing, probably since the actual preorder thing online isn't available.

No luck in store (item not eligible for pre order) or through 1888bestbuy was told preorders have been met. Oh well, that sucks.

DeepDiscount finally canceled order and refunded me for the two Pits I had on backorder from Dec 20th. Was able to get him the day he was released in the US and I forgot I even ordered him online until someone on Gaf mentioned waiting for their Pit from them.

Anyway heres my doubles collection of US Amiibo minus a loose Fox.

Went amiibo hunting but found nothing, damn. What I did found was a copy of Pikmin 3 and Wii Sports Club, the last ones too, that I impulse buy... I already have it digital so I´m not sure if I´ll keep it, seen they are out of print...

Maybe I should sell them for what I paid for them?

Lol I bought Hyrul Warriors on impulse while amiibo hunting. Good thing I did. That game is stupid fun.

Quick question, are the eBay prices for US editions of marth, wft and villager for real?

I have mine sealed and forgot about them. I bought a few from wave one at the start but left those three sealed just in case they became valuable. Marth going for 100?? Is that just a supply demand thing or are they expected to keep going up?

I haven't been following prices since early December... Have those 3 been discontinued?

Has anyone in Mexico been able to find ANY Pit/Luigi/Falcon? There are Zeldas in excess, Diddy's are out of stock I think, and Mac preorders arrived, but I've seen nothing about any other wave 2 figures.

Yup discontinued quite awhile back now. Basically immediately after first shipment.

Check the "sold listings" box on the left when you search 'em. That should give you a good idea of asked vs. sold price. :)

Yep you can get that price for those. At some point the prices are going to plateau. Once interest in amiibos becomes more based in reality, there is kind of a craze right now. People are ever only going to spend so much on a plastic figure. I've been selling on ebay for a long time, my advice is if you plan on selling these, sell them within the next month.

Think the craze well continue if the keep on discontinuing figures?

Sometimes I lie awake at night wishing I lived in a world where Best Buy shipped things to me in a timely manner, or at least informed me if they would be unable to do so.

But I am adrift in a sea of uncertainty. Uncertainsea? I am adrift in a sea of uncertainsea.

Uncertainsea.

Thank you for listening to my poem.

You'll survive - better yet open them they look 10x better

how reliable is that site kind of curious before i put in some orders.

I'd like to know this too, trying to secure a shulk.

I'm not sure. I had it bookmark in one of my folders. Don't remember how I came across it. I think someone in on GAF posted the link when the whole GC adapter craze hit. That would have been in another thread (obviously). Anyway. I've never ordered anything from these guys before so I'm unsure about the site.

Don't worry, my babies are all open lol

I just still regret not getting an extra of two characters from the first Skylanders game that were exclusive for a limited time..now those ones go for hundreds of dollars so I couldn't get another one for my collection even if I wanted to. ;-;

Damn, there's a Target that says that Fox is in stock with limited availability, but now I don't know if I want to risk a trip see if it's true.

And the Nintendo World Store had a whole bunch of Foxes last week. I should have picked it up when I had the chance.

Reading the FAQ it seems that depending on your payment option the reference currency will be EUROs, I am not very sure, but they have the prizes their shipping separately, as in they charge you for sending out, plus the personal shipping company you prefer to use.

The total right now for one amiibo says: ¥2,680 But I don;t think that's taking into account the other 2,680 for the preferred shipping option.

Think the craze well continue if the keep on discontinuing figures?

Not really, no. Interest in amiibos is going to continue, but interest will shift over to the new figures. At the same time, while amiibos right now is new and exciting and shortages are driving the market, at some point it's get old, and people decide it's just not worth the hassle.I don't think fear of not being able to get an item will hold people's interest forever, it may just frustrate people. It's working now though. A better strategy in the long-term would be to let people know which figures may be limited stock so people don't have to guess.

I don't predict amiibo interest dying down any time soon especially as Nintendo continues to release these new smash figures, I do think though that interest in past figures won't be so high especially when people realize that other regions aren't having these issues and the amiibos from other places will work just fine. It's collectors driving the prices so high and there are only so many collectors willing to pay over $100 for these. Once amiibo interest goes away from crazy levels, the prices will drop.

My point was, if you plan on selling these for money, right now is the prime time. While I have no doubt US versions or Marth will always go for a good amount of money, the amiibos themselves aren't always going to be as popular as they are at this very moment. If you think you can hold on to a US Marth and get $300 for it. People will move on from Smash eventually. Good luck with that. I don't see it. And wouldn't it suck for you if Nintendo restocked?

Well I think anyone investing in Amiibo's as an investment strategy probably have better options than Amiibo's. That being said, I do think in 20-30 years if you have the entire set boxed in pristine condition, it will be worth SOMETHING. Even old toys in bad shape, like voltron command some bucks on eBay.

I have one of each with the exception of the holy trinities for which I have 2x (Marth, Villager, WFT, Pit, Falcon and Mac). I think I'm going open my second Pit since he has a busted box anyway.

I do think people who are interested in collecting them have no interest in using them in Smash, so even though Smash's interest may diminish, the Amiibo figures may not

Well sure. But you're referring to collectors that may hold on to their collection for many years. I have no doubt such a collection of amiibos would be worth a good chunk of money years down the line. I was referring to resellers that are holding out for the best chance at profit. They're not going to sit on these figures for many years to come. They'll want to sell within this year, and I still think the best time to sell the rare 3 is right now.

I also think that if you absolutely want a US version badly for your collection, wait, don't pay over $100. If you can wait a few months, the prices won't be any higher than they are now they should be a bit lower. That's what I predict anyway.
